Great accurate presentation of these Speed Queen washers. As A 35 year experienced appliance tech I believe the Speed Queen TC5 models to be the best washer available today.
@@marksappliance A bit of advice to anyone reading this, I guess more wisdom, Buy ONCE, Cry Once. It may hurt the first time, but over the life of a really quality made product it's worth it. I learned this the OUCH method, quality tools work, right tool for the right task. Cheap tools will cause rounded off fasteners, which will in turn cause busted knuckles, which will cause you to bit your lip, your tongue, new words and then depending on the pain level, new word combos and could also cause said cheap tool to learn to fly, then bounce into something you didn't want it to, repeat cycle till clean or the wash, sorry pain is over. Also have to factor into downtime, repair cost, replacement cost over "X" number of years. Also Drew, I enjoyed your new briefer lack of polish, didn't feel like a used cars salesman feel of being oversold and underperform product pitch.
I would definitely get the tc5 model if they added the option to control your water level because me as a consumer do different loads of laundry. Say I have microfiber cleaning tiles that I use daily to clean and dust and whatever else around the house. Well it's quite a small load and of course you really aren't supposed to mix microfiber with other towels, especially ones that have cleaning products on them. So the tc5 in that category would be considered wasting water because you got a small load but it's filling ing almost all the way but if they added a water control option like they did the commercial Maytag, I definitely would be getting rid of my TR7 and going with a tc5 Plus I really don't like this perfect wash system because as quiet as the washer is there's times it doesn't really clean. Well cuz you don't have that rollover action. So you got clothes still sitting on top? Just trickling away while the clothes under are getting more cleaning action because it has more access to the water
I wouldn't agree with you 25 years ago. Commercial Quality is nothing more than a label... a label that sadly means nothing in most cases. For example, a regular Whirpool washer sold in any Appliance store surely wouldn't be up to the task of surviving a Laundrymat would it? The short answer is no... but they did it anyway and they have done it for years. Whirlpool Commercial Washer with coinbox CAE2745FQ 3.7 Cubic Foot Retails for $1,100 It is almost identical to their regular Washer but it has a setup for a coinbox and what they normally do is upgrade the motor to a 1/2 HP. In the older Direct drive Models the Residential High-end washers like KitchenAid washers and Kenmore Elite series would get the 3/4 HP motor like the Commercial but the rest of the parts in the unit were the same as residential washers. Commercial Quality? Really?.....YES... Speed Queen is the exception and not the norm!
This New Speed Queen is a different animal than the older units. The Commercial Quality label far too often is a cheap marketing ploy but in the case of Speed Queen, it holds. Quite remarkable to see that in this day and age. Speed Queen (Older Model - AWN432SP111) The nightmare of Speed Queen... As a Technician of 30+ years I can tell you that the older Speed Washers were like a hybrid Frankenstein of Amana and Admiral Washers with a little Matag tears mixed in. I do not know one technician who liked these older model Speed Queen washers. To us technicians it was like an Amana Washer cheated with an Admiral Washer and Maytag messed him up. If you never worked on one they actually seemed like a 'Frankenstein' of washers and when they worked...they worked great. The problem was when something broke or started leaking it was normally a big repair. These were not fun to work on. Most repairs involved removing the entire unit from the shell flipping it over and working on it. Not ideal in many homes where the washer is not in a basement but in a closet or bedroom. Types of common repairs - They had a Thrust Bearing Assembly and I did many of those, rust was an issue. To stop the spinning tub they used a brake package and this was also to hold the inner basket from spinning during the wash cycle. If the brake pads went bad the washer would spin and wash at the same time causing floods. I did a lot of tub seal and tub bearings for noise and leaks. The other main issue was that the pumps would get a faulty center seal and weld themselves to the motor shaft causing the motor shaft to swell with rust and you could not get the pump off the motor. Just like that a pump and belt condemned another unit and this was a common theme for a while. Is it a Buy or Don't Buy? The new Speed Queen is a solid Buy! ... for the Washer. For the dryer, I would stay away from it and get the world's best dryer... a Whirlpool dryer with the lint filter on top. You could buy 2x Whirpool Dryers for the Prices I am seeing for a Speed Queen Dryer. That is crazy! These units made by Whirlpool have about a 7 Cubic foot-sized drum and retail for only $529 for the Electric and $629 for Gas Models. They have made this model for over half a century and they just last. If you had a Kenmore dryer with the Lint Filter on the Top surface you had a Whirlpool. Whirlpool Models Referenced from Whirlpool Website... Whirlpool Dryer Electric 220v Model WED4950HW $529 on sale at Whirlpool 7.0 Cu. Ft. Top Load Gas WGD5010LW Model WGD5010LW $629 A Speed Queen Washer and 2 Whirpool Dryers Looks amazing in the basement and the wife will Love You! Trust me I had 2 Washers and Dryers for many years. For the same price, you can get 2 dryers that will probably last a decade longer.
We've had ours for 12rys. Zero problems. The equestrian barn where my daughter keeps her horse, has a commercial SQ front loader... That machine does nothing but wash horse blankets, and been running everyday for the last 18yrs with no problems. There are 30 horses at this particular barn.
That is pretty amazing! I also supply washers and dryers to a local racetrack. I tell people the track is where they go to die. There are some cheap brands that are half rusted, and still keep working. I prefer to put in classic direct drive Whirlpools or a washer that might be tougher than SQ, the 2 belt Maytag. Wash on 🤘
@@gregorystatt5562 Hi Gregorystatt5562, are these models you mentioned in above thread available now in 2024? If so, where could I purchase them? Thanks for any advice. Jim
I've had my TC5 for a year & I still love it. Best money I ever spent. People worried about drum size, I wash our Kingsize electric blanket in washer no problem!!
@Mark's Appliance I have a 1987 Maytag top loader that still works great that I bought used 8 years ago, but I would buy a Speed Queen if I need to buy new.
@marksappliance can ask you if in 2024 there is an actual mechanical tc5? I needed a black unit but those apparently don't exist but a local guy just told me the tr7 and tc5 both go to circuit boards behind the scenes, law, auto full etc. And not to be fooled by the knobs...I'm about to go mismatched and just get it white, but if this is true I'll get the tr7. Anything is better than samsung...
I've had a TC5 for several years having purchased it the first year it was on the market. I have no regrets. It is a classic top-load washer. It cleans well, uses enough water to rinse thoroughly, and is built like the proverbial tank. I wish it spun a little faster but other than that it is great. Also consider that SQ is sold by local dealers (profits stay locally) and built by US workers (good for the economy). They are pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
Bought a maytag commercial broke first wash same day it was delivered, got a replacement arrived broken, gave up and got a tc5 love it, built like a tank, had it now for 3 years.
I have a Maytag , bravo X. And sometimes I have to spin the clothes two times. I would love to get a speed queen cause I’m ready to throw this Maytag into the trash. We just keep trying to fix the bouncing tub and the crappy Springs. Wow sounds like me because I’m 73 now. I hope no one wants to replace me with a speed queen. But that might be kind of fun. Sorry I digress. Take care.
@@blackrifle6736 I think it has to do with the more complex automatic features, like determining the water level for you based on the weight of the clothes at the beginning of the cycle. Because of that, the machine can't allow people to interrupt the cycle without the machine knowing that the cycle is being interrupted. I would prefer that one be able to set the water level manually, but the US government has outlawed that on Energy Star rated washers. I also hate that warm water rinse cycles are outlawed by the US government (must use cold water rinse).
We purchased a TC5 about 9 months ago. It is the absolute best washer we have owned. Before this we had 2 front load that did not wash the clothes properly. With our TC5, the clothes come out very clean. Worth every penny we spent, yes they are more expensive but we don't regret purchasing this washer.
@@sauleomarova7730 I had six washers in eight years, Maytag, various avatars of the Whirlpool, a GE and an LG, none of which lasted a week past the warranty. Each time one broke down I went to the corner coin laundry, and noted that they had top-load Speed Queens, some twenty-five years old or more. They acually got my clothes clean. I checked the TH-cam videos and bought the TC5000 the first week they hit the market. Cleans better than any of the other machines I've had since my 1985 Maytag, and it has already outlasted the previous three machines.
Thank you so much for the education on Speed Queen. We had Speed Queens in our previous house but the new owners wanted the set so we left them. Trying to research washers now, but my heart belongs to Speed Queens. And now I know why! They are the best!
You’re a really good explainer who seems to know the products and their use cases well. I appreciate your steady, chill delivery and that you don’t “discriminate” or seem to personally favor one model over another in the line.
I'm getting the TC-5! I'm a construction worker with 7 Amstaff Terriers a King Size bed and some cats! I had a Sears 5.4 top loader but the cabinet rusted out, bought a LG 5.4, a piece of crap! Spend hours washing and it barely removes the dirt! forget about the dog hair! If these are the same people that built the washers used in the Chicago Washaterias! Then I want one! They would remove concrete off my Carhartt's! And a drier! Need to be hooked up to quality people who sell these products in the Houston area! Thanks Byrne 👍
Great video, I tried to buy a Speed Queen in 2021 and none around, I ended up with a Maytag that crapped out. I am now the proud owner of a Speed Queen once it gets delivered, i can't wait to get it.
Because of the information you provided and how clearly you explained it, I purchased the TR7 washer and dryer last night. You answered all the questions I had been thinking about and I'm sick of having to replace a unit, at the most, every 9 years. Appliances aren't made the way they used to. My mother's dryer is 35 years old and still working perfectly! You just can't expect that anymore. Not going to lie, it killed me to spend the money, but I thought, I could spend $900 now on one washer or dryer and have to repair or replace it in a few years, or I spend the money now and won't have to. It's inconvenient to have to do that, as well. So thank you for your clear and concise presentation.
Thank you. I was confused about the different models. Our 35-year old Kenmore washer died this week. My mother is pretty adamant about buying something similar, and you know these days obtaining a quality durable washer is hard to find in the market. The TC5 may be the washer that will make her happy. Thank you for breaking down all the models!!!!
Wonderful video Drew. Gonna throw down on some new speed queens as soon as the sun comes up. Other brands will never share our home. Taking the LG's out back to the shooting range for a proper send off. At least for once they will give us some pleasure. Long live made in the U.S.A...... just like my babies.
DNW…we also hated our LG top loaders. Biggest waste of money, useless, non-cleaning slow washer designed in pits of hell. My husband wanted me to donate it since it was less than year old when I could take no more. There was no one I hated that much and I REALLY wanted to shoot it as I had been threatening to do. We lived on remote acreage so he hauled it out back and I literally did use it for target practice. Then he hauled the remains to dump. It was a VERY satisfying experience. If you have a safe space, I say go for it!
I once calculated that I'd washed over 5000 cloth diapers back in the day (50 years ago) using a Maytag washer that had the same features as the TC5 SQ. The diapers were thrashed around via that center spindle and were clean! That machine went to washer heaven about 13 years ago so we bought a SQ that had the same desirable spindle wash action. Dirty dog/cat blankets, farm work clothes, delicates - no matter what items go into the washer, they comes out clean and fresh smelling. I'll add that we have TWO Great Pyrenees dogs - heavy Spring shedders!!
This is absolutely the best presentation of Speed Queen washers I've seen out there. I love my Speed Queen and have had it for over a decade! Thanks for taking time to explain each model and what features/warranties they have. It's obvious you know what you are talking about. Great job!
I wish I’d known Speed Queen before purchasing a Samsung top loader 5 years ago. What a steep learning curve it was going from a traditional agitator washing machine to an HE machine- learning how to manipulate the cycles to get your clothes slightly clean was a chore! After having to disassemble it at least once a year to clean out the sludge & slime that collects inside the impeller, hubby took it apart for the last time- all the bolts broke taking the washtub out for cleaning. While it can be fixed, I AM DONE! Going to replace it with a speed queen and hope to never experience the frustration of having your clothes come out of the machine dirtier then when you put them in ever again! Thank you for the informative video- pretty sure we’ll be happy with whatever we choose, altho I’m leaning towards the TR5
Our first SQ washer lasted about 30 yrs B4 the seal in the transmission began leaking oil into the wash tub and staining clothes. The only repairs were a new belt, and new brake shoes. Once it did lock up, but it was a child’s sock that got jammed in the water pump, which in the TC is driven by the same motor. It’s been 42 years now since we bought the matching dryer, and it’s still going strong. Replaced the gas valve solenoids once, two drum rollers, and it’s on a fourth set of felt drum seals. It looks weird sitting next to the replacement washer because of the fake wood grain on the control panel. Best, it’s still made in the USA! I may buy another pair just to have, in case the government bans the sale of non HE washers and dryers. It would be the last ones I’d ever own in my lifetime.
I watch this video got all type of clarity and forgot to give you guys props. I am so glad that you explain this because you basically let those of us who thought all hope was lost know that the old-school traditional washer still exists. It’s just shrouded in different labels so that Speed queen can be compliant. For most of us , the TC5 is what we’re looking for
I feel the same way. Just called Lowe’s to pick up a set of new Maytag we purchased. Terrible machines. I just bought them during 7/4 sale. Time to find me some Speed Queen machines.
@@espianmashias9565 I believe you'll like the SQ. I got the TC5, as I wanted as close to I could get to the old Kenmore I had. I don't like these new-fangled electronic machines with all the tones they play. So far, other than a problem from the delivery company dropping the machine & cracking a ring under the bottom, I do love the washing machine!! The dryer is good, too, but you could probably do just as well with a less expensive dryer. The DC5 doesn't seem as hot as my old Kenmore, which I loved!!
We bought a TR7. It's hands down the best washer we've ever had! It cleans very well. Quiet. Our clothes seem to be lasting longer. Our dog blankets come out clean. Solid and built like a tank. There seems to be no way this thing can go out of balance. Our last machine, an LG was FOREVER going out of balance and not finishing loads. Clothes were dirty. I can't say enough about the TR7. If you're leaning towards it, buy it, you won't regret it.
Thank you for this video!! You did a great job presenting the comparison. I have been trying to figure out these models for hours. Just made my decision so much earlier and better informed.
Hello Drew! I just watched your video on Speed Queen washers. I will say that you gave the best review on these washers that I have viewed. You are are very thorough and I really appreciate it. You answered questions I had. Keep up the good work. Yes, I will buy one.
I have a speed queen needing a new one. After 21 years I would never change it for anyone other name. But it got rusty. And I recommend it highly. Speed queen is awesome!
I have watched some other videos on Speed Queen and yours is very good. I have been thinking about SQ for 2 years, we bought a condo with an old washer/dryer. Getting ready to buy. For 2 people I do a lot of laundry, leaning towards the TC 5.
We had a multi-featured big box store top loader which would not clean clothes. With the miserly eco water control and impeller our clothes never got clean. Bought a TR7- allows you to use all hot water if needed, you control the water level, agitates the clothes enough for cleaning yet does not destroy bras or shirt buttons. This is how clothes should be washed. Well worth the money.
Thank you for this video! I tried to get this information online but Google is so bad now, trying to make money but not serving the users, that I couldn’t find it. Fantastic. I love that TC 5. Has everything I wanted.
I bought my first Speed Queen in 1985. The machine was top of the line and I had it 18 yrs and gave it to my niece. I never had to call a serviceman. My daughter and sister have both purchased SpeedQueen after trying other machines that didn’t last long. As soon as I move I’ll buy another. I don’t want to move a SpeedQueen because they are very heavy machines
TC5 is electro-mechanical. Tried and true technology. Been around for a loooong time. The TR7 runs off a electric control board and the agitator and drum rotated together. If you google Speed Queen, they show the assembly process. Speed Queen has nothing to hide.
@@glennkonze4920 : TC5 is not a true electo-mechanical, it has an electronic board inside that it's called "Output Board", check at 11:13 and you will see it on the lower left corner.
@@glennkonze4920 the TC model is a hybrid of old technology in terms of its conventional transmission drive with computerized control of all functions. There is NO mechanical control!
Great rundown on the SpeedQueen washers! Definitely will be going with one of these models when I build our retirement house. Thank god there’s still something made in USA 🇺🇸 with decent quality and without all the useless bells whistles and safety/eco-police garbage. So far have lucked out with our Maytag Atlantis. Fortunately I’m handy and combined that with the fact it’s still somewhat the old school design/construction. Cams, relays, no membrane touch pad bs. I’ve been able to keep it running 20 yrs now.
I just got rid of my older ge washer and the dryer broke and the part like 150 so i wasn't investing that into the unit. Anyway, I'm going with Samsung and I'm regretting it the more I look at brands lol. Is what it is though. 1500 doesn't buy you much anymore. If only we knew to stock about 1000 washer and dryers from 20 years ago, we'd of at least tripled our money because id pay current prices for a new old stock washer from 20 years ago for sure lol.
Interesting technology on the TR series. I don't have a Speed Queen but I hear they are the No. #1 brand. I have a classic agitator machine for heavily soiled items and a portable impeller machine for lightly soiled items.
Lots of info! I don’t even know why I’m watching these at 1AM, but now I want a new washer lol. I’m worried if I got a TC my clothes would get torn up because of the agitation but also because clothes quality nowadays sucks as it is.
It does have a gentle cycle, but I never bother with it. I think the risk of clothing being damaged is overstated. At least it doesn’t twist garments or tie them in knots like some of the other models do - I think that’s more damaging.
I now have both the front loader and top of the line tr7 top loader. I love them both. You get what you pay for. I had a whirlpool cabrio that fell apart after 5 years and a Samsung that was recalled. No more plastic garbage for me. These are all superior quality
How rough is the TC5 on clothes? Are we talking holes in linen and cotton? Would washable silk be ok on the delicate cycle in a wash bag? I’m wanting to strip towels with a long soak. I’m guessing the TC5 would work really well for that?
Well done, Drew. My wife and I just bought matching TC5 model washer and dryer. Only had them about 2 weeks. So far, we're happy. Time will be the ultimate test, naturally. We were tired of buying "American made" washer/ dryers that only had the name but are manufactured in good ol' China. Yes, it's all garbage. We've gone through way too many of those. No more. We wanted to be able to lift the lid for various reasons without having to pause it and end up starting a whole new cycle. We wanted a washer that didn't dance across the room on spin cycles. We didn't want electronic gadgets and couldn't possibly care any less, for wifi or other nonsensical and ultimately, problematic electronics. TC5 is simple, it agitates, it can be opened, so far- no dancing and the wash is done in about 30 minutes so I have to believe it's using less energy, too. The clothes and towels smell cleaner because they ARE cleaner. It spins the clothes very well and that means less time in the dryer and hopefully, that translates into lower energy use! I hope I never have to buy another set!
Greetings, just found your. Channel. We purchased a tc5 about 4 days ago and we love it. Great video and explanation on speed queen products. Your video just mafe us even more confident we purchased the right washer. Thank you!!
Thanks for the excellent review! I am looking for a new washer/dryer set, and my gas company sells Speed Queen. I have purchased five other gas appliances from them, and they sell only the best, and they stand behind and service what they sell. So the only two washers they sell are the TR5 and TR7 series. Well I've had all I can take of the better ideas and want to go back to the basics that really worked. After watching your video, the TC5 is the only washer I would choose. So I dropped in at the gas company today to ask if they could order a set in, and the sales gal and I just started looking at the TR5 and TR7 on the floor when a guy from the back came out and told me they happen to have a TC5 set that just came in. How about that!!??!! Needless to say I bought the set on the spot. Now I also get to make the last transition to gas and pull my electric clothes dryer out.
Excellent review on the Speed Queen TR/TC series washers! Keep up the good work! Are you going to review the Speed Queen DR/DC series dryers? I am curious.
I went in to purchase a TC5 today and wound up getting the TR5. The salesman convinced me it was the better of the two. They deliver it next week. Im excited. Wish me luck🤞🏽
I, too, would like to know if you're happy with your decision to get the TR5. How's it been treating you and your clothing/ bedding, thus far? Like you, I went into the appliance store--just tonight, in fact--with the intent to buy a TC5; after looking over the options between it and the TR5, my husband and I decided to get the TR5. (We don't have heavily-soiled clothes to clean; plus, I like the features of the DR5 dryer and plan to get that model down the road.)
*2023 TC5003 has one logic control board, not a "computer", located in waterproof but service-accessible plastic container mounted in lower area of left side panel. All TRs have much more failure-prone, useless electronic crap. You want no electronics you'll have to find a build date prior to 2018. Good luck with that!*
Excellent video, young man! I just bought a Maytag washer and dryer from Mark’s last year but if/when they give out I will definitely check out these Speed Queens. I’m assuming Speed Queen makes a dryer as well.
They make everything. Top loader, front loader, electric dryer, gas dryer, industrial. If you want a longer warranty, for a few bucks more you can extend it to 10 years parts & labor. Speed Queen has always stood behind their products. Rather than requesting assistance from a mega corporation, you deal with local dealers. Parts are readily available and with a repair manual, most can repair their own machine.
Drew, Great video. What SQ is your recommendation for top load or front load set for a 55+ couple in a small home? Current washer is crazy loud (top load) . Looking for an efficient unit that is quiet . I know you said the TR model is 43 decibels. Do you have a review for SQ front loaders? Thank You.
I had mine 36 years with no issues. It finally started rusting out and leaking on the floor. They have brought them back under the Classic Clean name, with the springs, and I wish I could get one but my laundry door is smaller now and I'm not sure it could squeeze in. I'm actually thinking of widening the door. All the smaller machines have those impellers instead of agitators. I noticed the Speed Queens now have a 5 year warranty , although salesman have told me the classic, not the computer ones still can last 25 years.
Thanks Drew! You are a very knowledgeable young man! I’m in the market to purchase a new washer and hard to justify spending this kind of money, but after this video you kind of sold me plus the crap I went through with my 4 year old GE
As a tech for 23 years I have never seen a washer built as well as the TR Washer. I also have never seen a washer clean as poorly. The regular old speed queen top notch. If they made the TC with the TR7 options it would be a masterpiece.
@@dianehaskins8640 Yes definitely no question. UNLESS cost isn’t a concern then I would get the speed queen front loader. It’s the nicest product I have ever bought. My boss is a Maytag man and he hates that I own a SQ. He still sells them with confidence that you would have in them back in 1990 when they were their own company.
@@Brownie-tg3nu Speed Queens market their "Perfect Wash" system as being 5% cleaner than a traditional agitator, but I have had one customer return their TR5 model for a TC5 model because it didn't clean as good. I haven't had other customers do this, just one, but it is certainly a different wash as clothes don't move around very much like in a traditional agitator. Funny enough, we STARTED in 1994 as a Maytag store. For 12 years we only sold Maytag appliances, back when the LAT models were around, and while I own a new Maytag myself today and still love their products, I wouldn't put anything on the market up against a TC5. Maytag is releasing a new 5-year warranty MVWP586GW model this month, and I'm excited to see how it will match up.
@@marksappliance my boss sells them. They are much better than these current Maytag washers. I would still buy a speed queen front loader for the regular, classic speed queen. And I think we both know that the speed queen TR series is a dog. I have never seen something clean that poorly in my life.
@@marksappliance I'm going to agree with Brownie 1980 on this one, that I don't like that the clothes don't circular as well on the TR series washers. Not crazy about the indenting tub on.the TC5, and the previous models made 2017 and before. But I feel the TC series would get my clothes cleaner, if I had a TC washer. I personally prefer front loaders, and I only tried the laundromat models. My 2 local stores don't have front loader display models, as one store offers it for sale, but has yet to sell one. The other only gets 1 or 2 sales a year, and sells it to the customer at wholesale.
Very informative. Thank you! Last Wednesday, I purchased the Speed Queen TR7 Front Loader and the F7 Washer . They arrived this Wednesday. I've already done several loads of clothing. I was able to wash two quilts, at the same time, without the load becoming unbalanced and no "walking." Before, I had a Maytag washer and dryer. Two weeks ago, the display board went out. This was second time in seven months. It was still under warranty; however, I decided I wanted a brand-new washer. My search leads me to Speed Queen. In college, I remember Speed Queens was the brand used. I remember them being durable, and I rarely saw one out of order. Initially, I was going to purchase the Speed Queen top-loader machine. It's what I'm used to; however, after additional research, I decided to switch (I had been to Bray & Scarff to make the purchase) that evening, and the salesman that assisted was able to swap out my purchase. Since I also was having issues with the Maytag dryer, only sometimes drying the clothes, which meant I had to dry them again. I decided to purchase the Speed Queen F7 Dryer. The serviceman who installed the units kept praising the Speed Queens. He stated that the TR7 Front loader was the second one he's seen and installed. He took a picture of both the washer/dryer after they were installed. Sturdy, dependable workhorses. Hopefully, I'll never have to replace my washer/dryer again.
@@Edsresearch I do a lot of bulky loads since I have blankets/quilts that I tend to wash regularly. The top loader I had would cause my washing machine to become unbalanced or shut off. I have not had a single load become unbalanced with this front-loading machine, and I have washed two quilts simultaneously. It also does an excellent job of keeping our laundry clean. I do a lot of work outdoors on our property, and my clothes can get filthy. My Speed Queen front loader has gotten all our items clean.
@@threadlovert1393 Great news. I think the front loader is top of my list now. I will purchase the base also, so it is taller and I don't have to bend so much. I'm not too sure about the dryer, are they worth it? I do not care that the door opens to the side. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I much appreciate it.
@@edwina3358 I like the dryer also. The high setting really gets hot. I only use that for all-natural fibers and some of my cotton quilts. I'd read that the washing machine can get musty; however, I keep the door partially open after removing the clothes and swapping to the dryer and never had that issue.
@@threadlovert1393 OK. That's good to hear. I haven't seen anything yet negative about SQ FF7 smelling musty. I wasn't going to get their dryer, but just found out it has a blower power, than most which I will need cause of the venting set up. Thanks a million for the tips and responding. Kind regards
would washing a king size comforter for example get "hung" up? haven't used aggitator style in over 30 years and I remember things getting "off balance" a ton and fighting with that issue ; deciding between the TC and TR
My very ancient and very basic Sears Kenmore washer from the mid '70s decided that it was time to overflow and flood the place last year. I got online to research the SQ TC5, the reviews were very good so I went to my local appliance store (yes they still exist) to look at one. I was kinda shocked at the price but I had them deliver and install the machine, the reviews were right and it works great. It's a very well built machine that's made in the US with a 'Buy Once, Cry Once' price tag and I've no regrets purchasing one.
@@ceilingtit The TC5 has been a solid machine for me so far, it's only been a year since I bought it though. The TC5 has the real agitator just like washers from back in the day and because of that the cycles are about 40 minutes long and the clothes come out clean.
The delay feature is useful for places with electric rates that vary by time of day. It can be significantly cheaper to run in the middle of the night.
I got a dishwasher with a 2, 4, 8 hour delay setting which I thought was a ridiculous feature at the time. But I find I use it ALL the time now. As LatitudeSky said this can really save on electrical & in my case also water consumption costs by being able to start the appliance at the right time.
Great video! Does anyone have feedback on which model is the best for washing bedding (comforters)? Any issues with the TC5 destroying delicate clothing? I do a ton of washing due to kids, and animals/farm life.
Don't look for anything else we are a family of 5 burned out 2 washing machines in 5 years now we have speed Queen washer and dryer they are wonderful 30 minutes finish clothes smell fresh as could be great product thank you.
ive got a TR7 which gest the job done for the most part.. although sometimes I do wish I had harder action.. however my TR7 gets clothes so much cleaner than the front loader I had previous.. and it definitely is quiet and thus far in 4 years reliable..
Excellent overview! I have a couple of questions. I understand that the actual capacity of the tub size is greater than it looks because the water can be filled to the top of the machine as compared to 70% fill with other brands due to water conservation requirements. I have two questions. 1) Will the tub size accommodate a king size blanket that is 108 x 100 inches with enough room for it to move during agitation? 2) If other manufacturers must limit the fill of the washer to 70%, how can Speed Queen comply with federal regulations and fill the entire tub? The size of the tub is troublesome because I don't want to go to a commercial washer when I am washing king size blankets. Thank you. One last comment. Speed Queen's website information indicates that the tub size is 3.2, not 3.5.
HAD MY SPEED QUEEN FOR A MONTH NOW AND IT IS SO SMOOTH OPERATING AND QUIET .MY MATCHING DRYER IS ALSO QUIET. IS COSTLY BUT SAVES ON REPAIRS (TR7-DR7) PURCHASED IN 2024 .
Great accurate presentation of these Speed Queen washers. As A 35 year experienced appliance tech I believe the Speed Queen TC5 models to be the best washer available today.
Thank you. I am sure you know a ton about these washers. I agree with you about the TC5. If I myself had the money, that is what I would go with lol!
@@mistersmith3368 *Ouch! And so true. Been there....*
Types of common repairs -
They had a Thrust Bearing Assembly and I did many of those, rust was an issue.

Well done! I've been selling Speed Queen for 38 years. Simply the BEST.
What’s your favorite and would recommend?
Do you know what the difference between a TC5 and LWN432? Beside the features, are they built the same?
I am alone and thinking about a TR5 , don't like panels, what is your advice? Thanks.
Wash on 🤘

Have an old Speed Queen washer and dryer purchased in 2006 and 17 years later still going strong!
I've had my TC5 for a year & I still love it. Best money I ever spent. People worried about drum size, I wash our Kingsize electric blanket in washer no problem!!
Yes!! You can do big loads in the Speed Queen’s and that’s a question we get all the time! Thanks for sharing

@Mark's Appliance I have a 1987 Maytag top loader that still works great that I bought used 8 years ago, but I would buy a Speed Queen if I need to buy new.
I paid $1,300 each
BY FAR the best overview of the Speed Queen washer line. OUTSTANDING !! Cadillac of reviews.
Thank you dude. I appreciate it.
Can it handle kind size comforter?
I've had a TC5 for several years having purchased it the first year it was on the market. I have no regrets. It is a classic top-load washer. It cleans well, uses enough water to rinse thoroughly, and is built like the proverbial tank. I wish it spun a little faster but other than that it is great. Also consider that SQ is sold by local dealers (profits stay locally) and built by US workers (good for the economy). They are pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
I just got the TC5 yesterday.. wow what a machine this is!!!
I got one back in 2020. Still very happy with it.
Take care.
I had GE. I had LG.
I have TC5.
It gets the grime out of my work clothes and it will probably outlast me.
I just bought a TC5, I've only done 5 loads so far and the no "Lid Lock' feature has come in handy twice already. Love it.
Wait 'til you've had it twenty years.
*Sure is nice to be treated like a competent adult for a change.*
On most other brands with a lid lock, you just hit the pause button, open the lid and put more stuff in, and then hit the start button again.
@@Mark-rw3kw *My mom and grandmas didn't need that Nanny crap, neither do competent adults today. We need fewer lawyers and more Darwinism.*
"It is the absolute best washer we have owned." -- you make it sound like you've owned dozens of brands and types of washing machines.

Happy to hear that this video helped you out. Thank you for your feedback 😊
How's your TR7 holding up? What about cleaning dirty clothes compared to traditional agitation
Omg mine did too! I was my grandma's Kenmore.
Great job, Drew. You made it easy to understand the differences between all the different models. Thank you!
Thank you!! I appreciate the kind feedback.
One of the most informative videos on the difference in the models ! I’m looking to buy one soon !!!

@@cynthiam.1368 get an LG the Speed Queens don’t last anymore my friends are having issues with theirs after a few months
Did you fix the transmission? Mine started putting out oil yesterday, so I'm looking for new. It's like a 1993 model😂

I am so glad that you explain this because you basically let those of us who thought all hope was lost know that the old-school traditional washer still exists. It’s just shrouded in different labels so that Speed queen can be compliant. For most of us , the TC5 is what we’re looking for

I did buy it 2 years ago and I strongly regret that I had to deal with that piece of junk.
As a blind person, I'd go for the tr5 as it has tactile knobs with slots in them so I can tell what cycle and options are set using the clock method.

So far have lucked out with our Maytag Atlantis. Fortunately I’m handy and combined that with the fact it’s still somewhat the old school design/construction. Cams, relays, no membrane touch pad bs. I’ve been able to keep it running 20 yrs now.

Great overview. We bought the TC5 and love it so far.. Thanks Drew
The question I wish you had addressed is "Does a queen size comforter fit in the TR7? How about the TC5? Thanks!
Yes queen fits, even put my king in.
R7 & c5 same size
All comforters are not the same size wise. Enuff said.
Interesting technology on the TR series. I don't have a Speed Queen but I hear they are the No. #1 brand. I have a classic agitator machine for heavily soiled items and a portable impeller machine for lightly soiled items.
Can any of the machines clean a king size comforter?
Lots of info! I don’t even know why I’m watching these at 1AM, but now I want a new washer lol. I’m worried if I got a TC my clothes would get torn up because of the agitation but also because clothes quality nowadays sucks as it is.
It does have a gentle cycle, but I never bother with it. I think the risk of clothing being damaged is overstated. At least it doesn’t twist garments or tie them in knots like some of the other models do - I think that’s more damaging.
Can these drums fit a king size comforter? Also, do you have a video reviewing the matching dryers?
Yes, they easily wash king-size. Haven't done the dryers yet, but will be soon
In my opinion the tc5 will be the best
I've enjoyed mine for a few years now, and expect it to last forever...
TC5 going to last 30 years trouble free just like classic 90s whirlpool.

Hi, how do you like your dryer? Gas version? Noise level when operating?
What a great video! I was on their website and this video answered all my questions.
Hey Drew, I very liked the video….keep em coming…!!!!
Excellent review on the Speed Queen TR/TC series washers! Keep up the good work! Are you going to review the Speed Queen DR/DC series dryers? I am curious.
I have a few other appliances I'd like to review before the Speed Queen dryers, but I'll certainly do it at some point.
I went in to purchase a TC5 today and wound up getting the TR5. The salesman convinced me it was the better of the two. They deliver it next week. Im excited. Wish me luck🤞🏽
I am thinking about a TR5. Are you happy with yours? Thanks.
@@PrayingForTruthso how do you like it? I’m leaning towards the TR5 for the same reasons. I’d love to know how it’s working for you.
Excellent video! Really appreciate how you marked at which minute you will begin talking about each washer. Thank you!
I have a TR5003WN, have had no problems wash comws out clean even with heavy dirt in my jeans.
I like that the T3 & T5 come with dials vs a computer panel.
They do have circuit boards, but different user interfaces.
Thank you for your excellent explanations of these machines!
You clearly explained the differences between the SQ Models. WIsh I had seen your review first. Would have saved me a lot of time.
Yes, I believe I spoke to you in the store a few times! Thank you very much for your business. Yes, Speed Queen does make a dryer!
Thank You.
VERY thorough presentation... THANK YOU!!
Thanks Drew for the great information!
Thank you so much, Drew! This is very helpful.
Thank you Drew, This helps me a lot !
Very informative! Thank you for helping me make my decision. I’m getting a tc5….
Wow all I can say to is I am sold , now to find out where to go , thanks for the good info
Learned a lot watching your video. Appreciate the in depth product review. 👍🏻
Thanks Drew! You are a very knowledgeable young man! I’m in the market to purchase a new washer and hard to justify spending this kind of money, but after this video you kind of sold me plus the crap I went through with my 4 year old GE
Thanks for the very helpful information!
As a tech for 23 years I have never seen a washer built as well as the TR Washer. I also have never seen a washer clean as poorly. The regular old speed queen top notch. If they made the TC with the TR7 options it would be a masterpiece.
Based on your experience if you were to buy a speed queen would you go with the TC 5?
I live in Southern West Virginia and can’t find a local retailer, has anybody ever had one shipped to their house from a dealer, how did that go?
Great information!!! I feel so much more prepared to purchase a machine. Thank you 😊
Great video in helping me understand and decide on which model might work best for me.
Thank you for the easy to understand explanation of the differences between the different models.
Very informative. Thank you!
Last Wednesday, I purchased the Speed Queen TR7 Front Loader and the F7 Washer . They arrived this Wednesday. I've already done several loads of clothing. I was able to wash two quilts, at the same time, without the load becoming unbalanced and no "walking."
Before, I had a Maytag washer and dryer.
Hopefully, I'll never have to replace my washer/dryer again.
so you bought the font loader, the FF7? What made you change your mind from the TR7 top load? Appreciate your help. Thanks
Speed Queen stopped making the TC5 style washer, people complained, and they brought it back, the TC5 is an amazing washer.
would washing a king size comforter for example get "hung" up? haven't used aggitator style in over 30 years and I remember things getting "off balance" a ton and fighting with that issue ; deciding between the TC and TR
@@cameronfeezee4989 I talked to someone at SQ today. They do not recommend any King comforter in any of the models, TC or TR, or FF.
@@cameronfeezee4989so which did u choose finally?
Will TC 5 hold king size comforter?
My very ancient and very basic Sears Kenmore washer from the mid '70s decided that it was time to overflow and flood the place last year.
I got online to research the SQ TC5, the reviews were very good so I went to my local appliance store (yes they still exist) to look at one.
I was kinda shocked at the price but I had them deliver and install the machine, the reviews were right and it works great.
It's a very well built machine that's made in the US with a 'Buy Once, Cry Once' price tag and I've no regrets purchasing one.
I'm researching washer models right now. How has your TC5 been treating you?
@@ceilingtit The TC5 has been a solid machine for me so far, it's only been a year since I bought it though.
The TC5 has the real agitator just like washers from back in the day and because of that the cycles are about 40 minutes long and the clothes come out clean.
@@slomotrainwreck Thank you for your input!
The delay feature is useful for places with electric rates that vary by time of day. It can be significantly cheaper to run in the middle of the night.
Hmmmm 🤔 never thought about that.
I got a dishwasher with a 2, 4, 8 hour delay setting which I thought was a ridiculous feature at the time. But I find I use it ALL the time now. As LatitudeSky said this can really save on electrical & in my case also water consumption costs by being able to start the appliance at the right time.
Thanks for a great video, very helpful !!
Great video! Does anyone have feedback on which model is the best for washing bedding (comforters)? Any issues with the TC5 destroying delicate clothing? I do a ton of washing due to kids, and animals/farm life.
Don't look for anything else we are a family of 5 burned out 2 washing machines in 5 years now we have speed Queen washer and dryer they are wonderful 30 minutes finish clothes smell fresh as could be great product thank you.
which model?
ive got a TR7 which gest the job done for the most part.. although sometimes I do wish I had harder action.. however my TR7 gets clothes so much cleaner than the front loader I had previous.. and it definitely is quiet and thus far in 4 years reliable..
Great video, my tc5 will be here tomorrow morning, just confirming my $1400 was used for a good product! I’m confident!
I had speed queen twins in the seventies. My favorite ones they lasted long. Things have changed since then.
oh, did you go to another brand or have a bad experience with SQ?
GREAT VIDEO in explaining common issues thought to be important by us, the consumers. I wish I could buy from you! Can you ship them to Florida?
With "gentle" action of the TR series, dies it "struggle" to clean large (not over filled, but large) loads?
Excellent, valuable review. Thank you Drew. No seconds wasted anywhere!
HAD MY SPEED QUEEN FOR A MONTH NOW AND IT IS SO SMOOTH OPERATING AND QUIET .MY MATCHING DRYER IS ALSO QUIET. IS COSTLY BUT SAVES ON REPAIRS (TR7-DR7) PURCHASED IN 2024 .
