    Wow I had never herd of a false stitch before, that's crazy!! CORINNA you are amazing! Don't ever let anyone tell otherwise!!

    i believe the only thing you did wrong was to give up too soon. In my mind, I'm picturing making the required short rows, then begin the rounds again until it's long enough. You did well! Believe in yourself and trust the process. I think you would look fierce once it's done, you may want to revisit this and finish it. You'll be glad you did!

    I don't think you did it wrong. The short rows would have brought it together as the brim

  • @snospmoht3252
    @snospmoht3252 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    The 2nd row started before the first row and should also extend beyond the first row. I'm talking to you thru my screen lol. It's a brim girl. It's a hat brim that gets wider and longer but shallower towards the ends of it. No you did not screw it up at all, you just didn't finish it. It would've been quite cute. It is not a fail. But you obviously weren't feeling it so it's okay to let it go. Especially if your hands were hurting.

    I think maybe if you continued the decreases it may have drawn it all in. Try finishing what you were thinking.

  • @myggggeneration
    @myggggeneration หลายเดือนก่อน +28

    You should have continued, I think it would have worked out with the short rows and then even, circular rows to finish it. 🙂 Maybe continue once your hands feel better. 💖

      I had the same thought. It seemed as if the decreases would have pulled it into the point where the brim could be finished.

    You are amazing for trying these patterns as mysteries. I understand your feeling of doing something the wrong way, but I think that’s half the fun of what you are doing. I say, as long as your hands can handle it, keep going with it. We’ll love it regardless of if it’s right or wrong. 😊

    Love this pattern. I agree with others who commented, you didn’t do anything wrong on this pattern. Those short rows would have made the brim you were expecting. ❤❤❤ We believe in you, believe in yourself too!

    I really wish us crocheters and knitters all around the world could unite and standardise yarn sizes/thicknesses ... 4 ply yarn in South Africa is really thin, thinner than DK, which is thinner than Aran - which here we would call Chunky, oh the challenges we face.😂. I said HAT just as you said HAT 😂😂. And then I thought it looked like another toilet seat lid cover - I'm obsessed with toilet covers at the moment 🙄 - its because my 50yr old toilet REALLY needs a facelift 😂😂.

    I think the short rows were to decrease the brim & once finished the short rows would give the poofy look of the beret in the picture. I’m sure if you finish you will have another chic hat to model! Crafty hugs 👏👏❤️❤️🇬🇧

    I love watching your videos, Corinna, in this crazy world they are a little slice of calm, creativity, and loveliness! I have to admit that knitting is my 'go too' usually, but you have got me crocheting a few doylies and samplers! I love vintage, and I love how you explain clearly, so it looks so tempting to have a go too!! 😊😊❤❤😊😊❤❤

    For anyone who wants to evenly space the increases:
    Round 14: we need to increase 20, 80 ÷ 20 is 4, so every fourth stitch is an increase
    Round 17: we need to increase 20, there are 20 puffs in the previous round, so every puff gets an increase

    Please go back to what you were doing once you’ve rested your hands lol. I’m with the others who think this is what the decreases are for. I don’t think it was a fail at all. Maybe sometimes it’s better to walk away for a while, when the pattern is confusing. I’d rather wait an extra day for a video where you figure it out in the end as I’m cheering you on 😅❤

    I think you were exactly right (except perhaps the puffs - maybe they go one row deeper?) until you lost faith in the pattern; the short rows are supposed to get longer gradually building up the front crescent of the hat. I think it would be fine to finish from there. And fruity-themed versions would be super cute!

    I think when you did the puff stitches is when you pulled the yarn through the 7 loops was the stitch so when you pulled another loop through your making a chain stitch so it’s like your adding a chain after your puff Stitch. Because when you make regular stitches you only pull a loop through the last two loops and you don’t pull another loop through.

    So many great guesses. Regarding changing the color of bobbles, I think you could get away with multi colors depending on the color of yarn you begin with. The green looks amazing with yellow, and you can try a peach or pastel blue. I encourage you to finish this project because it is not a fail . The short rows you're crocheting now are the brim of the beret , each short row is going over the last row becoming longer and connecting the brim all the way around probably looking like a half moon. Please 🙏 🙏 please finish this project.

    It appears as if you do your decrease twice with the 6 sc. Then dec again over the next 2 stitches - 3rd dec. (no 6sc for this dec) = 3 dec's. Just guessin' but this would make it cinch up quick :)))
