Great video! Yes, I would definitely like to see a future video about the stacked version of the Speed Queen front load washer with the dryer on top. Thanks for such an informative review!
As a kitchen and laundry appliance contractor for 30 years, there are currently only two appliances today I recommend to my customers. A Speed Queen washer is one of them.
There are almost no appliances I consider a must buy. Speed Queen is probably the only exception. We've had two sets between our two different houses and they are just rock solid. I sing their praises any where I go.
Great review there. 👍 The baffles are solid even underneath so that they don’t have crevices to allow build up or mould to grow. They are also called a serpentine baffle as they are shaped like a snake, and the curves lift the water and drop it down back on the load for better wash results.
Does the front loader get dog hair off and does it tear up clothes I've had a problem with front loaders tearing up my clothes and also not getting the dog hair off.
I have a really slanted laundry floor so a stack unit would be best. But back when I had a top loader I never had dog hair on my clothes in the dryer. Would like to wash comforters and you know maybe if I only wash the king size lightweight comforter very lightweight it would be okay to get the top loader I just don't know how to work on the slanted floor, without pouring concrete. Right now I have a GE stacked unit but it's tearing up my clothes and it's brand new so I'm returning it.
Also I don't want to leave the door open all the time because it's in a narrow walkway so if you just leave it open till it's dry can you then shut it. I will install a fan right into the washing machine if I have to. The one thing I like about the GE is they have a fan inside I don't understand why everybody doesn't do this!
Drew, I would love to have these machines the next time that I'm ready to switch out my Whirlpool front loader that is so old that it's made in Germany! We personally have changed out the pump and because we used to use bleach, the piece that sent water to the different compartments of the road dispenser crumbled away. I have changed the moisture sensor in the dryer. If anything major goes out that I am not comfortable working on myself, that is when I will change them out. We've had Creda and the original Bosch's from Germany, but both of these were only 24" wide and could not accommodate anything King Sized. The Bosch's dryer would reverse directions, just like the washer did and nothing ever got tangled up when drying.
Thanks for the comment! The current models are the FF7009WN (Left-hinged door) and the FF7010WN (right-hinged door). These newest models have the Pet Plus feature. The older models do not. As far as the build goes, there is not significant differences.
My FF7 was just installed in my home today. Had to wait a month on it, but hopefully it's worth it. You said that one is quiet but mine has been squeaky and load. I assume someone forgot to spray silicone or lube on the tub suspension or something. Hopefully my retailer sends someone to look it over.
Hmm, let me know what happens. Definitely would have the retailer send their service department out since it's brand new. They shouldn't be squeaky, and even in the high spin part of the cycle, it was still pretty quiet relatively.
I see that you covered one of these over a year ago. Drew, what to you think about the full sized combo washer/dryers that are coming out now from more than just the small European ones? Basically adding an air conditioner to dry your clothes seems very complex and I have seen comments that complain that the coils get lint stuck in them and the consumer cannot clean them. Their edges are very sharp and you could really get some deep cuts if you touch them.
Can you review the quality of cleaning between the top load and the front load? I live in the country so lots of dirt with all the kids and want my investment to be worth my money. I’ve read the front loaders are supposed to clean better based on design but I currently have a front loader (not speed queen) and I’m simply not convinced.
@@brianandalyssagilliam1013 Top loaders typically clean better. If you’re considering a Speed Queen top loader, I would suggest the Classic Clean model. It’s based on the older style gearcase/transmission, whereby during the wash cycle, the only thing that turns is the agitator, effectively removing stains and giving you a better and more effective wash action.
@@threedog22 I 1000% disagree that top loaders clean better. But that doens't mean I hate the good old fashioned top loaders that clean good too...but after having both I have to say (for me) I think they do clean and rinse better. The ONLY modern top load washer I would buy is speed queen... but I would buy an LG front loader or SQ front loader. I hear LG's are very easy to work on if something goes wrong compared to the others.
Top loads work better IF there's a central agitator, not the drum fins. The front load actually rolls the clothes so there's no way an article of clothing can "ride" the entire cycle without getting moved and cleaned which can and does happen in top load, drum operated washing machines.
@@One-Day-After-Another We have the LG laundry pair and the front loader washer is not that easy to work on. You typically have to disassemble most of it to do repairs such as pump replacement and drum bearing replacement. You have to take apart and/or remove the door gasket each time. The first time I replaced the drum bearings I had my older teen-age son help me and it was a ten hour job. After getting two cold chisels to pound out the bearings and the tool to release the wire snap-rings around the door gasket we went down to six hours and then eventually four hours to do a drum bearings replacement. The three shock absorbers can be replaced without disassembly, but you have to have help to prop up one side so you can get to them. With the Speed Queen, it seems most models you remove eight screws on the front of the cabinet, and you have easy access to most parts on the top loaders. It looks like the front load Speed Queen would be similar in that you could remove screws to access parts from the bottom....or at least I would hope you could....
Between front load or top load, does one or the other use more water vs less water. We live on a farm, off grid water supply, so water usage can be a huge consideration vs how well the machine cleans all the stains/dirt we put it through.
The front load uses way less water to get your clothes clean. A TC5 will use, at minimum, 19 gallons. But deep fill I want to say is close to 30. This may use 14-15 gallons at most, and will get just as good of a wash action as the 30gal wash on a top load.
Story: In 2005 April, I bought a whirlpool duet front load washer... at the time they had 3 models... I chose the middle one with a built in heater...I think it was like $950 at that time... Not sure what that would be in 2024 dollars...but this thing STILL works. It has a plastic outer drum...but nothing on it is broken...I remember being told in 2005 that I would be LUCKY to get 10 years from it because appliances made today are so cheaply made... One lady said she was in Lowes and saw a display with a broken handle... at that time she was complaining how cheap they felt... (LOL) and here we are nearly 20 years later with it.. I have heard the criticism that Speed Queen washers are "rough on clothes", suggesting that they wear your clothes more than other washers. Is this true?
that wont be the case on a front loader at all. Because it simply drops the clothes to agitate them, they will nautrally be way more gentle on clothes. If you look at any historical info on front vs. topload washer, front loads always come out ahead on the tests due to gentleness. In most cases, its a huge advantage. In a few situations, maybe not tho
Also use less than the recommended amount of detergent especially If you have a water softener. It seems detergent manufacturers have the same instructions for both top and front loaders which is ludicrous. Front loaders use much less water.
I'm sorry, did you say not to use Gain or Tide? If it can't use Tide, I don't want it. The drain pump should be easier to service like LG has done. Shouldn't have to remove a panel to clean drain pump.
