The African Union has been tweaked a lot in recent patches, so clearly it's on the dev's minds. Maybe another patch is around the corner and it'll be one hundred percent perfect then. Probably not, or maybe they'll just nerf something. That would be a curveball.
Playing a minor nation in the new patch is kinda ass, while Britain should have been made harder to invade, being a minor makes it borderline impossible to cap allies before USA joins
Naval invasion is very hard to pull off now, but you can pivot your industry to air after establishing dominance in europe and paradrop into england before USA joins
@@bartuomyej landing there isn't even the worst, right now u cant do shit before UK dosent kill 800k od their own men. U are pined for at least 3 months
I've only managed it a couple times as a minor and it's definitely really hard now. Bright side I do feel like it has forced me to get a little better with my micro and templates.
historically, there have been kings in europe that young, 10 might be pushing it as those ones did not actually rule anything until they grew up a bit more, but by 1939 18 y.o. isn't nearly so unlikely, esp for a communist uprising scenario
Like the reasource problem is I think mostly becuase Paradox intended for you to go down partially the Belgian Congo path to get some reasources and factories, and later turn to revolution. But there is a large problem with that, being that the focuses are just too long. I think congo would use a lot from making few more focuses 35 days.
Granted I've already said that Hearts of Iron IV is lacking Non-State Actors which could be useful for getting around the truces since you would be launching Proxy wars whereby you would aid African countries in their local struggle for liberation and while its a bit more Cold War themed than WW2 themed these are alt-history paths, albeit you would need to dedicate factories and perhaps manpower (if you go down certain escalation decisions for committing boots on the ground) to the production and supply of military aid to the rebels, with costs growing the further the Proxy War is from your core territory (albeit with some exceptions such as the African Union treating all of Africa as core territory). Although I wonder expanding on this idea of proxy wars, whether the Comintern path could allow you to perform proxy wars with distance cost modifiers being based on yours and or Comintern Member core territory but with the Soviets being able to get them as a puppet if they help more than you do.
IIRC, the patch notes said they made the same changes to the African Union tree for Ethiopia as well. That's great, but at the same time, I wish they'd find a way to revert back some of the buffs they gave Italy. It's pretty much impossible to beat Italy as Ethiopia now, which is... not fun.
I honestly wish they removed border conflicts from the game or reworked them to work like operations where you choice the divisions that get used both for the attacker and the defender
A cool rework for border conflicts would be where it works like an actual war (provinces get captured, you can micro, etc), but only within the state that is being fought over. Also you should get to pick the offensive troops, and when you it starts the enemy can move in defensive troops to the region for them to join the conflict
@@bighillraft yeah i totally agree, and for congo give them decisions to start them, but add some sort of escalation mechanic that adds a possibility for it to turn into a normal war if say more than 2 border conflicts are started within half a year with the same nation. its only a possibity so you could risk it and also the counter is different for every nation, no matter if its a puppet (like south africa and uk are treated as diffirent nation, rather than the whole allies being called in)
@@penguinlord-yt9xc yeah I guess they would need to renamed though, since they wouldnt really be on the border anymore, maybe "limited war" or "skirmish" or something
Yeah improvements are nice but it is weird they insist about regular 300pp annexation style instead of an integration. Also what do you think about this new UK thing? I think it just kills all the fun as Axis minor and it needs a rebalance. Will you make something a video about this?

Well, I mean sure, but UK should never have been easy to cap in the first place
@@poyloos4834 yes yes we know it but making it harder just for to be sure Germany player will have a challenge is not a fair game design choise

This African Union Is so demanding and broken... I wish It were better

Remember when hoi4 was a realistic ww2 game where even the alt history was based in real Life event's and things that were possible
Never been the case tho

Is the game laggy?
Whenever they added more stuff to do in game it usually lags the AI
It would be much better if they used the border conflict system imo

is it actually worth it to start the game with the indepence war instead of doing some of the joint tree first?

Can you try speedruning the Italian Invasion of Ethiopia?
Lil bro, Pol Pot is leader of Cambodia. He is 8 years old at the start of the game
Well i mean in this case the democratic in the name is actually true since the congo has elections
This is good, but i wish they also add Congo as a playable nation without Gotterdammerung with nonaligned ideology.
