You have really beautiful tanks there
So I found a baby red eared turtle in one of the ponds by my house (and by pond, I mean a polluted water-filled dump). When I found him, I honestly thought he was dead but then I saw him move. He didn't look to good, I mean he was struggling to swim and was sinking in the water. The pond was just so bad(I mean it literally had 2 full trash bags and a damn propane tank floating in there) I couldn't just leave him there. So I took him out and took him home and put him in some clean water. To my surprise, he really livened up when I put him in cleaner water. I checked for any health concerns(I did some research) he seemed okay. I've never cared for turtles before so I dont have the equipment to take care of him and Im also not willing to keep him. This video helped me a bit to get an idea of a healthy habitat. So far he's doing pretty good, unfortunately I don't have a heat lamp so I kept a portion of the tank outside in the sun and I put a basking rock there too. Im planning on letting him go at a cleaner pond I know about where Im sure he'll grow happily and healthy. Thanks, by the way his name is Flobert.
I’ve been waiting all morning for this
Mate got to warn you I've kept these turtles for years, and when they were babies especially they were escape artists so those ferns might be an issue. Also they will climb all over your plants so they won't last long.
Looks really nice! One thing though, I've kept turtles, and he/she/it will DEFINITELY escape from that left side once he/she/it gets big enough.
I don’t mind having videos even at 30 minutes long.. I can’t stop watching lol
In my experience musk turtles are a lot cleaner than other turtles, your turtles can get out with your rocks that high, I think a waterfall with an in tank filter on the side that isn't for basking would be cool, musk turtles tend to grow slower than other turtles, the basking spot needs to be dry, be careful with ferns and ivy, they can be poisonous to animals if their eaten, you can use small palms, spiderplants, dracaena/lucky bamboo, flamingo plants, amazon swords, anubias, arrowhead vines, and peace lilies.
Love how you keep the mess ups like the box. Had me cracking up
Add danios with the turtle tank!! Turtle community tank will look so awesome!! Plus fast swimming fish will be good exercise for the turtle. Also might wanna plug in those big gaps with some rocks. Might get stuck there.
I love the concept of reusing so many things. Looks good!
Your scapes are always soo beautiful and inspiring. Gonna be a great turtle home! 😍🐢
Omg that’s insane it looks exactly the same as my scape of my turtle tank! Awesome
Another great 'scape. Looking forward to next chapter: The Arrival.
Love what you do MD! Amazing Work! Just started propagating some plants... Hoping to see more amazing videos in the future!
Nice! I also had a red eared slider that eventually got too big for a home aquarium. Hopefully the musk turtle is less of a hog. I would definitely add some duckweed on the surface. It would help with water chemistry and give a really natutal look.
You've inspired me to enjoy the hobby, Ive started looking after fish and turtles and love it. Thank you
Oooh I also use a sifter/sieve and water to separate gravel and sand. It’s very effective!
Such a beautiful aquarium! For future times, it would be awesome to see you put your animal(/s) in there and let us watch them explore as well ;)
Great video and I can't wait to see the new turtle in there. It's something I've considered myself and you have given me the inspiration to do something like this. You made me laugh when you said don't tell the wife your using the sieve but it's obviously ok to pinch all her tights for the plant parcels lol.
