13:45 Correct. Helicopter rotor blades break extremely easily when in motion. They also have extremely tight tolerances for inspections, and just about anything is cause for replacing them and sending them back to depot to be repaired. They are also stupid expensive.

I liked both Tomb Raider movies, but liked this one a bit more than the first one.

the PS2 trilogy had an entire system that allowed you to do silly dexterity tricks for no reason whatsoever, allowing you to combo then into different flips and rolls and jumps

I actually like the anti-hero route for Lara and wish they'd do it more in films and games. Instead of somebody just trying to save the world make her focused entirely on collecting rare things from legend to add to her collection, and having her having to solve a situation for other reasons.

The surprise ending is probably why critics slashed the movie. People want an happy ending.
Great review. If I were to add something it is that the movie music was great as well.
I admit that the shooting ending wasn't my cup of tea back then. But with all that Gerard Butler has given us in his acting ability I've found myself quiet fond of it now. Especially with his singing in The Phantom of the Opera.

I liked how in this movie the the viewer knows who the good guys are and who the bad guys are but with Terry, you don’t really know where he’s coming from. And then just when it seems he’s decided to be the good guy he reveals that he just wants the box even if it means shooting Lara, forcing her to put him down like a rabid dog
If he wanted the box for himself during the lab scene why didn't he let Reiss and his men get rid of Lara and then kill them and get the box ?

Great review. I quite liked Hillary. Not your average butlery type & have been a fan of Chris Barrie (from watching Red Dwarf, Brittas, some of his stand-up and impressionist stuff). I think from the novels (which you shouldn't have to read to understand the movies), it was stated that Hillary was the son of Lara's father's butler, and knew her all his life...or whatever. Just taking over from his dad, I guess. Not quite canon, but acceptable, in my opinion. Perhaps picked up skills like the stick fighting from Lara or from his own travels. (I noticed that in the first movie that his room is decorated with an Asian/Japanese aesthetic.) Anyway, I appreciated your review. Look forward to seeing more. :

American movies represent China as it was decades ago with the old buildings, huts, etc. It does not look like that in the cities.

Hey now, that part with Steppenwolf and the Amazons was really good. It's not his fault the rest of the movie was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode.

In all fairness about her seeming like an Antihero, she isn't really a hero in the games either. Essentially she just some rich knob that collects ancient artifacts because she can. She isn't Indiana Jones, she is literally just a Tomb Raider. And knocks over everyone else also looking for the artifacts. Not to say that she is a soulless murderer, but she absolutely isn't a hero either, which I actually really like about the games. The original good ones that is, not whatever Legend and 2013 are supposed to be xD

Yeah because pandoras box is a greek myth and zeus who gave pandora the box in said myth is "A God" and part of a pantheon of Gods.

The gamers eventually revolted about that Lara Croft: Tomb Raider nonsense somewhere between the games Anniversary and Underworld. That's why the actual title for Anniversary is Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Underworld's title is a more sensible Tomb Raider: Underworld. Because the Lara Croft name drop thing was dumb and redundant.
It didn't stop the developers from making those spin off Lara Croft titled games. They just couldn't let it go.
I've got a series suggestion it is called the evermoor chronicles it is a great show their is 24 episodes and they're really good please check them out
She really just punched a damn great white shark in the face. She did it and made it stagger like it was no big deal. In the "real world" the moment that big ass shark found the source of that blood, it would've ripped the living shit out of her arm, followed by Lara. Not get scared and swim away. That was seriously some BS.
Anyway, thanks for another awesome, funny review. I'm headed off to watch another one.
