Fun fact! The school in this movie, for whatever reason, was used as the model for the first Silent Hill game on ps1. From the shape of it, to the posters on the walls. Seriously. This school is the school in Silent Hill, and that is awesome.

They were paid $35 a day. The filmmakers auditioned more than 2,000 children for the 30 kids in Kimble's class. • Ivan Reitman invented the five "Reitman Rules of Filmmaking" for the kids: Listen, act natural, know your character, don't look in the camera, and be disciplined. • Jason Reitman: the boy making out with the girl that Kimble interrupts during the real fire drill. • During an off day from filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger flew to Los Angeles to film the teaser trailer for Terminator 2: Judgment Day. •Bill Murray and Patrick Swayze were originally offered the role of John Kimble.
Last Action Hero is my favorite Arnold and also my favorite quote "You want to be a farmer? Here's a couple of acres." "Put that cookie down." is probably my number 2.

I already know that I'm going to love this reaction! This is one of my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger films, along with the first two "Terminator" movies. I VERY HIGHLY recommend for Coy and Aaron the 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny DeVito comedy "Twins". Not a 90s comedy, but it's pretty close to the 90s and it's Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy. 😊

Linda Hunt was so funny in this movie. She was Henrietta "Hetty" Lang on NCIS: Los Angeles, that's why she looks familiar to you guys. Also, she was just as sassy on the show as she was in the movie. My favorite moment was when DiNozzo from NCIS appeared on an episode and slapped him upside the head like Gibbs does! It's on TH-cam that scene!

I learned in reading about the behind the scene of afterlife that he often was on set during Ivan's films. it was how he met and became close friends with Harold Ramis' daughter, which in turn is what lead to Afterlife becoming what it is.
In the scene in Kindergarten Cop where Arnold Schwarzenegger asks the children "Who is your daddy and what does he do?", many of the young actors were not given lines and instead are actually telling Arnold about their real father's.
Fun Facts: The role of Dominic was played by identical twins Joseph & Christopher Cousins. Richard Tyson, Cullen Crisp, played psychopath high school bully, Buddy Revell in Three O'clock High.
The Pacifier is a good comp for this movie and so is Tooth Fairy. The Rock also had The Game Plan, which is probably closer than the Tooth Fairy to mirroring this.
You actually can get the twofer if you visit Astoria. In 2017 my gf and I were not only able to walk around the school where they filmed Kindergarten Cop but also the beach where they filmed The Goonies at Cannon Beach with the distinctive rock structure. The only thing we couldn’t do was tour Mikey and Brandon’s house. It was in a closed off street not open to the public because of too many trespassers over the years.
So many great films from childhood were filmed in Astoria, Oregon. Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, Short Circuit are the three I can remember off the top of my head, and if you go to Astoria you can see all the locations. The best film to hunt down the locations is goonies,; the jail, the house, and the best is the fact that the big rock they ride their bikes to in order to see it through the dabloon is so far south from Astoria, Haystack Rock, that it's rediclous that they took a bikeride to it on a whymn.

This movie is proof Arnold can act. The way he starts as the typical 90's tough guy and actually had moments of genuine gentleness and just human moments. Especially for action movie guys like he was stereotyped as.
My mom grew up not far from there and used to tell me about the places seen in these movies because she had friends there. I've always wanted to visit.
@galmorzu You definitely should. I do preface it with the fact there's a bad meth problem in that region of the state. But the regular people are fun. Plus, you'll find out how unrealistic riding a bike from Astoria to Cannon Beach. Only bad thing in the Goonies lol
I miss malls, too. The mall close to me used to have an arcade *and* a pet shop. Any time my parents had to go to the mall (usually Sears and JC Penny runs), I always went to the pet shop to look at the animals (usually cats, birds, and small dogs), then played games right next door. I was so sad when the pet shop closed.
My twins were in preschool when this movie came out. My daughter's teacher was a 35-40 year old woman who was also a mom. My son's teacher was a single, male, graduate student, who was very fit. I remember all the mom's showing up at drop off fully dressed in makeup, instead of in their usual sweats or even still wearing pajamas.
One of my favorite 90’s films and Arnold’s films periods. It has so much heart, and Arnold really is a great comedic actor. I literally cried when I went to Oregon and got to see the school it was shot in.
I sang with the choir at church yesterday and the auxiliary bishop said mass. He sounds just like Arnold even though Rev. Andrzej Zglejszewski is from Poland. He is a wonderful speaker and keeps the people’s attention.
It wasn't until seeing the reuniuon call, that I learned that Dominic was actually played by twins...and thats why the identical twin girls ended up in the movie, because Reitman wasn't sure until very late, wether the main kid was going to a boy or girl. They were actively casting for twins because of the screen time invilved and child labour laws. But even though they decided on boys, Reitman still wanted to give the girls a part in the movie....also, there were multiple Ferrets...

I still remember when this movie first came out, there was all this controversey about whether it was a family-friendly movie and if kids could watch it because it started out as an action movie. I had such a crush on Penelope Ann Miller growing up & this movie solidified it more. She was in the very underrated monster thriller, "The Relic". Have you ever seen Twins, another unforgettable Schwarzenegger comedy? The Last Action Hero also highlights Schwarzeneger's propensity toward comedy mixed with action. If you want to go for another old-school action movie that would also honor Carl Weathers at the same time, go see Action Jackson.
The is the best reaction to an absolute classic! As a straight, male Kindergarten teacher of 21 years I was very influenced by this movie. I can tell you the scene when Arnold falls, face first on to the bed at the end of the day is very real to me! Though... We had a pet Guinea Pig instead of a Ferret. Turning the light off works well for when the class is getting too wild. Insted of a whistle we used a round, wooden Xylophone. The childrens one liners brings back so many funny memories. Having said this, the parents/staff first impression of me, though mostly positive wasn't always. I came to realise and understand 'respect is earned not owed'. Made the decision to leave a couple of years ago. Miss it immensely..

I've always loved this movie. At the time, the way they sold this movie was with a movie star. All they had to say in a trailer was "Arnold Schwarzenegger is a cop, and now he has to go undercover as a kindergarten teacher." and it was game over. You guys named the Rock and Vin's movies, but there's plenty more like 'em. Mr. Nanny(1993) is Hulk Hogan (playing a former wrestler) who gets hired to bodyguard/nanny some kids. He also did Suburban Commando where he plays an intergalactic bandit or something, and ends up on earth to repair his ship, meets a family, gets protective when his enemies arrive. Mr. Mom(1983) is pretty similar, but without the action. Michael Keaton becomes the stay at home dad after losing his job, so mom goes back to work; hijinks ensue. Are We There Yet(2005) with Ice Cube, taking a couple kids(not his) across the country. Heck, I'd put Big Daddy with Adam Sandler in the same category. And this is all *without* naming movies that could be more easily categorized as sports movies, but are about an adult and a bunch of kids change eachothers lives. Bad News Bears(both the original and the Billy Bob remake). Hardball with Keanu Reeves coaching a baseball team. Kicking and Screaming with Will Ferrel coaching a soccer team. Mighty Ducks with EMELIOOO! The Big Green with Steve Guttenberg. I love these kinds of movies.

Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, Short Circuit are the three I can remember off the top of my head, and if you go to Astoria you can see all the locations. The best film to hunt down the locations is goonies,; the jail, the house, and the best is the fact that the big rock they ride their bikes to in order to see it through the dabloon is so far south from Astoria, Haystack Rock, that it's rediclous that they took a bikeride to it on a whymn.

This movie is proof Arnold can act. The way he starts as the typical 90's tough guy and actually had moments of genuine gentleness and just human moments.
Especially for action movie guys like he was stereotyped as.

@galmorzu You definitely should. I do preface it with the fact there's a bad meth problem in that region of the state. But the regular people are fun. Plus, you'll find out how unrealistic riding a bike from Astoria to Cannon Beach. Only bad thing in the Goonies lol

I miss malls, too. The mall close to me used to have an arcade *and* a pet shop. Any time my parents had to go to the mall (usually Sears and JC Penny runs), I always went to the pet shop to look at the animals (usually cats, birds, and small dogs), then played games right next door.
I was so sad when the pet shop closed.
My twins were in preschool when this movie came out. My daughter's teacher was a 35-40 year old woman who was also a mom. My son's teacher was a single, male, graduate student, who was very fit. I remember all the mom's showing up at drop off fully dressed in makeup, instead of in their usual sweats or even still wearing pajamas.
Cop and a Half 1993 movie with Burt Reynolds comes to mind.
About 20 years ago there was an online Arnold soundboard that was all the rage. This movie provided a significant portion of the sound for it.
"It's not a TUMOR" was a classic line from this movie. JUNIOR, TWINS and TRUE LIES are also good comedies from Arnold!
One of my favorite 90’s films and Arnold’s films periods. It has so much heart, and Arnold really is a great comedic actor.

I sang with the choir at church yesterday and the auxiliary bishop said mass. He sounds just like Arnold even though Rev. Andrzej Zglejszewski is from Poland. He is a wonderful speaker and keeps the people’s attention.

It wasn't until seeing the reuniuon call, that I learned that Dominic was actually played by twins...and thats why the identical twin girls ended up in the movie, because Reitman wasn't sure until very late, wether the main kid was going to a boy or girl. They were actively casting for twins because of the screen time invilved and child labour laws. But even though they decided on boys, Reitman still wanted to give the girls a part in the movie....also, there were multiple Ferrets...

I still remember when this movie first came out, there was all this controversey about whether it was a family-friendly movie and if kids could watch it because it started out as an action movie. I had such a crush on Penelope Ann Miller growing up & this movie solidified it more. She was in the very underrated monster thriller, "The Relic". Have you ever seen Twins, another unforgettable Schwarzenegger comedy? The Last Action Hero also highlights Schwarzeneger's propensity toward comedy mixed with action. If you want to go for another old-school action movie that would also honor Carl Weathers at the same time, go see Action Jackson.
They based parts of the school in silent hill on the school in this movie which is cool. I have a fondness for this movie, junior and twins.
I love this movie so much. The first 15 minutes of this film is some of the best badass Arnold character building ever.

The is the best reaction to an absolute classic! As a straight, male Kindergarten teacher of 21 years I was very influenced by this movie. I can tell you the scene when Arnold falls, face first on to the bed at the end of the day is very real to me!
Though... We had a pet Guinea Pig instead of a Ferret. Turning the light off works well for when the class is getting too wild. Insted of a whistle we used a round, wooden Xylophone. The childrens one liners brings back so many funny memories. Having said this, the parents/staff first impression of me, though mostly positive wasn't always. I came to realise and understand 'respect is earned not owed'.
Made the decision to leave a couple of years ago. Miss it immensely..
apparently some of the kids (if not almost all) said what their dads actually do so it's more natural!

The Rundown is the movie with the Rock & Arnold passing of the torch. Rundown & Walking Tall are both fun action movies.
I've always loved this movie. At the time, the way they sold this movie was with a movie star. All they had to say in a trailer was "Arnold Schwarzenegger is a cop, and now he has to go undercover as a kindergarten teacher." and it was game over.

Mr. Nanny(1993) is Hulk Hogan (playing a former wrestler) who gets hired to bodyguard/nanny some kids. He also did Suburban Commando where he plays an intergalactic bandit or something, and ends up on earth to repair his ship, meets a family, gets protective when his enemies arrive.
Mr. Mom(1983) is pretty similar, but without the action. Michael Keaton becomes the stay at home dad after losing his job, so mom goes back to work; hijinks ensue.
Are We There Yet(2005) with Ice Cube, taking a couple kids(not his) across the country.
Heck, I'd put Big Daddy with Adam Sandler in the same category.
And this is all *without* naming movies that could be more easily categorized as sports movies, but are about an adult and a bunch of kids change eachothers lives. Bad News Bears(both the original and the Billy Bob remake). Hardball with Keanu Reeves coaching a baseball team. Kicking and Screaming with Will Ferrel coaching a soccer team. Mighty Ducks with EMELIOOO! The Big Green with Steve Guttenberg.
