    Thank you William! Pumped to finally get to ride with you, even if the weather didn’t cooperate. Glad you were able to document our invaluable assistance on Joe’s tire repair.

    Lay the old chain beside the new one to find the length. No math involved! Thanks for posting.

    Just a heads up. If you change the oil with the bike on the centre stand, you won't get the last 200 - 250 mls of oil out. I also do it on the centre stand, but with the bike on the ground. Once it appears that all the oil is out, get to the left of the bike, get a good hold and pull the bike to you and tilt about what it would be, if it were propted on the side stand. You'll be surprised how much more oil comes out. It's this reason that many owners find that the oil level is too high after they do their own oil change. I've so far clocked up 137,000 mostly faultless kilometres. Hope to reunite with the bike this April and continue our RTW trip then. Bikes in Bulgaria, I'm in Australia.

    Anyone with a AT noticed the 40mm recommended slack in the chain is too tight?
    I adjusted my chain to 40mm and out of curiosity I removed the bottom swing arm to rocker bolt
    and swept the swing arm up and down.
    The chain went tight before it was at max arc ie c/shaft - s/arm pivot - axle all in line.
    I’ve heard some AT owners destroying the c/shafts/splines because of this plus high wear
    obviously on chain and sprockets.
    William I noticed a couple of videos back you adjusted your chain and how tight it got when you leaned your bike over.

    • @MrBercis
      @MrBercis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      40mm should be measured when bike is on ground, not on the stand

    • @mmazz30
      @mmazz30 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrBercis Yes thats how i measure it.

      there is a proper noise, too, if a chain is set up right. there's a noise they make if too loose, a proper noise, and tight is just obviously too tight based on not enough slack and yes will destroy shaft bearings and every piece b/t there and the chain... not good in the outback

    Is your bike the same one you rode around the world? I'm looking for it, bit have you done a video that highlights any issues you had with it on your trip? Things you changed for comfort for long rides, etc?

    Very cool!..
    I have a Q. And would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
    I have a chance to get 2017 Honda Africa twin DCT in excellent! condition and with many extras 29,000 miles on it for $8,000. DCT
    It's either the Honda Africa twin with 29,000 miles or a brand new 2022 KLR650?
    Yes I know they are very different bikes as far as power and comfort and quality, I just can't decide.
    Is that a good deal for the Africa twin?
    Aloha
