Me too!! I think that would have been my “dream home!!!”
I loved Elizabeth Montgomery when I was a kid. I loved the way she spoke and handled herself. Cute laugh, smart and insightful observations, and her quick wit. She delivered her lines so well. It was so natural that you’d truly believe she was a witch with powers. They will never be able to recreate Bewitched because they could never find another Elizabeth Montgomery. The show itself was my safe place. Growing up gay I knew I was different and so was Samantha. In one episode she said to Tabitha that regular folks just weren’t ready to accept witches, and people were not ready to accept gays either. For that reason I held this show dear to my heart and have watched all 8 seasons at least 7 times now. I’ll likely watch them all again in two or three years. I just finished season 8 again last week.
I loved this. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Marina Coates - Mockingbird Lane Thank you for these videos. I find them quite interesting.
@@ds99 everyone in this world should be 'accepted', but its a shame not everyone is. I love Samantha and always wished I had her magical powers, I would of changed the world and banished all the wicked people....🌈😀
Lone Wolf Elizabeth accepted us long before others did. Dick Sergeant and Paul Lynde were gay. She seemed to adore them. She was a kind and sweet person.
@@ds99 i agree...
I've always wanted a home just like this! Simply elegant and inviting!♥️
With a very warm welcoming feel to it, like like my Papa and Granny's house had!
They did some things right in the 50’s-60’s, and the ranch type houses was one of them. Lovely open floor plans. And you could work at say, a grocery store and actually be able to buy one😩.
Yes it is. If I ever win the lottery for millions of dollars, it will happen. I own 3 acres, and would have plenty of room even with my current home (1700 sq. ft.) and a 750 sq. ft. tiny house that I rent out. And a swimming pool. It would also have a full basement. My home would also become a rental. I own everything outright. (Jan Griffiths).
I loved looking at the back yard through the French doors. Good memories
I've always loved this home.
Great job. I didn’t even realize there was only one bathroom in the entire house. That’s crazy.
I was a "Girl Guide" when Bewitched came on TV and we met on the night it aired.....I missed many Girl Guid meetings so that I could stay home and watch Bewitched. I now own all of the DVD's and have recorded and watched the show with my husband over many dinners eaten on TV trays. We love how they would get all dressed up to eat dinner in their own home especially in the early shows. We love how Endora looked the first time she and Darren met. She was so glamorous and he was in a Tux. So fun!
Thanks for sharing those thoughts.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane What Glenda sees in the show was normal for those days. My Mom belonged to a ladies group that had card/dinner parties rotating among each lady's house. The ladies would dress elegantly just to have dinner and play cards. They were far from stuffy. I was always "fourth" for bunco with one set of ladies, all dressed more for church than our living room. Check the magic popcorn episode of Bewitched.) Elegance, though, went with their generation. We dressed to go out to eat. We dressed to go to the doctor. We dressed to travel. Would we show up at a hotel looking like we were digging in the garden? Heaven forbid! Mom even had a closet full of evening gowns for "special" occasions, and she wore them frequently enough. Dad had one tux. We were far from rich, but it doesn't necessarily cost a lot to be elegant. Mom had two friends who could make clothes. Those clothes on Bewitched could be great, but Mom's closet full of handmade dresses and gowns could challenge the wardrobe department on Bewitched any day. So could many ladies who were Mom's contemporaries.
My FAVORITE show growing up, i too wished i lived there , silly isnt it. And i adored Elizabeth Montgomery

I agree 😊
That backyard though... 😍😍😍
Swoon.
I loved this tour, and the Bewitched house is my favorite also. While watching Bewitched one morning before work, the episode was about a fake lawn being installed at Darrin & Samantha's house in error. The error, I had noticed was their address which was always 1164 Morning Glory Circle, but for that episode the house number was 162 or 192, where as the middle number accidentally turns upside down as Darrin leaves for work and slams the door giving it the 6 or the 9, (I don't remember exactly) thus the lawn company installing the lawn at the address, which in reality is another house. I wish I could remember the episode name. But, we all know the true address was 1164....just a little observation I though you might like to investigate. I love your videos.
Love hearing facts like that. Thanks.

The house we had in Fremont, California from 1962 to 1967 was similar to the house on _Bewitched._ The room layout was almost identical. With five siblings my father could not afford to buy us a television set until 1966. _Bewitched_ was the first show we watched. It really wasn't a very good set. It was a used 17 inch b&w set that he bought for $50. I don't recall the particular episode but _ Bewitched_ was the first program we watched. I remember my dad saying "I think this is the first time you've all been quiet at the same time " lol
Great story!
Oh my goodness, Marina, you have created or should I say, re-created things perfectly in this iconic home. I dreamt as a child, of being Samantha and living in this house! You're welcome. It always starts out with me trying to figure out the answers to what I've always been curious about.
Those were such better times. I was born in 1960 so Bewitched was one of first things I remember on tv. Especially the intro and the theme music. I still watch it whenever it’s on now. Just wish they would show the whole series. Start at season 1. Episode 1 and run all way through and then start over. They just show a few episodes over and over.

These are some other things I noticed.
The back yard grassy area inclines up towards the Fence. This is to create the illusion the the yard is deeper.
If you look out of the kitchen window, you’d be looking at the house used for the Sitcom Hazel.

I’m sure they never thought that decades later someone would be analyzing these things.
Yes, I agree, especially since back then there weren't even VCRs yet.

Samantha obviously kept her nose busy with the renovations. I'd like to think that Derwood changed his attitude towards Sam doing her magic in later years.🌟
I hope so.
I think Sam's acceptance of Derwood's unappreciation set me up to be mildly abused in my relationships.
The fact is that Darrin did change his attitude very much. By the fifth season, Darrin would even agree with Samantha when she would say, "Witchcraft got you into this, let witchcraft get you out." That was one of the problems with seasons 6-8. the writers had progressed the show to the point where Darrin realized some benefit to allowing Samantha and her family and friends to be who they were. When Endora throws a party at the Stephens house, Darrin actually enjoys himself and he and Endora get along with each other. He is even on Endora's side when she zaps Arthur into the fountain. Seasons 6-8 not only repeat old scripts needlessly, they reverted Darrin's character to not understanding his wife and kids. If they had stayed with the "evolved" Darrin after Dick Sargent was hired, the story would have been better. I have imagined the series changing to focus more on the kids, especially after Tabitha starts school in the 7th season. Tabitha could have been joined at school by one of the Kravitz nephews, who conveniently appeared from time to time throughout the series. Tabitha would have had an antagonist at school. Maudie Pricket and Charlie Lane were perfect as the befuddled teacher and straight-laced principal. It would have been fun seeing Abner and the Principal try to deal with Gladys and the teacher after a magical mishap. Larry and Louise could also send their kid to the same school. What a fun mess that could have been!
Derwood? Don't you mean Darius, Dumbo, Darwin, Dauphin, or Dennis?
@@faithfulforever6331 Its funny how Endora and Maurice could remember Darrin's name when they really wanted to.
My absolute favourite TV home! Thank you! LOVE your videos. 💜💜💜
Thank you.
Thank you Marina for doing a part 2!! Part 1 was so amazing. I loved Bewitched as I said before in my comment for part 1 and this was/is my favorite tv show home.
Great job upstairs here too. In my own mind, I imagined Tabitha's room at the top of the staircase, the master bedroom on the other end (over the living room as you pointed out), and the guest room in between. There was no visible bathroom for the kids or guests upstairs. I guess they all used the master bathroom. :)
I've never seen "Brian's Song", but I've read that it used the Stephens living room. In that one though there was a basement staircase under the main stairs, as the men opened the door (which I think was pointed at the top to match the rise of the staircase).
Another great episode Marina! I enjoy the tours of each one. Thank you!

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane According to Wikipedia in their discussion of Lizzie Borden, "it was later discovered, after Montgomery died, that she and Borden were sixth cousins once removed...(through)...17th Century Massachusetts resident John Luther." Given how hospitable to gay actors Montgomery was, it is interesting to note that some sources indicate that Lizzie Borden was a profligate lesbian. One source I read over the years stated that Lizzie and her sister remained immensely wealthy after the murders and continued to live together as single ladies. According to the source, Lizzie's sister eventually moved into her own home due to the party atmosphere in the home. Having no other contemporary accounts of the scene, it's hard to say exactly what went on in the house, especially considering that hard partying among the rich of that time was a big no-no. So was it just a difference in style, or did Lizzie party like a rock star? Well never know for sure.

very good - thanks for putting these two videos together :) i've always been curious about the two upstairs windows situated over the front door - they'd have to be over the foyer but i suppose viewers are to imagine that they're in the master bedroom however throughout the shows run that would make the master bedroom backward because the window & design structure are in /on the backyard wall (not to mention the homes third or fourth fireplace) with an occasional interior glimpse of a single front yard facing window which is never seen in the establishing front view shots - also, i've heard that tabitha's room & darrin's downstairs home office were one in the same room/set, just redressed to fit the weeks story line - i do like the idea of a garden storage room off the patio & the location would explain how the master bedroom has a master bathroom because it would inevitably have to be where all the plumbing is for the upstairs bathroom plus a separate hot water heater, etc. makes perfect sense to me - i wonder how i've never thought of that because i've always thought that elongated brick structure was nice, but sort of weird :) i've also always been curious if the real santa monica bewitched house interior has any similarity to the tv house or if it's just like the brady bunch house(s) - with no similarity at all :) i hope you like making these - are they complicated - the two recent bewitched videos are awesome - thanks again!
Love your insights. I had wondered about those same windows above the front door, since we never see them inside and the entryway is too tall for a room above.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Ever thought about taking a crack at Collinwood. There's a fun house.
@@ira1ish Yes, some year for Halloween I want to do that home. It was so cool.
I have also wondered about the orientation of the master bedrooms. The windows on the bathroom side are always presented as overlooking the front yard when the occupant is talking to someone through an open window. I’m 53, but just noticed that back in 2019 when I was rewatching the series with my teenage daughter. I love the original bed set up, with the walk through floor space in front of the closets.

In one episode, the house is hermetically sealed because of Sam's lack of witchcraft use. When Darrin is told this fact, Endora says, "Don't worry, the centuries will fly by!" I try to remember that!

Loved it! One of my favorite homes! How about the apartment on Family Affair with Brian Keith???
Carrie Ann Oh yes! I loved that apartment!
Yes. I plan on doing that apartment.
Yes!
Kathy Garver discusses that on youtube. Of course, the apartment was a soundstage. However, if you were to put all the rooms in a real building, it would have had to take the entire floor of the building shown in the exterior shots. Uncle Bill had his own room with a private bathroom with a sunken bathtub. Mr. French had a room. Jody had his own room. Cissy and Buffy shared a room. They must have had another bathroom, because Jody is chased out of Uncle Bill's bathroom once, "Your Uncle wouldn't want to know you were using his bathtub." French said. Then there were the kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen and dining room could both seat the entire family. Then they had a balcony. Presumably, they stored their seasonal stuff somewhere, but the building undoubtedly had a basement. Let's not forget that they had neighbors on the same floor. Wow! How many blocks long must a real building be to house multiple apartments on the same floor the size Uncle Bill had?
I would love to own and live in a house designed exactly like this one. Marina, you have brought back so many wonderful memories of the Bewitched series and all of its excellent cast members !!! Thank You !!!!!!!!!

I just came upon your channel, and I love it. Going to subscribe. There is one detail you left out of the master bedroom. They had a great house and backyard.

To give a little salary perspective, I use the ABC "Bewitched" duplicate "Love on a Rooftop", which aired in the 1966-67 season hammocked between "Bewitched" and "That Girl". The husband was an apprentice architect slightly similar to Darrin starting out at an advertising firm. The Rooftop hubby makes 85.37 a week which in 2020 is 679.26. That is 2,717.04 per month today. It's not rich, but if hubby is a vet, he might be able to get a mortgage on a starter house. It's reasonable. BTW, "Rooftop" is so much a duplicate, the pilot episode uses a narrator and follows the "Bewitched" pilot script almost word for word in places. This includes both couples' joy of kissing. Dave is the orphaned, struggling architect and Julie (after the wedding) reveals she has a rich Daddy who doesn't approve of his son- in-law. If you watch the wedding scene closely, you'll notice they get married in what certainly appears to be Sam and Darrin's bedroom (based on the windows and curtains). After starting out in a dreadful time slot on Tuesdays, the show was finally placed between "Bewitched" and "That Girl" on Tuesdays, where I think it would have flourished if given a second season. It was even heavily promoted in color. Watch the entire series (featuring "Bewitched" alum Bernie Koppell) on youtube. You can see the triple Thursday promo for the three "power women" shows by punching in "Bewitched Promos" on youtube. Imagine getting married in Sam and Darrin's bedroom.
Not rich, just a normal 60s family. Lots lived like that and live now!
It was incredible, I loved Bewitched, this segment was so overwhelming, I appreciate your time for allowing us to view the house inside with such detail and inspiring to duplicate...if possible, I AM GRATEFUL I CAN ACROSS YOUR SEGMENTS, THANK YOU SO MUCH, GREAT JOB!!👍😂🥰👌🙏😇🙏🙏🙏🥰
Wow. Such kind words. Thank you.
First, you curl and dry your hair in curlers. Then, it's brush, brush, brush, brush, brush.
Yep. Never worked for me. Looked GREAT on her.
They had some of the best cars too!!! Loved the convertible Camaro
Yes, they did 😊
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane This era may have been the best time for Chevrolet. You can see the Bewitched/Chevy commercials on youtube including a unique Bewitched/Bonanza commercial. Hoss took a liking to Endora! On a side note, I'd like someone to explain the technology used when Aunt Clara drives herself home alone---from the back seat!
Love it
This was a joy. I so enjoyed this. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Glad you enjoyed it.

Absolutely Amazing. Hands down you are Wonderful & Spectacular for researching this & showcasing it with the graphics. I can't Imagine what it takes to do this.
Thank you! It's a labor of love. This time I kept track of my hours from.start to finish. I probably shouldn't have done that. I had no idea 😬
💓💓😊😊So much joy to watch your shows; takes me back in time to a world where we wanted to believe everything was happy and serene. It really wasn't (Vietnam) but shows like this and the warm, wonderful homes we enjoyed visiting kept us thinking it was possible.
Well put.
Once again...I loved it!! Thanks for bringing back great childhood memories!
😊
Thanks so much Marina for putting this together. Was overjoyed when I got the notification that you posted this. What a great tour and loved the house. :) Keep up the good work. :)
Thank you! 😊

So much fun to explore!! I’d like add one more thing, if you don’t mind, as a Bewitched fan I’m also a Partridge Family fan I noticed in their opening segment, you can see the Bewitched house as well as an episode where Keith’s girlfriend was a feminist, and in one particular scene he drops her off in front of her house after having dinner at his home which is right up the street. 😊 I enjoy watching your videos Thank you ☺️
Thanks. By the way, I plan on doing the Partridge Family home this year.
Marina Coates - Mockingbird Lane Awesome 👏!! Can’t wait 😊

Your channel is so amazing!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it.
That's a pretty spacious and amazing backyard! ❤️
Yes. It was a lot bigger than I remembered.
You ought to see mine---I have 3 acres. Swimming pool, 2 gazebos, bath house, pine trees (former potted Christmas trees), 2 sheds, and a small barn (I have 3 mini horses). (Jan Griffiths).
Very nice, thank you!

Growing up watching these shows, I always wanted my house to look exactly the same. I was intrigued with the appliances, especially the size of the refrigerators, because we never had such big things in Australia 🇦🇺 in the 1960/70s. I didn’t get my first dishwasher until the mid 1980s. Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane.
Glad you like them. Interesting fact about the differences in appliances.

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I've never seen a washing machine directly in the kitchen, as it is in Bewitched. It does make sense, however. One of the things people forget about this house is that it was brand new in 1964. Therefore, its layout and appliances are "the latest".
Thank you so much for the virtual tours through Darrin's and Samantha's Morning Glory Circle home! I was seven years old when Bewitched first aired and by the time its first run ended, I was totally enamored of Elizabeth Montgomery. To this day she and the show hold a special place in my heart. I very much appreciate the efforts of people like yourself that add so much to the legacy of the show. With regards to the location of 1164 Morning Glory Circle, like the changing floor plan of the house itself, the hometown can be debated. While most knowledgable Bewitched fans will cite Westport, Connecticut as the Stevens' hometown, a strong case can be made for Patterson, NY. The early episodes of Bewitched definitely pointed to Patterson, NY as the hometown with references to the town and New York State, inclusive of NY license plates on the Stevens' car. I am reasonably sure the first studio plan of the house has Patterson, NY also listed as the location. I wonder what your take is on the location.
Always love to hear when others love these homes and shows too. 💗
Ooh upstairs! Can't wait. Thanks again ❤🏠🌳🌲
😊
I used to brush my hair too 100 times for the exact same reason. Her hair was so lovely.
I did too!
