I am one of the unlucky few who always gets pilling with the new BoJ sunscreen! And I do all of the application tips that you mentioned: taking time in between routine steps for things to "dry" ( I totally get what you mean about a "film" that shouldn't be disrupted with this sunscreen), switching up products underneath and over top of the sunscreen, not touching my face too much (well, any more than usual. it's hard ok.)... but I have a conspiracy theory. I think it's the high levels of hyaluronic acid. I have VERY dry skin and hyaluronic acid either (1) does nothing for me or (2) causes my other products to pill. My combo skinned friends love this sunscreen and I'm so happy BoJ released this but, alas, it's just not for me. I'm excited to try the new Skin 1004 as it sounds much more up my alley!
Upon looking at the ingredients list again: there doesn’t appear to be a crazy amount of HA, so maybe it’s actually the silicone base in this that’s causing problems for some people? My skin also doesn’t get along with certain silicones (pilling is the problem) so that would make a lot of sense for me personally. I will try this with a silicone based makeup routine and see how it goes.
Yup, the new BOJ sunscreen does peel on me !! 😫😩☹️ I think you’re right, it depends on how you apply it under makeup, because some days it peels, some days it didn’t peel, dang 🥲🥲🥲
See if you can space out the application (5 minutes before/after - but it might take a bit longer if you have very emollient products for example). And then stipple/pat makeup products in rather than rub. I hope that helps, pilling really is frustrating 😩
I’ve experienced pilling with the new mineral sunscreen I’m trying. It’s a watery sunscreen too. So I recently added a very light lotion before applying the sunscreen and surprisingly, that solved the pilling.
I was so hyped for the skin1004 probio sunscreen but it dried my skin out throughout the dayyy. I have very dehydrated skin, I’m still trying to find a base routine that hydrates my skin. Surprisingly the tea trica sun milk by them actually feels very hydrating for me. That’s the one I use now, I tried the birch juice sunscreen and it’s probably the most hydrating sunscreen I’ve ever tried but it leaves a white cast on me. Agh 😅. My favorite color is brown so they also got me with the packaging. Maybe once I nail down a hydrating base I can use it.
Rovectin I would say is one of my favourite k beauty brands. But yeah, I haven't bought anything from them for ages. So good for skin with rosacea though. Ooo the skin 1004 pro... The brown packaged stuff 😂😂, is quickly becoming a very dependable skin care line for me. Love the moisturiser , ampoule and toner too.
Alice! Hi! You should check out Flaskin! I think you would really love the bouncy protein essence and the cream although I really love the lotion and toner:)
Great vid. I have a whole tray of sunscreens on my bathroom counter top and enjoy choosing what to wear for the day- am I gardening? Want this texture or that? Japanese or Korean? And yes, when I'm repurchasing it's great to have so many excellent options as then price point is definitely a factor. I loved the first BoJ one but that got waay more $$$ than other good ones. The latest BoJ is lovely but i agree that thicker ones feel better on my dry skin and are easier to apply.
The price fluctuations are absolutely wild!! Nonetheless, there are also a lot of great options (and always a sale) so it feels like you can’t ever really “lose” shopping AB sunscreens!
This is exactly what happened to me with onion sunscreen. I was enjoying it and half way through the bottle it started to sting my face. And my skin is not on the sensitive side at all, I’ve used dozens of Korean spfs in last couple of years and never had this reaction. Too bad, I liked the lightweight finish on my combo skin.
Love the new BOJ sunscreen and haven’t experienced pilling either! The skin 1004 tea trica sun fluid sounds right up your alley as an oily combo girl 😊
I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one that had pilling with the new BOJ I thought I was crazy! I also have pilling with the new Cosrx ultra light sunscreen, which similar to new BOJ has a wonderful light texture. I have dry sensitive skin so I think it has to do with amount of moisturizer I need to wear under my sunscreen. I love the new Skin1004 probiocica, also the numbuzin no 1, and the ksecret Seoul 1988.
Yep, and if the moisturizer isn’t drying down before the sunscreen is applied. I can attest that the moisturizers for us take longer to dry down than the ones for oily skin!
Hi Alice, I actually have some recs for niacinamide-free sunscreens! I know this is you last sunscreen video for 2024, but maybe you could look into these and see if these are worth our money? 1. Goodal Houttuynia Cordata Calming Sun Cream 2. Etude Soon Jung X Director's Moisture Sun Cream 3. OMI Verdio UV Moisture Gel Sunscreen I also recommend you try the numbuzin sunscreen, it's become my HG!
The pink cap missha spf is definitely a powder matte on me. A little bit of a tone up effect, i absolutely love it and can't live without it. But i definitely want to try the skin1004. Great video as usual!
Thanks Alice!! I love the new skin1004 and the new Purito!! They are my new HG’s!! Thank you so much for your content! I learn so so much from you!! 💕🙌🏼
recently bought #2 and have been using it for about a week and right at the first application i was in LOVE so so so hydrating and just feels so amazing on the skin
Oh no! Yeah I feel like ONE of these filters seems to be a problem, but oh how it’s hard to narrow down which one - especially as there is so much crossover!
Oooo it seeems the SKin1004 doesnt have silicon in it when most of k-sunscreen have them, and it breaks me out! i think im going to try it! Thank you for introducing it!
the Isntree one has a beatiful texture and finish, very watery light and sets rather quickly it's very convinient. Sadly like you said, it's not friendly on sensitized skin, and somehow it feels weirdly warm almost hot upon application.
Thank you for consistently excellent content! Bandages and fingers are not a great match but the make ones specifically for fingertips (sorta hourglass shape) and knuckles (like H) that are extra sticky. Just don't get them wet or they feel gross
Love this summary. I do love a moisturizing product as I shift from summer to fall. Totally agree with your recommendations about pilling. I think relaxing and prepping your skin and allowing time is the best approach.
Hi Alice, I hope your finger recovers soon. I ordered all the mini sunscreens I could, but I haven't tried them yet, because the dermatologist told me that when my rosacea problem was under control I would be able to choose the one I wanted, but curiously the only sunscreen I have been able to use is a Tocobo stick and I suspect that since it leaves a film on my face it doesn't penetrate like a cream and I questioned whether the sticks really work, because the idea is that a sunscreen penetrates to be able to convert the sun's energy, I don't know if I'm explaining myself. A hug Alice and I hope you are very well 🥰
I just received an order of J-beauty sunscreen from your matte sunscreen review, but I have to try some of these! Like you, I prefer more of a lotion over the runny kind so your top 3 are my choices too. Thanks for these reviews!
I had some weird reaction to the BOJ aqua fresh sunscreen. The first time I thought I'd been sunburnt after washing the car, as my cheeks turned a really dark red. I'd worn a hat as well as the sunscreen. 2nd time it happened after mowing the lawn. I thought perhaps it was from my retinal, sun sensitivity or something. So I stopped using the retinal for a few days just to see, but nope, I still ended up with really red, inflamed looking skin, I was having to use a cold damp face cloth to cool it down. I don't know if I was getting sunburnt or having a reaction. It's never happened before, and I've used their rice and Probiotics sunscreen and also the isntree HA sunscreen. It's been so long since I've had a sunburn, so I wasn't sure if that's what it was, and I don't usually react to products either, so it was a first for me. But it was bad, so I stopped using it and I haven't had any issues with my other sunscreens. I'd like to know if anyone else had a reaction to it though. But it was a really nice feeling sunscreen so I'm disappointed I can't use it. 😳
I tried a couple of the milky sunscreens and while they’re great, for myself, nothing beats the original boj spf, year round. I loved the Purito one but something in it made my eyes sting when it creeps up (similar to original Isntree spf).
I can’t buy Naturium either - the former owner is still making money with ELF. Love the Isntree Onion for Summer (and BoJ Ginseng). The other BoJ Rice sunscreen pills so have been hesitant to try the new one. I have the new CosRX one on tap (have you tried it) and your #1 is on my list for the next order. Still love the Skin1004 HC Sun Serum and Haru Haru Airy fit as my everyday Winter sunscreen.
I'm heading over for the J-Beauty video, which I think I already saw but need a refresher on. I don't want glowy sunscreen anymore. I saw myself in a couple photographs this summer and thought I looked a little like a lightbulb. 😂 do you have any specific recommendations for a good JB sunscreen without fragrance?
Well, the new kose Suncut doesn’t have fragrance, or you could try the kiss me mommy sunscreen which is free of both fragrance and alcohol (though also - oddly enough - a bit more like k-beauty in feel!)
I’ve tried almost all of these, except the Rovectin. The SKIN1004 green fluid and Isntree onion ones were perfect other than that I don’t like fluids (though I keep trying to change my mind!) I ended up using up the brown SKIN1004 Probio cica on my arms and neck on the other hand because I didn’t like it at all as it stung my eyes too badly (I’m quite sensitive). And the BOJ and Purito ones were new faves - immediately repurchased!! The Purito has such a lovely texture - and I’m not usually a gel girl. We had so much to try this season! 🙂 I also am in my no-Tinosorb M era, because I’m tired of white particle build up when I reapply, and I’m glad brands released so many non-Tinosorb M-containing SPFs.
It really was such a good year for sunscreen releases! If we are already here in 2024, imagine what K-Beauty sunscreens will be like a few years from now 😍
Hi Alice, I always learn something new in your videos - Thank you. Have you ever tried AHC SAFE ON LIGHT SUN SERUM (it is all caps on the label)? Romon has a review, and I'd love your take. It is a clear, pinkish serum.
Ong Alice this wss released years ago but please I feel like were due a review of it, its the verdio gel sunscreen, i got it today and it feels nicer and even more lightweight than the skin aqua gel suncreen except!!! NO ALCOHOL in it
Thank you for this video! I've been waiting for your thoughts on all these new releases in a compare-and-contrast style video. Quick question Alice, you mentioned that the Probio-Cica sunscreen is dewier than others on the list, but would you say it's as dewy or dewier than the OG BOJ sunscreen? I find that one to be a bit too much and prefer the OG Skin1004 or the Purito Daily Soft Touch sunscreen.
the only sunscreen that does not sting my eyes and does not give me breakouts. im using this for 2 years after trying countless sunscreens! it also makes my skin soft and bright.
I wonder if the skin1004 sunscreen is like the Dr. Ceuracle HyalReyouth Moist sun. I love that one as it is lightweight, glowy, and looks great on my skin, but I HATE the smell. I will have to try this and see if I can replace the Dr. Ceuracle one. I did have some pilling around my neck with the new BOJ sunscreen, but I realized it was interacting with my perfume. I haven’t had the pilling since making sure to put the perfume on afterwards. I also notice sometimes I have more pilling with Korean sunscreens in general if I mix them with western moisturizers. So I stick to k-beauty moisturizers now.
I'm so excited for my order containing the new BoJ sunscreen to arrive!!! It should be here within the week, and as someone with oily skin, I'm so ready to be blown away!
I love your hair! I do always notice that you have such cool hair colours in all your videos. Do you bleach it at the salon? I want to try all these, especially the SKIN 1004 probiotics one as I liked the other products in the line and also the BoJ one. I had the Isntree onion one in my cart for a while as I loved the toner your recommended before, but removed it because I was afraid it might have a white cast so good to know there isn't any. I totally forgot about Rovectin as a brand but I remember their older sunscreen also had a pasty white cast and was really thick and yuck like a western sunscreen from the 1990s.
@@amriddless oh right, I always wanted a wig, I wonder where she buys them as they look really good. A lot of wigs are poor quality or uncomfortable, so would love to know where the good ones are from that don't cost hundreds
Is there a body sunscreen you like? And do you have a Body water resistant sunscreen you like? Thank you! You helped with finding a fabulous face sunscreen ❤Numbuzin sun essence and haruharu wonder airfit
I just started buying Naturium because they came to Canada and their KP scrub is way cheaper than the First Aid Beauty and that'S basically the only options.
I still love the BOJ serum sunscreen. The S 1004 sounds really nice. Elissa got a 2nd degree almost 3rd on her finger, that's been something to deal with . She is accident prone in every way. Her legs look like she has been thru battle with a dress on 😂😂poor child. ❤
I don't buy Naturium either. She's still on the board, isn't she? It's hard to get past it and buy a brand you get used to deliberately avoiding. I only brought myself to buy Lime Crime this year and Doe hasn't been part of the company for years and years.
So speaking of injuries, I was cleaning house and kicked the metal frame of my bed with purpose! It hurt, but I just kept going. When I finished, I sat down and thought my toe really hurts. I pulled my sock off, and my toenail broke in half. Into my nail bed. It basically looks like packman took a bite out of my nail. I hate feet, and my toe is killing me. So all that to say, I am sorry you cut yourself. Rant over.❌️⭕️
Sorry to hear you cut yourself in the middle of the stressful post-hurricane recovery. I do have a recommendation - hydrocolloid bandaids are excellent for fast cut recovery. They're not just for pimple patches!
Since you are a bit research and investigative savvy, here is a tip- from one who wonders… More and more sunscreens are formulated with the usage of Butyloctyl salicylate. Which still is not a licenced or approved sunscreen filter anywhere in the world as far as I know. That also has som iffy properties. It appears that this substance does have some sunscreen effect. But what more is that it also is a substance that is anti-inflammatory in so that it prolongs the redness reaction in the skin. Which has proven helpful when testing sunscreen as it makes it take longer before the skin shows signs of redness which is how they test sunscreens… Now this might be A-ok… but from what I have heard mentioned by Lab Muffin for instance and some other people is that this effect does indeed just mask the inflammatory reaction. And in reality sunburn or irritation from the sun does indeed still happen. But it takes longer for the redness to show… In that case stuffing a sunscreen formula full of butyloctyl salicylate could mean it would be a great way to trick the testing system and could help bunk up the spf factor to a level it actually does not live up to in real sunlight…? That would then be a really bad thing… But nobody looks into it. Would this spark a little investigation into the rabbit-hole by any chance?
My skin cannot tolerate Butyloctyl salicylate. It gets big hives all over my face and burns sooo bad. I’m so surprised I don’t hear more people having that problem with that ingredient. I was so bummed to see that ingredient in a lot of the sunscreens she showed today. It makes me hesitant to try any 😩
I didn’t like the probio cica line. I didn’t really see any benefit to my skin. Not sure if my skin would like it. I haven’t tried their tea tree line. I wish they would make a centella line. Love that stuff.
You have uncovered the true test of sunscreen spreadability: applying with only nine fingers! Hope the cut heals soon.❤
Haha thank you! 💖
Yup, the new BOJ sunscreen does peel on me !! 😫😩☹️ I think you’re right, it depends on how you apply it under makeup, because some days it peels, some days it didn’t peel, dang 🥲🥲🥲

Me too! Even if I put nothing under 😭
Thank you for the video Alice 😁, I must say Korean sunscreens arent big enough!
I’ve experienced pilling with the new mineral sunscreen I’m trying. It’s a watery sunscreen too. So I recently added a very light lotion before applying the sunscreen and surprisingly, that solved the pilling.

you are honestly the best reviewer of skincare, never went wrong with purchases after seeing your opinions 🥰
Glad you enjoy! 😊
Alice! Hi! You should check out Flaskin! I think you would really love the bouncy protein essence and the cream although I really love the lotion and toner:)
Looking at it now and thinking you know me well LOL. That essence looks amazing 👀
Well, as someone who has literally watched every single video you have ever made I would like to think I know you pretty well 😂
The price fluctuations are absolutely wild!! Nonetheless, there are also a lot of great options (and always a sale) so it feels like you can’t ever really “lose” shopping AB sunscreens!
Would love a makeup tutorial on how you did your face for this video. You look amazing!!!

I tried it with and without sunscreen and it pulled on me 🤷🏽♀️☹️
Hi Alice, I actually have some recs for niacinamide-free sunscreens! I know this is you last sunscreen video for 2024, but maybe you could look into these and see if these are worth our money?
1. Goodal Houttuynia Cordata Calming Sun Cream
2. Etude Soon Jung X Director's Moisture Sun Cream
3. OMI Verdio UV Moisture Gel Sunscreen
I also recommend you try the numbuzin sunscreen, it's become my HG!
The pink cap missha spf is definitely a powder matte on me. A little bit of a tone up effect, i absolutely love it and can't live without it. But i definitely want to try the skin1004. Great video as usual!
Skin 1004 right up my alley. 👍
Thank you! I’m excited to try skin1004 probio-cica glow. I have loved everything from that line
It’s such a perfect line for dry skin!
As an oily skin person, I use their pro bio cica ampoule as a lotion. One man’s dry skin ampoule is another man’s lotion/moisturizer.
Thanks Alice!! I love the new skin1004 and the new Purito!! They are my new HG’s!! Thank you so much for your content! I learn so so much from you!! 💕🙌🏼
So happy to hear 🥰
recently bought #2 and have been using it for about a week and right at the first application i was in LOVE
so so so hydrating and just feels so amazing on the skin
Right it’s such an incredible release!
Omg same for me with the rovectin lotus sunscreen. It burned my skin during application and felt tingly all day. My partner enjoys it now though.
Ahhh, it wasn’t Haru Haru as I thought, it was my other favorite, Beauty of Joseon that came out with a new SPF❣ Thanks Alice 💋
Ohhh yep, and it’s a hit! 😁
Could you please do one for physical sunscreens? I love your content. So good to find someone who is honest with their reviews and same skin as me! ❤
isntree onion spf stings my skin every single time!! I'm thinking it might be Mexoryl SX! bc same thing happened to me with Numbuzin No1 spf too.
Oh no! Yeah I feel like ONE of these filters seems to be a problem, but oh how it’s hard to narrow down which one - especially as there is so much crossover!
I need to try all these, except the Rovectin, I have the Isntree in my stash. DEFINITELY have the top 2 on my wishlist🤩
Oooo it seeems the SKin1004 doesnt have silicon in it when most of k-sunscreen have them, and it breaks me out! i think im going to try it! Thank you for introducing it!

I would love to see your opinion on Anua’s rice line🤩
Liquid band aid works really well for my finger cut.
Hi! What are you using in your face for this video?? You are absolutely glowing, I need to recreate ❤❤❤❤
Hi Alice, I hope your finger recovers soon. Happy to help! And i hope you do enjoy the J-Beauty sunscreens too 🙂

I did not know this - thank you for the info!
Somehow I still haven’t gotten around to trying the cosrx! I have heard good things though ☺️
I have a bunch of minis I need to try. I am lazy and hate to break out, so I'm still using baby sunscreen. Have a wonderful week ❌️ ⭕️

Is the #1 Skin1004 and Cosrx one manufactured by Kolmar? They make amazing sunscreens!!🎉
Skin1004’s original is kolmar! Yep they make a lot of great products ☺️
I’ve tried almost all of these, except the Rovectin. The SKIN1004 green fluid and Isntree onion ones were perfect other than that I don’t like fluids (though I keep trying to change my mind!) Wonderful as always! And you’re glowing!
Thank you! 🥰
Have you reviewed any mineral spfs from Japan or Korea? All chemical spf filters make my eyes water. So I need to wear a mineral spf around my eyes
I have reviewed a few! Some options are axis-y, Rovectin (og), and dewytree ☺️
Hi Alice, I always learn something new in your videos - Thank you. Have you ever tried AHC SAFE ON LIGHT SUN SERUM (it is all caps on the label)? Romon has a review, and I'd love your take. It is a clear, pinkish serum.
Loved hearing your opinions on these sunscreens ❤
Super thorough. ❤ Your reviews.
You are simply the best ❤
Ong Alice this wss released years ago but please I feel like were due a review of it, its the verdio gel sunscreen, i got it today and it feels nicer and even more lightweight than the skin aqua gel suncreen except!!! NO ALCOHOL in it
Thank you for this video! I've been waiting for your thoughts on all these new releases in a compare-and-contrast style video. I find that one to be a bit too much and prefer the OG Skin1004 or the Purito Daily Soft Touch sunscreen.
the goodal sunscreen doesn’t have niacinamide and doesn’t pill 💘💘 got it today and i loved ittt
the only sunscreen that does not sting my eyes and does not give me breakouts. im using this for 2 years after trying countless sunscreens! it also makes my skin soft and bright.
Oh that’s so interesting, I wouldn’t have thought to consider perfume. But yep, makes perfect sense that it could interact!
Do you have a best of mineral Asian sunscreens? Especially ones for darker skin types?
Ooh I actually do not. I really wish more brands had true tinted sunscreens (vs skin tints) with a REAL shade range
So sorry 😢
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Ah, maybe one day. It's hard enough finding ones in the U.S.
I'm so excited for my order containing the new BoJ sunscreen to arrive!!! It should be here within the week, and as someone with oily skin, I'm so ready to be blown away!
I have a feeling you’re going to love it!!
She just has a lot of wigs lol she hasn't dyed her hair in awhile that I recall!
@@amriddless oh right, I always wanted a wig, I wonder where she buys them as they look really good. A lot of wigs are poor quality or uncomfortable, so would love to know where the good ones are from that don't cost hundreds
Liquid bandage is awesome if it will suit your wound! I gashed my leg dragging pine boughs to the curb in south Sarasota County 🙈
Oh no ouch! Hope your leg heals up quickly!!
Thank you ❤
I hope you mend quickly too!
I don’t mind if my sunscreen isn’t matte as long as it’s not sticky after it dries. I can always put matte foundation and powder on top.
Is there a body sunscreen you like? And do you have a Body water resistant sunscreen you like? Thank you!
You helped with finding a fabulous face sunscreen ❤Numbuzin sun essence and haruharu wonder airfit
Biore watery essence, funny enough. It’s a bit shiny on my face, but I love how quickly it applies to my body!
@@AliceintheRabbitHolebut it soaks into the skin? Right? Thank you for the recommendation. I will put it on my list.
@@AliceintheRabbitHole do you have a water resistant recommendation? Like when you go to to pool/lake? Thanks
the Isntree one also stings my skin when my skin's barrier is damaged
I just started buying Naturium because they came to Canada and their KP scrub is way cheaper than the First Aid Beauty and that'S basically the only options.
I don’t judge it, saving money is good (especially in this economy 😩)
I still love the BOJ serum sunscreen. The S 1004 sounds really nice. Elissa got a 2nd degree almost 3rd on her finger, that's been something to deal with . She is accident prone in every way. Her legs look like she has been thru battle with a dress on 😂😂poor child. ❤
BOJ is my #1, but I have combo skin.
I don't buy Naturium either. She's still on the board, isn't she?
It's hard to get past it and buy a brand you get used to deliberately avoiding. I only brought myself to buy Lime Crime this year and Doe hasn't been part of the company for years and years.
Oh is she? I feel like that’s always how it goes, sigh!
Jarrod sold Too Faced and I want sooo badly to buy some TF now…still haven’t though lol
Oh wow that might be exactly what I need. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
Yes, this! I can't keep a regular bandaid on to save my life so I use hydrocolloids for everything. They're great for most wounds.
I agree. Blister bandaids can be a lifesaver. And wayyy better than a regular bandage
That HAIR is 🤌🤌🤌
Thank you! ☺️
Ohh just starting, so sorry the Rovectin didn't work for you. That's actually one I reach for when my skin is irritated😅
Don't mind me, just commenting for the algorithm
Kinda afraid to say this but I somewhat still think Skin1004 and BoJ is a bit overrated....😅
True
It makes me hesitant to try any 😩
It’s a serious problem
The majority of Korean sunscreens that I’ve used sting my eyes. Some of the Japanese sunscreens have parabens. 😢
I didn’t like the probio cica line. I didn’t really see any benefit to my skin. Not sure if my skin would like it. I haven’t tried their tea tree line. I wish they would make a centella line. Love that stuff.
I knew you’d love the knew BOJ. It’s fab!!!
It really is!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I’m not sure it’s taken first place from Numbuzin for me though
Butyloctyl Salicylate is not a sunscreen filter. It is actually used as an emollient and solvent in cosmetic formulations.-----chatgpt
I’d recommend checking out lab muffins videos about that ingredient ☺️
It's a chemical UV booster. It's octisalate with a few extra carbons attached.
