I just bought the same model GLE350. The color of the leather interior is called macchiato. I love this car, it just screams class and sophistication and money. You really feel that you have arrived.
Just purchased a 2021 GLE 350. The power is more than adequate for real driving situations. Test drove the Lexus RX , and the BMW X5 as well. I eliminated the RX , interior was somewhat dated and styling was not to my liking. The RX did drive well, had ample power, and excellent fit and finish. It ran on regular gas, had the highest reliability, as well as the best resale value. Checked off almost all the boxes except that it was somewhat boring, if that term can be used to describe a vehicle. The x5 had a more powerful engine, nicely appointed interior, classic BMW exterior lines ,and seemed to have a heavier feel to it while driving. The Mercedes GLE 350, had a elegant exterior ( IMHO ), which looked newer, and the most elegantly simple interior which sealed the deal for me. The horsepower is more than enough, and at no time in the 3 days I’ve owned it does it come off as underpowered. Unless you are more of a car aficionado and must have the 450 you can save yourself about $5000.00 with the 350
I must say, MB always kill it with the interior. The gauge cluster set up looks like a tablet and the graphics look like a video game! They definitely lead the pack with the newest tech.
Yea I agree MB is one of the best new cars to lease still a little pricey tho compared to Audi or BMW but worth it in my opinion. Lexus makes a phenomenal car as well
I like the older GLE/ML 2015-2018 Model more. The earlier GLE and late ML has GLE/ML350 as V6 cylinder engine with 302 horsepower which is much more appropriate than this I4 cylinder engine.
This is a luxury vehicle and drives very well. I have a 2020 GLE 450 SUV. Got it 6 months ago and love it. Smoothest engine I have ever driven. The 4 cylinder engine sitting under the hood in your test vehicle looks considerably smaller than the 6 cylinder. If you showed a side by side pic. You should review the 6 cylinder 450. You will feel a huge difference. Anyway, nice review.
I'll be getting mine sometime next year (hard to say, especially if further lockdowns were to take place). The inline 4-cylinder has plenty of power, remember that Merc have been crushing F1 over 6 years straight with hybrid V6 engines, it's not like V4 engines are inherently weak. Speaking for myself: I think it's the best comfort luxury SUV. It's a super-smooth and enjoyable car to drive, both the driver and the passengers will enjoy the ride. The interior is so quiet, the seats are extremely comfortable, ambient lighting during the night just makes the ride so much more pleasant. Another feature I love is the augmented-reality navigation system, I think this is the most polished implementation I have seen of it, Merc nailed it and are definitely ahead of the competition there.

A lot of comments saying to lease this vehicle. It’s nearly $31,000 total to lease for 3 years. An 3 yr used Mercedes that’s MSRP is about $59,000 sells for $46,000. Not leasing saves $15k!?? Am I missing something?
Yea a 59k GLE is a dumpster not worth buying. A good GLE 450 the way you want it is $75k. A Benz is a class of vehicle where one doesn’t penny pinch. A Fully loaded Hyundai is a better experience then a base Benz
Well this new GLE annihilates all the older gens so for that reason alone I would take the compromised 4 cylinder but of course in this class I would just pay the extra 5-6k and get the inline 6 other wise V6 is almost always better than a 4 cylinder
A very thorough and detailed review. Thanks for taking the time to critique this Impressive Mercedes SUV. I Look forward to your future TH-cam reviews!
Never been a fan of the ml/gle class styling. I think this is probably the best looking of them though. In this segment (mid size luxury SUV with a 4 cylinder), you have the q7 and now defender as well. Of those, I think the defender is the best looking- especially with the white steel wheels available on the 4 cyl. Yeah reliability but let’s be honest most people are going to lease any of these.
Yea this is def my favorite looking gle generations. I do like the new Defender as well nice looking ride, yea everyone leases these reliability means nothing in this class

@stratstablos the point of buying a luxury SUV/ car is to have something more than enough. I test drove both 300d (which has way more torque than 300) and also 450. Difference is very noticeable. 300d revs up and make noise which spoils the otherwise a luxury feeling but 450 moves the car very smoothly and effortlessly.

It actually has a screen that shows me what's in front of me? Like I can't see what's in front of me anyway? And there is this "keep you on a straight track" BS function that will apply itself by default. What it does is that it misstakes painted lines for dangerous obstacles and brutally throws the steering wheel to the side to avoid a collision with the NON EXISTING obstacle. Thank you but I'd prefer to drive the car myself! And all the digital processes are so slow that when you press the start button you can go and have lunch and come back before the car is ready to drive away. Oh I forgot, I really appreciate the absolutely meaningless multi-colored circus lighting that lines the interior. I suppose they are there to make me happy since everything else is failing? But best of all dysfunctional lunacy must be the "Hi Mercedes" function. Possibly it works in English, but in Swedish I could ask for navigation, and it turns on Frank Sinatra on the radio. What a joke! I could go on forever about this over-rated child's toy. It has come to the point where I'm willing to trade it in at a loss to get a real car that just works and let's ME be the driver! Anyone who needs all these ridiculous driver-assist gadgets is probably not capable of driving a car in public anyway.
