Great video. It’s not cheap. You can cut your mileage in half too on your tow vehicle when you are pulling the boat and everyone wants to get in front of you while you are towing your boat on the road. Good times.
Always enjoy your content. This is second video you mention paying fuel cost and I wasn’t going to comment the first time. While I always offer to pay for fuel, I never take money to run offshore. I’m going fishing and if I want company and ask a person to come why should they feel obligated to pay for the invite. Yes, it’s nice gesture but if you count on people paying for gas you can’t afford the boat. Not you personally but people in general.
Thanks Todd! Yeah I agree if you need other people to pay for your boat you shouldn't buy it. We were always taught tit was good etiquette to help out though. Not just for the boat but the gear, ice, bait etc. the capt. had to buy and maintain for the trip.
i wish i could afford to run a boat with twins... i run a small 17 ft angler with a 90 yamaha 4stroke and do my offshore fishing out of palm beach so i dont have to go too far out
I’m looking at grabbing something for North Carolina. Probably mostly bay and near shore. Occasional off shore trips in nice weather. What general kind of boat would I be looking at to do this safely? And possibly a few examples. I have been boating since I was young but only on lakes and rivers.
Fuel depends on motor…anywhere between 1.5-3 mpg for outboards. Fuel tanks range b/n 70-150 gallon tanks. $3-3.50/ gallon of fuel. Run 20 miles out, 20 miles back, maybe 2-5 to get to marina…You can do the math. Bait…catch as much as you can on your own. Buying live and/or frozen/fresh bait can be pricey. $100 minimum for an offshore snapper/grouper/AJ trip. Ice…minimal costs. $20-30 max.
30’ Sea Ray with twin 5.7 straight inboards gets about 1 mpg at 3000 rpm (22 or so knot) cruise. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s just not worth it Cheers
I was thinking about buying fishing boat with a cabin but I don't think I can tow them around but then if I leave it in Marina but wouldn't the cabin build molds? Because I'll probably the boat once every 5 to 6 month. And if you park it in the Marina, do they clean the boat for you or only thing you do is just park there? Can you do oil changes in Marina? Thanks
I’m not sure about the mold. I haven’t had a cabin on a boat before. The inside of my console doesn’t get mold though. The marinas I’ve been to usually have you clean the inside and when they pull it out for dry storage they clean the outside. I think most marina have a dry spot they can put it so you can maintenance it when it’s time.
Very good jod so people know what they are getting into. U forgot a truck to pull it n one thing I had done was I separated both engines completely apart meaning electricity from one does not touch the other gas tank I have two gas tanks in the back instead of one big one everything is separate so in case one breaks I still got another one for sure great job guys good joke on that boat break out another grand. Lol very true
I like century, hydra sports, and Grady white to name a few. They have been around for a while so you should be able to find a good used boat that doesn’t cost too much.
More than that i aussie. Just trailer n keepin that checked. Bro its alot an fishin licence here. Bro adds up to a lot. But yer they are great if ya can do it.
Yea it’s expensive but it’s a lifestyle. We have a 25ft Steiger and all of our weekends revolve around boating. It’s a good ROI if you actually use it...
So worth it though. Makes the weekends fun.
I'll be staying with my kayak for a while.
Definitely a cheaper option lol. Still catches fish too!
Amen Ralph me too
Smart man
Cheers
Yup..I got a tandem kayak with pedals and paddle...and trolling motor.... easy to carry on my truck...and inside of my garage
Great video. It’s not cheap. You can cut your mileage in half too on your tow vehicle when you are pulling the boat and everyone wants to get in front of you while you are towing your boat on the road. Good times.
Very true! I think our truck gets about 9 or 10mpg pulling the boat.

I agree with your rationale. Great comment!
Six figure income and allow 10% of the purchase prices for the yearly operating cost.

This is a great video! I can say you are 100% correct!
Thanks for the good insight
Great Info!
It is ALWAYS something! Just replaced tire from a blowout last trip. Great thumbnail! Lol
Thanks! The brand of tires we have now has lasted really well but before that I think we replaced a tire every season.
Carlisle tires?
Great Video. How much, on average, does it cost per offshore trip for just the gas, bait, and ice?

@@ReelHazardous Wow, thanks for your answer. It really helped.
😊
Nice job Jeremy!
Thanks Steve!

Thanks Jose! Those are good points as well!
Whats a good entry level offshore bang for buck boat for a newbie?

Yeah it’s expensive but a fun sport!
Hey , I have a 28 contender. Probably worth the same as yours. What insurance do you have and where is the boat located?
We use Allstate and are in Florida.
My budget is 70€
Boat! You've got that right!
Yeah lol
What insurance company do you use?
We use Allstate.
Great video and description of boat ownership !!
Thank you!

Yeah we figure if you use your boat more than 10 or 12 times a year you would probably be better off than chartering.
K I'm right
What about icebergs. I've seen Titanic
Have you seen Florida though?
Going to be a few. Can hardly afford a 14 food skiff lol
Mean two that
Ya gota love it'
great price on insurance. who provides the insurance coverage?
Thanks, we go through Allstate.
Ah boat without drink of right., New it. Of doing learning thing.
For some.
. Why boat on it.
So it's cheaper to own a boat in FL than it is to own a car in CA lol
I think about everything in Florida is cheaper than in California lol
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for reassuring me why I don't want/need to get a bigger or twin engine boat Lol
Yeah sometimes I get jealous of the small single engine inshore boats lol. Better mileage and less maintenance!
@@ReelHazardous yep until crap hits the fan and your taking 3-4s over the bow in a bay boat you’ll feel better about owning a deep v offshore boat
How much to remove that big scratch on your hull 🤣 for real with that money you can eat all the sardines you want for life
Probably lol but where is the fun in that!
Fast forward to June 2022 and no, you can’t afford a boat. Or at least you can’t afford to run it
Cheers
I know. Fuel prices are crazy lol
