    To all my Indonesian friends that have watched the video: THANK YOU! I’ve had great comments but there are a few that keep repeating themselves, so let’s clarify:
    What I said and meant is that Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population (having lived in a Muslim country myself for 10 years, I already knew this. But you can Google it to confirm 😊).
    And then I specifically mentioned Bali being mostly Hindu.
    I’m sure there are other religions. I only spoke about the two places I was referencing: Bali & Lombok.
    So please don’t take it personally, and thanks for opening the doors to your beautiful country for us to visit 🥰✨♥️

    Some traveler said once that it would take at least 30 years to see most of Indonesia. Couldn't agree more 👏🏻
    I love travelling in Indonesia! It's a neverending story. There's so much to see and explore. I'm so excited to go back there after 4 years. Been to Lombok and the Gilis several times.

    I stayed on Gili Air, but heard the cool underwater statues are at Gili Meno...also a turtle sanctuary. Lots of the beach trash comes in with the tide, in currents from all around. I found the energy was much different than Bali, not nearly as easygoing. It smelled bad. So much garbage also from so many tourists, and garbage has to be shipped to Lombok. Sad situation for the horses there, hauling so much tourist luggage...(no cars and sand trails) it just feels cruel to use that service. ATM’s were a challenge, and the boats to get on and off....crazy. It was interesting to go, short stay only, but don’t feel it’s sustainable...oh well. Went to Komodo, boat just dumps bilge into the sea, and garbage afterwards, into the sea, not cool. Coral was amazing where it was still alive.

    I'm from Jakarta and when the first time i went to Bali for holiday i'm shocking to see the traffic jam there even worse than Jakarta since their roads are too narrow!😅

    • @amindfulnomad
      @amindfulnomad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha 100% I feel like the infrastructure in Lombok is being built with a view of the future, whereas Bali is more laid back.

    • @PissMenn
      @PissMenn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amindfulnomad Lombok and Bali has roughly equal to both population and area size. The problem with Bali is their majority population are more centered in eastern area while Lombok are more distributed across the island. Perhaps that's also why it's easier to driving in Lombok.

    • @amindfulnomad
      @amindfulnomad  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PissMenn that’s part of it, too I’m sure. But if you look at the way the streets are built (narrow, like you said yourself) it’s obviously not built thinking about larger cars, you know? Ergo: not thinking about infrastructure. Lombok on the other hand: roads are very wide.

    • @PissMenn
      @PissMenn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amindfulnomad agree with you and I think maybe it's related to Hindu Balinese culture too that they tend to live really close to each other and pretty much not embraced development. They also banned high buildings and don't want bridge to connect to Java. Central government pushing to build a new toll road but seems like the project has been stuck now. I'm sure the Balinese itself already feel annoyed by this. They should have done something. I'm impressed by a city in Indonesia called Batam which always building new and widening their roads even planning to build LRT, most of roads in Batam also have planted cable unlike in Bali when you can see hanging utilities cable everywhere. Maybe Batam follow what Singapore did since they're close to each other and I think Bali government should learn from them because Bali always becoming magnet for tourism.

    • @amindfulnomad
      @amindfulnomad  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PissMenn This is so interesting, I'm going to look more into Batam because it sounds like they're doing great things!
