Thanks for watching everyone! When I made this the movies release date was in 2018. It was delayed a couple of time to its current release date of 2/14/2019! I was lucky enough to see it on 1/31/2019 there is a link to my review in the description. Also, the question around her eyes is answers in the film. Lastly, I left some details out as I would encourage you all to read the manga, and watch and enjoy everything yourself (I don’t want to spoil it for you) again thanks and I hope you enjoy!
@KamiEuKiTo - Are you sure Mars has less light than the earth? I think it has less atmosphere, so more light should be able to go through, and it's not much farther away, so the amount of rays hitting it would be about the same, I think, but I'm not an astrologer, so I am only guessing. And besides, her eyes are robotic eyes, and with their super-advanced technology would not have to be extra big in the androids.
You wrote: "Also, the question around her eyes is answers in the film." I saw the movie 10 times at 6 different theaters in 4 different states, and I did not see or hear the reason for her big eyes being explained. What did I miss?
Worldwide it's at $382,659,117 according to boxofficemojo. China is getting it for an extra month because that's been the biggest source of box office sales. It's very disheartening to see domestic box office hasn't even hit $80 million. The corporate press really sabotaged it in the US. They were polluting the web with articles claiming that Alita was "a huge flop" more than a week before it had even hit the theaters. Disgusting.
When I watched the film. I forgot that she was CGI. They did good justice making her seem real in a cyborg form. And her eyes where amazing. They where big, but subtle. And it did a great deal of justice. This film made me want more. And I hope they make this a series of films.
She's NOT the only one with those eyes. If you watch the movie, you'll see that her entire race in the flashbacks had these eyes. The eyes are AMAZING!!! it makes her character come alive. Everything about Alita, I just can't see any wrong with it. I love the movie so much!
They won't, you have to read the manga, movie cornered itself on a dead end, Desty Nova is on the ground and he is a former citizen of Tiphares, Alita becomes an agent for Zalem/Tiphares to hunt for Desty Nova. Read it trust me. Movie is only like 10-15% of the actual story ( still ongoing, Mars Chronicles)
I like the eyes. They give her a synthetic appearance. With the exception of her brain, I think she's all plastic and metal. If her eyes were "normal", I don't think Aelita would appear synthetic like she really is. The eyes make her appear robotic, or in her case, a cyborg. Good call by the director. I hope this movie breaks the box office. To see multiple movies show the life of Alita is a great idea.
As if you couldn't just tell she's a cyborg by looking at her from the neck down, the eyes are completely unnecessary. She had normal eyes in the source material so theres no reason for why they couldn't have just gave her normal sized eyes in this movie.
To be honest, there is no reason she NEEDS to look robotic. In fact its probably the one point in the trailer that is confusing people into thinking she is a robot and not a cyborg. There is also no reason not to show this since the world of the GUNNM story doesn't seem shy on expressing their cybernetic enhancements. It can be either but there really is no point in purposely doing that except for personal preference. For me if they can get the story right, I can care less about big eyes. Conversely if they get the story wrong, normal eyes will not be able to fix anything. JMO.
It has the opposite effect on me and just makes her look like a mutant. If someone was going to go to the trouble of making a realistic looking robot, they wouldn't give her freaky looking huge eyes. These eyes work in the medium of Anime, but not in live action films. It's a bad decision that's going to hurt them in the box office as mainstream audiences are going to be turned off by those uncanny valley eyes.
Alestorm I have to disagree. While the size of her eyes did fluctuate a bit in the manga, the overall impression given is "larger than normal", which is what the author was going for. Those eyes, along with her slightly larger than normal head, was supposed to give her a doll like quality. So, yeah, giving her larger than normal eyes would be in line with the source material. With that being said, if you go strictly by the manga, I do think they took things just a touch too far. However, if you throw the anime into the mix, that all goes away because it is quite obvious that her eyes in the anime were meant to be larger than life.
Barry Bend I’ve read all the manga up tell mars chronicle which I have to say is way to freaky to use for live action.... But maybe along time ago it came from earth but she learned it on mars. And in the whole 1st series of mangas she basically learns it on mars. Not from a yogi on earth. You will see in motor ball arch she will get flashbacks to mars and her teacher.
I am not a huge fan of anime, but I saw the trailer today (10/9/18) and it blew me away. In fact, I liked it better than Venom, the film it preceded. I think the team of James Cameron & Robert Rodriguez finally got an anime adaptation right. THOSE EYES!
I saw the movie last night and it was excellent. Without knowing the manga story it really appeals with the story and sounds like it honours the source material properly. It would be brilliant if this did become a franchise, the whole movie flowed nicely, the characters were understandable and the backstory worked for the planet and Alita. Well worth watching and your analysis is spot on.
I liked the movie and will watch the sequel, only thing is, I hope not to grow old waiting on sequels. Keep out attention, keep team and keep movies coming, soon. Thanks James Cameron!

Awesome! That's a very good start into the Alita world. I'm so pleased to hear there'll be more movies about her. I have fallen in love with her big brown eyes.
I enjoyed your video. It delved into much of the background of the creation of the original Manga and the background of Alita in the comics. Much of this I didn't know about so I appreciate your sharing this information. At this point, the movie is due out February 2019 and I look forward to it and I really hope more people find out about it and like it.
Dude what's the orgin of this warrior? Is she from Mars ? Why is fighting Earth forces on moon? Why is she training? Is she from a Martian Colony? Or is she an Alien Cyborg?
Some selective human colony went to mars and started living there and henceforth it was knows as URM (united republic of mars). They had way too advanced tech and fighting skills compared to humans on earth. Alita was part of the cyborg forces of URM which was best in the whole Universe. Something happens and urm are forced to attack earth (as they want to destroy evil scientist Nova) so they attack all the sky cities and alita's group is told to destroy zalem where nova is hiding. That's all i know. Fighting on the moon was part of the war bw earth and urm people.
Alita is a human who is born on Mars, a few centuries after it's colonization and a few hundred years before Ido finds her in the scrapyard. As a child, she grew up during a period of internal wars between the factions seeking control on Mars. A faction that captured Alita and her friend was using kids to walk in front of their formation as sacrifices when they came to areas that were mined. Alita was saved in a minefield by the Panzer Kunst High Warrior, Gelda. She raised and trained Alita as a Kunstler, who rose to the rank of War Artisan in the Mauser School Kammer Group, a secret unit of Berserkers . The attack on the Earth is part of the ongoing Terraforming wars that was occurring between Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Venus, with each having their own agenda. This is before 'The Fall'. The movie scenes on the moon implies that the Moon is part of the Earth's primary or secondary line of defense. The training scenes in the movie are part of the preparation for the URM mission on the Earth. Alita is approximately 17 years old when the operation against Zalem and the other floating cities take place. She succeeds in accomplishing part of her mission on Zalem before being captured and jettisoned from orbit as a form of execution. When Ido finds her, it's centuries later.

The 1990s into the early 2000s truly were a great time in the US for manga! I remember trading and borrowing so many manga from Oh my Goddess to Gunsmith Cats with girlfriends in highschool. I think the casting looks great for this new movie, excited and nervous to see how it turns out though. Hoping the new movie does the manga and OAV justice. Before learning anything about this I was wondering if it was in the same universe as Astro Boy. I really like her eyes and I'm totally pumped to see this movie :)
I use to watch this cartoon back in the late 80s and early 90s i use to love this cartoon i couldn't belive when they made a movie out of the original cartoon
The characters are read "Juu" "Mu" normally. Kishiro adapts some alternate readings for kanji both for making things more exotic and understandable. For example, Alita/Gally's martial art style is pronounced in German (panzer kunst), but the kanji are 機甲術, literally "Armor techniques," or "armored art."
I salute Robert Rodriguez for staying faithful to the original manga. Where as so many attempts on adaptations has ultimately failed in the past... He succeeded. Weldon.
This is an amazing movie. I just watched it and omg the attention to detail in alita's facial expression alone is what makes you enjoy the entire movie not to mention the action/fighting sequence is superb and top notch. It made me feel alita was a real person which was what the director was hoping it would do.. I can't wait for part 2.. I really hope they make a trilogy out of this👍👍👍
No, She Is a Cyborg. Thats very important to Story. And most who complain about her Eyes are just rightfully confused because it doesnt make sense in relation to the Sourcematerial. And People get the impression She is some kind of a robot/sexdoll.
I liked your content. Here are a couple of suggestions that I feel could enhance your video visually. Use high-quality images instead of blurred and pixelated images. Especially images such as movie posters which you can find a high-quality version easily. When placing an image, don't stretch it or squeeze it disproportionately. Keep the aspect ratio intact. Its okay if an image doesn't fit your frame and there is a lot of whitespaces. Just paying attention to these two points alone would significantly improve your visuals. Again, I loved your content and appreciate the research gone into making this video.
I thought the eyes were suppose to be like that because she's doll-like/synthetic and have her outer appearance fool the audience to make you think "Oh she's just a cute android" or something similar to that, but once she starts fighting, it fully changes the mind of the audience completely. Which makes her stand out from the rest of the people around her.
Apparently Kishiro loves Frank Miller and Sin City, and since Robert Rodriguez directed the Sin City movie, I'm sure that connection blew Kishiro's mind.

I use to watch this cartoon back in the late 80s and early 90s i use to love this cartoon i couldn't belive when they made a movie out of the original cartoon
This was awesome dude thanks:) the story is soo close to reality
The characters are read "Juu" "Mu" normally. Kishiro adapts some alternate readings for kanji both for making things more exotic and understandable. For example, Alita/Gally's martial art style is pronounced in German (panzer kunst), but the kanji are 機甲術, literally "Armor techniques," or "armored art."
armored art = panzer kunst.... lol
This do have great potential!!
Those eyes are APEX PREDATOR EYES. Wider vision, 270° periphery, can see objects at much longer distances like a Lion/Tiger/Jaguar/Eagle/Falcon.
I'm not into Anime but I'm really into animation, I can't wait to see this now.
thanks Jesse, i needed that. im not into manga but i love the story/concept. now il be able to appreciate the movie
Good Job. I knew nothing about the character. Now I'm even more excited for the movie.
Thanks Mike
I salute Robert Rodriguez for staying faithful to the original manga. Where as so many attempts on adaptations has ultimately failed in the past... He succeeded. Weldon.
Thanks for the update.
I enjoyed it very much!!
Saw this movie last Friday. Its really good. i will be watching it again for a 3rd time tonight :)
Thank you so much for this content !!!
I really hope they make a trilogy out of this👍👍👍
Excellent job
Thanks!
OMG they made her eyes bih because she's a fucking robot and her character had big eyes in the story...
Tish Orth yes you are correct
No,
She Is a Cyborg. Thats very important to Story.
And most who complain about her Eyes are just rightfully confused because it doesnt make sense in relation to the Sourcematerial.
And People get the impression She is some kind of a robot/sexdoll.
@@skinnynorrys5394 that's just preverted
i saw the movie tonight and love your review, it brings more clarity to those who have watch but unfamiliar with the manga.
Ok ngl this movie is really good and the anime is also good🥴
Can't wait for the sequel! Go for Alita 2
Glad you are falling for this story like the rest of us vet fans have ! ♥
well, good thing they don't make it to be those american type movies, the original series is very dark and painful...
Very dark, painful, very bloody brutal
Her eyes don't look that unnatural to me. I didn't really notice until people mentioned it.
Agree.
This looks great , I wish we get Robotech with District 9 effects
Robotechhhhhhh!!!
Macross
Dr Ido sure reminds me of Vash the Stampede in some of those scenes.
Its funny even Yukito Kishiro is stoked about this movie coming out and he didn't like the OVA.
I'm pretty stoked, I hope it is good!
Barry Bend yeah the anime was kinds flat and doa I mean it was more boring than anything
Apparently Kishiro loves Frank Miller and Sin City, and since Robert Rodriguez directed the Sin City movie, I'm sure that connection blew Kishiro's mind.
He is being a Cameron fangirl. I can see with my own eyes that the trailers look boring as fuck and set a whole row of red flags.
no he's not, he just said whatever is advertisment for gunnm is good
but that is not a good adapation, probably worse than the OVA
New Sub! Loving the video! So excited for Alita!
Really great video
OMG cant wait!

Thank you for your video. Yes. The origins are most important and we all appreciate your time
No second movie yet but this was a great film. She came alive as a character.
