Groundhog Day is the superior time loop movie entirely due to the psychological damage it caused Bill Murray
now for an actual tip to shave several attempts: the bench in front of the quest giver is the only one that is smart to use. BEFORE grabbing the flower, pick a route based off what you have available, then do a DRY RUN clearing all enemies along the way. If you never bench or close the game during setup, they never respawn. Now dream gate back if you have it or walk back if you dont, start the quest, and follow the rigid path you already cleared, hoping and praying not to trip on a spike along the way. Dream gate, walk, death or reset warp back to grey mourner for what is arguably the hardest mask shard in the game. If you still have king's soul, this is the only time it helps which does not require you to "evolve" the charm first. Spells are your friend while you carry the flower, and i cant emphasize that enough.
There is actually one more instance of kingsoul being useful (though it may have been removed) if you are struggling with the enraged crystal guardian you can flat out just stay outside of its arena and fire off spells at it until it dies.
@@sythrus I am assuming it was patched, as i think i tried firing a spell from out of range in my first playthrough that was on the switch (so was a build past 1.0) but i cannot say for certain.
Also to consider is the high cost to use the charm, so something like cheesing a boss fight ends up being one of the most niche uses it has. At least for the flower quest, there is a bit more exploration involved which makes its use active instead of passive. Cheese the boss is a matter of blasting spells then waiting for it to recharge before firing again. Escorting the flower means you are most likely trying to actively travel towards your destination as it recharges, even more so because nothing you fight along the way takes up an entire maxed soul capacity.
I personally do the quest while the crossroads are infected and go with deep focus, grubsong and grubberfly's elegy set up a dream gate at grey mouner this way i never need to bench so most enemies don't respawn then go to queen's garden through crossroad's->fungal wastes(briefly)->fog canyon(acid entrance in the fungal wastes)->Queen's garden proper and dreamgate back to grey mouner if i get hit. Using this strategy the most dangerous thing are uomas and spikes.

Sensing a story building here. It seems the Knight is being controlled by windette, but right before the end before the reset, it seems Windette rage quits giving the Knight some time to themselves, during which they IMMEDIATELY go for the true ending without Windette’s input. This is looking very, very interesting.

@@benma1116 last bit of the video in Queen’s gardens. When windette doesn’t reset, the knight takes control and heads directly towards traitor lord- there’s nothing else in that direction.
I like how Isma's tear would made this a lot easier, but he showed us his SpEeDrUnNiNg TrIcKs instead.

This made me so happy to see. Him showing how good he is by doing the TWO masks shards (Crossroad+Queen Station) hitless, but then making the same lvl 1 Knight mistake and hitting the thorns at the Grave. I empathized with it so hard, and I hope you have a terrible day
Yet again, I am absolutely floored by the fact that I see another Delicate Flower attempt that doesn’t just... Clear out the enemies beforehand. Like, go through the desired route first without the flower, and then go to Grey Mourner. The larger, more problematic enemies won’t respawn until you sit on a bench, and that takes care of ALL the explodey bois, all the mantises, and the rest that stays behind is barely an inconvenience. And for the love of Radiance, the easiest way is through the crossroads, then Fog Canyon. And who would even attempt it without Isma’s Tear? That’s just unnecessary risk.
A risk that I definitely did not take whenever my friend forced my to do delicate flower over share play, something with lots of input lag because of my awful internet. So I took every advantage possible to make that take as few tries as possible

I think some enemies respawn when entering a new map zone too though, (crystal caves/village/station, etc. Dont remember the names lol) so it only works for the immediate areas connected to the white Lady. The fungal wastes will respawn, as they're a new 'area' from my experience, if i'm not mistaken...
But its been a while (like several months since i've last played) so idk
@@Skillfullfilms89 from the path I did, which was going through city to fungal and then to queen's whenever I dreamgate after killing every enemy the only enemys that respawn after leaving the room were the little grass fly things near the room you put the flower in and the vengeflys in city of tears, neither of which are much of a threat unless you are a moron as windette so kindly puts it.
When i did the flower quest i had basically everything, but it did take MANY attempts, the plataforming at the end i had already trained for and i did it 1st try(with the flower, just the plataforming, i have a benching problem)

Actually bought the game after 2 goddamned years, discounted on Steam, rage quited on Watcher Knights, got heavily shitted on by Failed Champion, and realised you're not supposed to fight Watcher Knight with only 1 nail upgrade and less than half of the charms pre-Monarch pre-Shade dash. On your very first fucking playthrough.
Oh and I'm submitting myself to the torture that is all bindings Pantheons right after my first Sealed Siblings and Dream no More endings(yes, no Hollow Knight ending), so seeing that I'm blending into this kinky-ass masochistic community o' so smoothly, this video is just right up my alley.
Boy, if only I could substitute alley with ass.

@@swlchl FC is just a boss that you know has a pattern, yet still makes you panic. That being said, he's actually easy, still doesn't make me struggle any less or panic any less, wondering what he's gonna do next.

@@swlchl Ay, no shame in using cheese strats against WK. Game literally offers you a Chandelier to Tiso one of them. I didn't even know Flukeswarm and Chandelier were options so I just brute-forced WK 34 times, iirc XD
My personally favored route is through the city of tears and then the lower entrance to Queen's Gardens (the one next to the Deepnest pitfall).
Oh and also, don't sit on benches while doing this. Instead, place a dream gate at the grey mourner, clear out the path, take the dream gate back to her and then carry the flower through the cleared path because most enemies won't respawn if you just don't rest.

I remember when I finally managed to beat flower quest I was complaining all the way that I better get something epic, and then yelling WTF when I get back to the mourner and get a mask shard. So not worth the hours of anguish.
The editing feels sooooo good, well done man!
To be honest it looks inspired by Jaden's platinum nuzzlocke with the whole glitching because of the alternative reality of when she lost the run. If it was inspired by that, you did a really good job by using it in this great way. If not, well I guess that great minds do think the same.
The "glitching" is in no way a new concept. Jaden may have been your first exposure, but many have done it before, and many yet to come will also use it. Removing all the visual effect elements and you have every time travel/time loop story, plus a few others like the truman show who achieve a similar feel even if not an inherent time loop. Add some effects and you reach the glitch trope used.

Is it possible to do this quest without the infection? What if I have isma's tear, could that one route work? No Monarch Wings? Or do I need a special item for this?
you do not need a special item, and yes this is doable both without the infection and with isma's
For the sake of making it way easier I say get isma’s tear and possibly dreamgate.
@@slowloris3108 You can't carry the flower through dreamgate, and you can "warp" back to Grey Mourner by just quitting and reloading (assuming you benched at her place and didn't bench afterward.)

If you're having problems, start from the destination, kill all the enemies on your way to the flower, pick it up and then do the whole thing normally without any enemies on your way there.
Ok the resets are creepy, but the most disturbing part for me is Windette gradually straying from the quest every time to look for items, like he's supposed to be commentating another video.
Easter Egg tip: If you want to give the Delicate Flower to Oro, do it before completing the quest, as the flower to him after is much longer. The route for Elderbug doesn't really matter as the difficulty stays the same, though the route from Queen's garden is technically shorter.

I did the quest on my second try. The trick is to know your path in advance, kill all the enemies on the way, dreamgate back to the grey mourner, and then take you path back free of enemies. Just... watch yourself on the final room.
this was genuinely SO WELL MADE
it was a roller coaster and so so fun to watch
the voice acting was spot on, I loved the effects, and the pacing was spectacular

I was gunna watch this and the go do other things... 30 seconds in, and the editing is good enough that I knew I had to dedicate my full attention to this. No regrets.

Just did the flower quest for the first time yesterday. So perfect timing! The pain is still real. Tried to go through fog canyon with a glowing womb charm. While holding the flower. For at least 5 attempts. Yes, I am an idiot and do belong here as a subscriber.

Alternetively you can kill off all the big mobs in the Path before getting the flower to make It easier. Just dont sit on any bench or they Will reset

The format of this video was really refreshing and clever! Granted, it didnt take long to piece together what was happening, but I really appreciated having to figure it out for myself and it was a clever meta narrative that made it stand out as more than just your standard level navigation guide! Well done!
I love how you can turn into a big blob of void casting an incredibly large spell with large amounts of power and yeet yourself onto the ground at many miles per hour without the flower breaking but if larry so much as taps you the tiniest bit it's game over.

Man i deleted hollow knight after i finished EVERYTHING in it(apart from all 4 bindings at the same time for all pantheons), but i still love your channel.
Coming back to watch this video after learning a little about editing just consistently amazes me. Like, no joke. The edits are perfect, and all the effort Windy puts in clearly shows. This is definitely my favorite Explained in Insults to date 💙
Man, I was expecting the usual, but then I see how he changed it up, and I was amazed by the creativity and effort put into this video. This was 100% worth the wait, and I hope I can see more amazing content like this in the future.
I killed everything on the route I wanted to take without benching so nothing would respawn. Took the flower and went down said route with no enemy's. You can't do much about the environmental damage though.
I think I just got really lucky on my try at this quest. Took me 3 at most, all I did was clear the path I wanted to take and dream gated back :)

Really really good video there, and well, it’s an actual guide, it really shows how one can get frustrated by the quest and how much it can impact their play making them so dumb mistakes, kinda wished you would have talk about more possible routes like the city route, but well the video has to release at some point

When I do flower quest I set down a dream gate, clear the path, use the dream gate, don't sit on the bench, get the flower to the last room, do the two first jumps, drop down and dash into the spikes. Then I dream gate again.
At this point, I don't even come for the insults, because your videos and editting are so good that I end up invested. Absolutely phenomenal storytelling on this one, worth the 3 consecutive watches analyzing what this could mean for the windette lore.

Here's my Strategy for this quest.
1. Place a Dream Gate at The Grey Mourner Place.
2. Do One Run and Kill Enemies. Don't Worry About getting hit.
3. Go Back to Grey Mourner via Dream Gate with a ruined flower and ask for another one.
4. With the Enemies killed (Minus the ones that come back regardless) The Quest Becomes easier.
My Route I believe is
Resting Grounds to Forgotten/Infected Crossroads to Fungal Wastes to Fog Canyon to Queen's Garden.
Also in your Run with the Dead Enemies, DON'T sit on a bench because The Enemies will respond.
