Lol, if you also own a DELL XPS 8300 and felt like checking that, you'd make at least one other person happy. :) Currently running a GTX 970 in mine, so I think it's possible.
No xps 8300 unfortunately, but the card is 11 inches long and 4 wide, so just take ruler and measure the inside of the 8300 case and you should be able to find out if it can fit inside.

Because it is 8 years old psu, same as yours Dell 460w. And 1070 needs 8pin power connector, so i will use a 6 pin to 8 pin pci-e converter.
Just bought a Asus GTX 1660 for my Dell XPS 8700 because of it's compact size, I didn't think anything else would fit in there. I know my stock PSU is 460W, and recommended is 500 for the gtx 1070 and the 1070 ti. Did you have to upgrade your PSU for this? If Amazon doesn't ship it soon enough I may cancel and reorder this. the Fe edition is a blower design, meaning the air is sucked in thru the card and blown out the back of the card where your display cord is attached. This is useful for a dell since we dont have a custom fan and case for optimal air flow. But the other cards are good as well, they can be faster as well as cheaper and still cool the card very well.

I cannot speak for a dell 8300, but the dell 8700 with i7 4790 and the 460watt psu with 2 6 pin connectors has had zero issues whatsoever for me.

No, a GTX 1070 will not require a PSU upgrade, but a 1080 does require a nice PSU..

yes it will, the 8700 can even fit a 30% larger graphic card than the gtx 1080
But you will need to upgrade your PSU at that point as the 1080 does require a lot of power.

Yes, for me when using the 970 while playing pubg would shut off on me.
And this works even tho you've got far less than what's recommended in terms of a PSU?
It is not far less, go check it out. The site it self says you can do the 1070 with no need to upgrade PSU as stock is 460 watt
