I’m a vibrant 68 year old and 2 things have contributed to looking older grey hair and I am stricken with terrible arthritis and can barely walk. No matter how modern and fashionable I dress I feel like people see this first. So sad! Not giving up. My hair is coloured blonde I’m shopping my wardrobe as I have lots of clothes. Wear color and wear a lipstick and tinted sunscreen mascara and smile! Hang in there ladies. We are a huge tribe and deserve the best🦋Canada
Hi Denise, Thank you for taking the time to comment. This sounds very hard but I love your vibrant energy that is shining through. Always comment here because we want to keep that positive energy going! I am hoping to launch a membership community on here by the end of the year so we can interact properly! And YES we do deserve the best.
Michelle, I love your channel and I'm learning so much. I'm a 68 year old nurse, getting ready to retire in a year and a half, when I turn 70. My entire work wardrobe has been scrubs, so I need a lot of help. I love your philosophy and will be overhauling my wardrobe over the next year and half because I plan on really enjoying my retirement and being anything but invisible. Of course people who know me would say I'm the opposite of invisible. I have lots of interests and LOVE meeting people and hearing their stories. Originally from Texas, grew up all over the world and now live in the Seattle area. Power to us. You rock, Michelle.
Hi Lisa, Thank you so much for the kind feedback. I think it is great that you are planning on embracing this next stage. Interestingly I have family in Texas and Seattle, both very different! Im glad you are also planning on NOT being invisible go you! 😊
Thank you for caring for all of us first as people who are worthy of being "seen" and not just various shaped bodies that need clothes! I am 76 and live in rural Alabama. For 25 years I was a nurse in charge of a surgical unit and that gave me identity along with a set dress code. Since turning 70 I have lost height and now instead of average height I am a petite. Also, due to illness, I have lost 22 pounds. I truly feel small and invisible. My first step out of the shadows will be to add a new color to my closet and walk straight with shoulders back!
I am 64 and in Sweden. I started this journey several years ago after a long long illness. I had almost no cloths that would fit and had no clue what I needed or wanted. Now I am soo happy with my warderobes and my capsuls! Always looking to finetune, curate and to get inspired!
Hi Eva, Thank you for your comment. I am glad you are enjoying the process too, it sounds as if you deserve to enjoy it if you were ill for a long time.
TAKE UP SPACE. I AGREE! We get to take up as much space as anyone. I alsolutely agree, it's not about being arrogant. It's about acknowledging our right to exist and be confident. We DON'T need to be self-effacing to the point about invisibility. THANK YOU, CCS
I certainly do not want to look younger! But I want to look good and not feel dated in the close I wear. I do not want to feel like I am trying to be a teenager again! I am over 60 and loving life!
I love your comment about standing up for your ‘space’…..this is so true and I will now keep this in mind, as you are so right it is societal pressure ….at the gym young women particularly are so unfriendly I sometimes think this is because they are terrified that they may look like me when they get older 😂😂 hence why they are getting Botox in the 20’s and 30’s !!
I agree with you which is why I don't go! Even a recent yoga class totally ignored me. Duh? Yoga seems to have lost its true meaning!! For 9 years I attended a wonderful yoga class of all ages and we all bonded...(1986...1995)...how times have changed and I can't for the life of me understand why we've gone backwards. So sad.
This is sucha shame. I attend a yoga class on the beach and it is exactly as you describe, lots of different ages and we have all really bonded. In fact so much so I would now call them a group of friends. Is there not another class you can try nearby?
Hi, thank you for your advice and videos. It’s helping me at a time in my life where I’m unsure of how I should dress. I’m 66 years old and I can see that how I dress has changed since the menopause. I used to be confident in my choices of outfits, the extra weight I’ve put on has been the issue for me. I’m always trying to hide my body. I love your style and will be watching all your videos. It’s the help I’m needing. A big thank you. I think I would like to book a consultation. Best wishes and have a great day. I live in Lancashire, UK btw
Hi Janet, Thank you for your lovely feedback. I am glad you have found it helpful. I have another video coming out very soon about dressing when you have put a little weight on around the middle so look out for that. But please do book in I would love to meet you and talk to you about how I might be able to help you.
@joycerobinson855 I am so glad you found it great. I know some thought some were too young, which is a fair point, but I tried to choose the best to demonstrate what I was talking about.
This is amazing content and I love how it speaks to me. I’m 66 and I’m retired from being a university professor. I always enjoyed dressing in outfits, but after retiring, I just sort of gave up. However you give me inspiration. You are walking in your identity and calling my friend. Blessings to you!
I've just turned 70. I lost my husband last year and its been hard, I feel even more invisible. I want to look good and feel good! I don't know where to start. I'm pretty much in T-shirts sweats and jeans. You have encouraged me to want to improve my appearance. I appreciate your attention.
Hi Kay, I am so sorry to hear this it sounds like you have had a really tough time. Do you have friends and family around you? I think you should definitely be kind to yourself and think about you again. Try with the Pinterest board to start with to get inspiration. And remember there is not rush to get there quickly ❤️
Your first point resonated with me so much! I always defer to the people walking towards me, and particularly men. I keep remonstrating with myself every time it happens, but after 73 years, I find it difficult. It is compounded by the fact that young people don't respect older people now, so they expect me to get out of their way. Good on you for highlighting this.
Hi, I am almost 75, in November this year and do have trouble walking now, where some people probably think I’m a little tipsy, LOL. But I’m not, don’t drink. I’m slower than I used to be, not a beautiful model either. But when I’m walking into a store or such I may move over a bit but first I make a point to make eye content and said Hi, and if it warrants I’ll say Hi, how are you, with a smile and in a happy voice. Even if I’m feeling bad that day. I have Fibromyalgia, back and leg problems along with neuropathy. I’ve found most smile and say hi, perhaps being nice or wondering where they know me from. I find most men speak back and more women than me stare and don’t speak, rude I think. So I say don’t worry about those people who don’t seem friendly, you can only be yourself and strive to be your better self every day. We all get older and we can do our best to look the best we can and be the best we can be. I can always go home and rest if need be but unless I am sick I’m striving to be the best I can be.
Hi Linda, Thank you for your comments. I totally agree. It costs nothing does it? It is a shame that some do not answer you I agree that is rude. I am sorry you suffer from Fibromyalgia this can be very debilitating I know as a friend has it. Keep being you 😊
I do love color, however I'm fussy about the hues out in the market place. When an item is offered in more than one color they are primary colors or neutrals. So I tend to buy neutrals, and once in awhile I'll find a wonderful sap green or blue based red. I feel confident in black and white or stone and black. Love coats over simple tailored items plus I use scarves for a bit of style and color. You have the best advise. Thank you. Oh, I live in central California with hot summers, so linen is a must. 😂
Hi Susan, I have lots of family in California so totally understand. Yes unfortunately we are often only offered the colours that are 'in' which I think in itself is a silly concept. It sounds as if you have a great grasp of colour though. Thank you for the feedback it is much appreciated.
Yes please to content for us over 60, there are a lot of us! Of course, styling principles are really the same for every age, but we do have some unique challenges when we’re 50 and over. Mine is not being able to wear synthetic fibers since I developed allergies to plastics in my 40s, overheating, and extreme difficulty finding trousers that fit since my waist thickened, especially, but even before that - my figure is a rectangle. I love dress and skirt outfit content, too because that’s what I wear most days.
Yes it can be very tricky. It sounds as if you have a good hold on it though. I had family in Sacramento by the way. I have more family in California than anywhere else in the world.
I don’t want a capsule wardrobe, I want the big, beautiful wardrobe I already have! But, I enjoy your videos a lot and put in some work to promote your channel when it first started. Keep up the good work! A fan from San Francisco🙂
I'm a 61 year old Canadian living in Brittany, France. I'm at home looking after sheep, after bringing up my son, who is now back in Canada studying. I really enjoyed this video, because I see myself not putting myself forward like I used to when I was a law librarian working in the financial district of Toronto. You can see the difference in lifestyle, add to that some health problems, the fact that my accent when I speak fluent French is always commented on, and my head of thick white hair makes people ask if I am my husband's mother. It's all a bit unsettling, but I have pared down my wardrobe to include softer colours (I used to be a winter) as I've noticed my skin and eyes are paler. My health issues are with my eyes and my blood, which might be the cause of both. I just wanted to thank you for your videos - they really are a bright spark whenever I watch them, and I really learn a lot!
Hi Wendy, I am sorry you have health issues. Yes it is worth addressing the changes to embrace this next exciting stage for you. You are not far from me. I could almost wave over the English Channel haha! Keep goingI am glad you find it helpful.
Hello Michelle, new subscriber here. I'm from Massachusetts, USA. I'm newly retired and enjoy doing what I want when I want-so liberating! I enjoy your content and have learned so much about myself and my style. I took your advice and went on pinterest and created some style and color boards-so helpful! Thank You! Keep on keepin' on!
Hi Doris, Thank you for your kind comments. I am so pleased you find it helpful. Pinterest is a great platform to rediscover your style. Take your time with it and enjoy it.
Newly retired here as well! Love having time to actually focus on what I want to do! I’m trying to start to sew now and am finding this fairly challenging. Have used this to motivate myself with walking about 3 miles per day and doing strength training. Having the time is amazing. Colors with gray hair are confusing.
I'm 59 I stumbled across your TH-cam channel ❤❤ I had been following someone else on Instagram who says color, prints make us look older get rid of it😮 I love that you said to incorporate a pop of color Looking forward to watching more of your videos
Hello thank you for your comments. I have seen this too and I struggle to see why. My best advice to you is to question the expertise of the person giving the advice. There are lots of people out there giving advice as self-proclaimed experts with little or no experience. Always ask if you are not sure. I think both patterns and a pop of colour all work well. I am glad you have found it helpful.
Dear Stylist, I watch from Poland. I'm 62. I noticed my children started to consider me less inteligent. I mean I should listen to them, which is sometimes nice. My opinion count less now. With my closet I really try to do my best to look not yunger, but modern and nice. I use more colors like pink, bordo and white. My dear young friends always appreciate my outfits😊 Thank you for your incouraging suggestions ❤
Hi Magdalena, I think it is sad that you feel your opinion does not count anymore. I would suggest it will always count. I am glad you are enjoying your wardrobe and have found this helpful.
I’m 77 and live in Auckland New Zealand. Have been in corporate and now getting used to being out of paid work. I sometimes second guess what to wear now . Don’t intend spending my life in jeans and tops because I’m sort of more a home body. Understand the feeling of invisibility and working on that. Loved your video and look forward to more. Yours Mary
Hi Mary, I think it takes time to adjust so enjoy the process. IN addition, if you have not watched it already, try my Over 60's Capsule Wardrobe video too, you might find that helpful. 😊
I'm 71, 5ft and fed up of being invisible, especially when waiting to be served. I asked a little girl once if she could see me because the assistant blatantly ignored me to serve a man who had just walked into the shop. I am taking your advice and have moved out of the way for the last time. Next person in my way will have to wait. And yes. The little girl probably thought I was a crazy old lady 😂😂
Helpful. Just turned 60. Party tonight for same age childhood friend. No suitable party clothes. Bingo wings, heavy thighs and now a bulky midriff. YIKES! Will be tuning in more. Thank you for tips in this video. Now to find the right items on the Yorkshire high street… Thank you
@deborahjohnston267 Hi Deborah, I hope you enjoyed the party. It does take some time to adjust, but I honestly believe everyone can feel good again. It is a case of updating your wardrobe rather than changing it completely. Take a look at this video, too, as you might find it helpful. th-cam.com/video/XSM-aATWiOM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ooWWoGSuFMxWvWb_ . Do you ever shop online too?
Love your energy, practical and encouraging advice, and warmth. I'm 68, downsizing and upskilling. Need a minimalist wardrobe. "Less is more and bright is beautiful" is my desired direction. I'm really glad I found you❤️
Hi Michelle loving your practical good sense approach have you any advise for a 68 Yr old 4ft 11 women with large bust. Most petite advise assumes your petite in the horizontal as well as vertical. I'm from Dublin by the way. Keep up the good work. Sally
Hi Sally, I have Irish in my blood! Thank you for the feedback. So a couple of tips would be to wear lighter brighter colours on your botton half and darker on the top. Avoid high necks and go for V necks instead. I hope that helps.
I’m so glad I’ve found your channel. I am 73 and consider it’s a privilege to reach this age. I try to be positive, I have a few friends who are quite negative, I fight it, negativity is aging!! Love your outfit tips, thank you.
Hi Ruth thank you for the feedback it is much appreciated. I think it is always a choice, allbeit some have a harder starting point than others. I am glad you have found the outfit its helpful.
Just found your channel and loving it. It’s my birthday today, 72 and don’t feel it! What colour shall I wear today………. I’m in Leicester by the way. Xx
@LindaSilva-r3f Hi Linda, thank you for subscribing. I do not have anything specific to this no. I guess it largely deoneds on the climate you live in. I would take a look through a few of my videos though you might find them helpful 😊
Hello I am in Texas. I am 68 , a size 2-4 .. have a hard time finding clothes that fit right on me. That are stylish and do not cost an arm and a leg.. I have been told I look young for my age. However I have a hard time finding casual clothes. I am retired
Hi I'm a younger looking 67yr old and retired for a year. I no longer dye my hair and have embraced the steel colour. I love bright colours but have lost a bit of confidence in how to wear them and what trousers now suit me.
@LeeRobinson-i9c that’s amazing. Have you seen my embracing they grey video? You might find that helpful too th-cam.com/video/RgDpyjkEa_Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3e6xsB6G5Rqq0gxi
Hi x I really enjoy your videos xxx I could talk all day about my faults I'm 58 and after watching loads of style videos I'm more confused!,,,,,, I'm petite with large bust and stomach and some say no scarf and necklace and others say yes to both, can you help x thank you
Hi Kathleen, Thank you I am glad you are enjoying them. The first thing I would say is ask about the experience of the people giving you the advice. There are a lot of people giving advice on here and elsewhere with very little training or experience so ALWAYS question that first. So in answer to your question, it is hard for me to say without seeing you and doing a proper body analysis, however, generally given what you have told me I would say both would be good if they are long. That way they draw the eye down your body.
From germany. I am 60 and find it Hard to dress because the style s i liked when i Was young Don t suit me anymore. Also because of weight gain. Thank you for your video
Hi Karin, This is very common. Try to open a Pinterest board and pin styles you like. It might help you rediscover what you like. IN addition learn which styles work for your body type now as this can help you feel better and more confident about the changes. If you want to book in for a consultation with me we can chat about how I might be able to help you. calendly.com/capsuleclosetstylist/free-consultation
I love ❤ fall colours, but I have a very small budget! Please ... 🙏 ... could anyone PLEASE HELP because I am 67 years old, at a 14-16 size and I had 4 strokes with now l right arm and leg diminished movement. What can I wear? I need elastic to help to pull-up clothes! What can I daily wear as fashionable was shopping, at a park, at home or in a restaurant to build another wardrobe??? 🤔🤔🤔 ANY OPINION PLEASE??? 😢❤😢
@LindaKreutzer-v2d Have you looked at Halara for pull up jeans? They are very soft and easy to wear but look like jeans. thehalara.co.uk/ if you like anything use code STYLIST20 for 20% off. I hope that helps.
I am a 67 year old woman. The hardest thing for me is to find cute shoes that I can use with shoe inserts. I cannot wear high heels or sandals because my feet get too sore. Any thoughts?
@rebeccaweiss6223 have you ever come across these empressaustralia.com/products/the-square-toe-flat?variant=42370555412735 They have inserts with them which I can vouch are very comfortable. If you like them you can use CAPSULECLOSET10 for 10% off.
I'm 64 soon to be 65 still working 40 hrs a week. I just want to look out together maybe classic I'm not into fads. love colors but not the primary colours that flood the market. I wear a black uniform to work so tired of black.

Also in Massachusetts!
Newly retired here as well! Love having time to actually focus on what I want to do! I’m trying to start to sew now and am finding this fairly challenging. Have used this to motivate myself with walking about 3 miles per day and doing strength training. Having the time is amazing. Colors with gray hair are confusing.
I'm 59 I stumbled across your TH-cam channel ❤❤
I had been following someone else on Instagram who says color, prints make us look older get rid of it😮
I love that you said to incorporate a pop of color
Looking forward to watching more of your videos
Hello thank you for your comments. I have seen this too and I struggle to see why. My best advice to you is to question the expertise of the person giving the advice. There are lots of people out there giving advice as self-proclaimed experts with little or no experience. Always ask if you are not sure. I think both patterns and a pop of colour all work well. I am glad you have found it helpful.
I absolutely loved this video and your content in general. Thank you! 🙏
Hi Wilma, you are very welcome I am glad you enjoyed it.
My dear young friends always appreciate my outfits😊
Thank you for your incouraging suggestions ❤
Hi Magdalena, I think it is sad that you feel your opinion does not count anymore. I would suggest it will always count. I am glad you are enjoying your wardrobe and have found this helpful.
I’m 77 and live in Auckland New Zealand. Have been in corporate and now getting used to being out of paid work. I sometimes second guess what to wear now . Don’t intend spending my life in jeans and tops because I’m sort of more a home body. Understand the feeling of invisibility and working on that. Loved your video and look forward to more.
Yours
Mary
Hi Mary, I think it takes time to adjust so enjoy the process. IN addition, if you have not watched it already, try my Over 60's Capsule Wardrobe video too, you might find that helpful. 😊
@@capsuleclosetstylist thank you 😊
you are welcome
Super sensible and straightforward advice for those of us coming to terms with our post menopausal bodies and mindsets. Thnx a bunch =)
You are very welcome I am glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for our consultation! I can’t wait to have your help with my new me style!
You are so welcome! It was lovely to meet you.
Thank you great video, recently retired and con templating donating 75% of my wardrobe for something more relaxing, playful and stylish
@louisehenry45 Hi Louise, I think you should go for it. Try the Pinterest idea too for a bit of inspiration.
Doesn't matter what anyone thinks take back that space. You do not have to be rude or push in but just take what is rightfully yours.
This is constant, isn’t it? I always say “excuse me, I’m next!” If they don’t like it, I don’t care!🙂
Good!
Thanks Michelle. I am getting a lot from your talks. New Zealand
Hi Lyn, Thank you for the feedback I am glad you found it helpful.
So good! Thank you!
You are very welcome I am glad you found it helpful.
I am proud to be over 60 and just want to look more put together even with casual clothes
@lyndabruce6077 And so you should. I am so pleased you are proud, this is music to my ears. I hope to help more women feel like you do.
I'm really glad I found you❤️
@susiecolwell9836 Ah thank you for your kind feedback I appreciate it. I totally agree, less really is more.
Hi. I am from South Africa. Love your video's.
Ah amazing! Thank you I am glad you are enjoying them.
Xx
@angelajackson6801 Ah happy birthday!!🎂🍰🍰🧁🎂🍰🧁🎂🍰🍰🎂 I think you should wear all your bright and happy colours today!
Hi, I’m a new subscriber
So if I’ve missed it please forgive- I live on the US west coast. Do you have anything for coastal grandmas?
@LindaSilva-r3f Hi Linda, thank you for subscribing. I do not have anything specific to this no. I guess it largely deoneds on the climate you live in. I would take a look through a few of my videos though you might find them helpful 😊
Hello I am in Texas. I am 68 , a size 2-4 .. have a hard time finding clothes that fit right on me. That are stylish and do not cost an arm and a leg.. I have been told I look young for my age. However I have a hard time finding casual clothes. I am retired
@830lgs Have you tried creating a pinterest board for inspiration? Oris it a case of you know what you like but can not find it?
I want to look stylish, professional looking at work, proper and adequate for my age. I’m 60 but still slim and love my gray/white hair.
Hello thank you for your comments. Have you watched my video regarding grey hair and colour?
Hi
I'm a younger looking 67yr old and retired for a year.
@@capsuleclosetstylist thank you xxx only would long then bring attention to my bust ,!, but I'll will try xx
Not usually if it is a thin long line down your body. Also wear brighter lighter patterns on your bottom half to draw attention there.
We don’t have faults, we just have some features we love more than others🙂
Brilliant way of looking at it
I want to look healthy feel good confident not necessarily younger.
That sounds like the perfect perspective to me.

I am more into natural fibers not a polyester or nylon fan at all.
@vjw1838 I think if you love colour you should embrace it and I am glad that you are 😊
@vjw1838 Yeslots of people re turning their back on manmade fibres now.
talks too much
@godfreygroup Thank you fr your feedback

@maryaspey1841 I am sorry you do not find them helpful. I hope you find the help you need elsewhere.
