What are the differences between front and top loaders other than the obvious?

I’ve seen people post on another TH-cam videos that the front load door cracks and breaks. Have you seen this?

TY for the vid: my question is - my TR5 is NEW and it seems to REFUSE to fill on COLD water wash: why?!? The cool water seems warm like bathtub temp: why?!? I am frustrated but ready to learn about this new machine (previously used Whirlpool 1985-ish machine -- yes, long life!) Any tips for me? TY

I have this set. It's a good machine. Cleans well. Cycles are fast. No nonsense. The annoyances....the lid lock and the fact that the warm or hot temperature setting cycles between the hot and cold INSTEAD of just opening both the cold and hot valve at the same time. This on and off with the cold and then the hot and then the cold water over and over again rattles my pipes that you can hear through the whole house. My old 1980s Maytag filled by opening both valves at the same time. I miss that. I also miss the brake to stop the spin cycle. Now you have to wait for the drum to come to a full stop before the lid unlocks. I also miss the water continuing to fill while the lid is open. It stops. Other than these annoyances it's a good machine.

Screw the GE. Once they went Chinee, no hope whatsoever.

After looking at that cheap plastic tub, it is clear that this washer is nothing near commercial quality. Speed Queen has you beat on so many levels. It makes me sad to say this as I have always respected Whirlpool products and still do to this day. But passing a cheap plastic design as "commercial" grade is a total ruse. Let's hope they can figure it out.

There are almost no appliances I consider a must buy. Speed Queen is probably the only exception. We've had two sets between our two different houses and they are just rock solid. I sing their praises any where I go.

I have a new Speed Queen gas converted to propane dryer and it works wonderfully!

We have had this unit for just under a year. We have a washer and dryer in our basement but we bought this unit to avoid stairs, my husband and I are both disabled. I can compare this with the stackable units that my parents have in their home, this is superior in every way! Absolutely love it!

My Samsung super speed high efficiency is total crap. Most companies have adopted the Chinese “quality “ control system. . . Looks like I’ll be buying a Speed Queen. Cha Ching, cha Ching, Ugh!! By the way, thank you for this review.

We replaced our he machine with a TC5 and we’re blown away by how much dirty water was in the tub that the old he machine left residue in the cloths that the SQ got out😊

With that software, doesn’t have a big price tag to fix if it goes sideways on you? At my local store it’s 200 more for this one over the Amana. I like this larger size, but I Am a little worried about price to fix and complicated repairs. Does that compartment tray get moldy? I have the machines in a must basement that needs constant dehumidifying. should I be concerned about that? I like the dryer mate to this one better than the Amanda’s dryer mate too. It’s a little cheap feeling.

We love our cheap Roper with mechanical knobs. It'll last forever!

No Samsung or LG?

My FF7 was just installed in my home today. Had to wait a month on it, but hopefully it's worth it. You said that one is quiet but mine has been squeaky and load. I assume someone forgot to spray silicone or lube on the tub suspension or something. Hopefully my retailer sends someone to look it over.

Can u keep lid open like the speed queen?

I see that you covered one of these over a year ago. Drew, what to you think about the full sized combo washer/dryers that are coming out now from more than just the small European ones? Basically adding an air conditioner to dry your clothes seems very complex and I have seen comments that complain that the coils get lint stuck in them and the consumer cannot clean them. Their edges are very sharp and you could really get some deep cuts if you touch them.

Drew, I would love to have these machines the next time that I'm ready to switch out my Whirlpool front loader that is so old that it's made in Germany! We personally have changed out the pump and because we used to use bleach, the piece that sent water to the different compartments of the road dispenser crumbled away. I have changed the moisture sensor in the dryer. If anything major goes out that I am not comfortable working on myself, that is when I will change them out. We've had Creda and the original Bosch's from Germany, but both of these were only 24" wide and could not accommodate anything King Sized. The Bosch's dryer would reverse directions, just like the washer did and nothing ever got tangled up when drying.

No thanks! Too many this and that and do this and do that. 45 minute wash cycle! crazy long! I will stick with top loader. Love my Maytag washer that is 40 years old - still works like a charm with easy to use controls and well thought out. Kids who grew up with video games and taking ADHD drugs have designed confusing complex controls on these new washers that defy logic - no thanks! When are you going to do a video on the Speed Queen dryer (the matching on to the top loader) I want to see how to switch the venting the the left side. I also wish they would make other colors than White and Black!

Great review there. 👍 The baffles are solid even underneath so that they don’t have crevices to allow build up or mould to grow. They are also called a serpentine baffle as they are shaped like a snake, and the curves lift the water and drop it down back on the load for better wash results.

You can use Vinegar for a fabric softener and it will not mess up your machine.

Production values: turn off the house music when shooting footage. Simply covering it up with royalty free canned music does not cover it up, and is a straight rookie move.

as an appliance tech as well i believe speed queen are just overpriced junk and its better to just fix up a used old washer than buy this stupid junk.Old washer even cleans better. Ive seen so many boards get wet because they are located under all the water and they are so expensive to replace SPEED QUEEN IS JUNK.
