  • Drummer Stanton Moore is one of the busiest drummers in New Orleans. Everybody wants to work with him. Likewise with the other members of his trio, David Torkanowsky (piano) and James Singleton (bass). These three guys are among the most sought-after musicians in a city brimming with great players. So it was a true delight to get them into the KNKX performance studio for this live session. Buckle up, turn it up and take a ride with the Stanton Moore Trio.

Saw these guys play at Blue Note in Manhattan last night, and it was by far one of the most full and energetic sets of trio jazz I've ever witnessed. They have such an incredible chemistry that does them worlds of justice!

+Wonka275 Singleton and Tork have been playing together for 35 years that I know about. Always on the same page.

Listening to this, to me, is like listening to three people at a cafe speaking to each other in French; It's so beautiful but I can't understand a darn thing!
How does jazz move the body so naturally and yet feel so intimidatingly complex?

I wish Stanton would take this jazz trio (or quartet) on the road. I love what they do.

I'm a musician and can totally relate to that and I'm not immune to that. However....believe it not, if it gets too extreme (and James is certainly moving in that direction) it can keep you from some gigs. Let's say you are backing up a singer in a classy dinner club...no one would probably tell you, but you could easily not get the gig because of it. That said, I love everything about this.
