This one is the only one where they give Rambo a few comedic lines.
"Last time he fought for his country, this time, he's fighting to save a friend.," Original tagline to the movie.
This was thought to have been the final chapter in the Rambo series, until RAMBO was released in 2008, directed by and starring Stallone.
My favourite of the Rambo series. The first is the best, but my heart stays with Rambo III.
Can't wait for part 4. Rambo keeps getting bigger and bigger every movie.... Wait till you see Stallone in the next one. BEAST!!!
17:36 that part where he uses gunpowder to cauterize his wound like that, seeing the flame shoot out both holes in his body was such an iconic scene to me. That has stayed burned in my memory ever since I saw this as a kid. I've never seen anything like that in a movie before or since!
Movies from the 80s were just built different, man.
I read that this was one of the, if not *the* most expensive film of all time when it came out.
If you ever get impaled, break it off. Dont pull it out till you are in a position to stop the bleeding. Remember that.
When he walked away at the end of part 2, he went straight to Thailand and did find peace.
John Rambo would be considered an action hero from then on in the culture.
Afterwards, there was an animated series called Rambo:The Force of Freedom (1986), it ran for 65 episodes and was like G.I. Joe, but silghtly more edgy.
Merchandise existed and i had slippers instead of toys (damn).
Part 3 was just as timely.
Soviets invading Afghanistan during the cold war.
Stallone scripted Rambo into the fight alongside the Rebels (pre-Taliban) and that was controversial.
Good action, decent drama and an relatable message of standing against tyranny anywhere.
A video game tie-in was in the arcades, computer systems and both 8-bit and 16-bit Sega systems.
For the moment, this was the last chapter ever and I guarantee your going to love parts 4 & 5.
Yep. I'm not super well versed in the history, but weren't the rebels Rambo was fighting alongside the Mujahadeen? Basically the people that eventually became the Taliban and some splintered into Al-Queda?
So basically, along with the US when we helped them, Rambo fought alongside the very people we now call terrorists and that the US hates more than just about anybody.
History is a strange thing, sometimes.

Yeah, not only that, but the scene in which featured Rambo loading the Bow and Arrow became one of the reasons when he made it into MK11 Ultimate.
The book for this movie was SO good. It was descriptive about the crossbow Rambo used, the customs and "games" of the natives. It was great.
"Helicopter and a tank playing chicken"... loved to have been at that post production meeting! lol
I think Rambo 3 has the best action scenes of the series. And Stallone was probably in his best shape physically in this movie.
I love the whole series. Two things. One, Sylvester Stallone wrote all 5, so that could be why you love the writing.😂 And two, there was NO CGI in Rambo (2008) or Last Blood. To quote Sly about the 4th one, "The snake is a snake, the bomb's a bomb." And I highly recommend checking out "Rambo: To Hell and Back" which is a documentary on how the 4th one was made, and directed by Sylvester Stallone. Can't wait!
Totally Badass epic classic Movie.The 1st as far as story and overal movies go was the Best but the 2nd was iconic and Epic and the 3rd was the biggest and most action packed.

I will say this, first movie is a masterpiece as it talks about the treatment of veterans, ptsd (before it was really even talked about it) and it's more of a drama than a straight action film... and as such none of the sequels compare. But....
But as action movies, they're pretty good!
This is the one people don't seem to talk about as much. Another fantastic Rambo movie. Every movie has something to say.
You said every film has at least one brutal death wait till Rambo (2008) there's a lot I won't spoil but it's crazy.

If you sympathized with Yuri and like the action in this movie, you really need to check out 'The Beast' with Jason Patrick. The story of a group of Russians in Afghanistan caught behind enemy lines.

One of my sisters has a boyfriend from Afghanistan, and he told me that Rambo is actually really popular over there.😎
The timing of watching this movie also made it especially significant to me because it was just after that recent Afghanistan fiasco.😟
(Rambo 4 was filmed in 2008 so it's probably going to be mostly CGI) LMAO The meme. (Should we tell him? No No ) Can't wait for your reaction of that movie. Lol

This film cost about $60 million which, in 1988, was ridiculously expensive. Unfortunately the Russian invasion of Afghanistan was over before it hit the screens, which can't have helped. It was widely considered a flop (even though it made about 3 times its budget internationally).
Actually the fourth film looks more realistic than the second and third film - influenced by the hyper-realism of films like Saving Private Ryan. Tonally I'd day it's very different from Rambo II and III, I mean it opens with real shots of real dead bodies. Pulls no punches. Not the type of film I could eat popcorn while watching without vomiting, let's put it that way.
You need to watch some Jean Claude Van Dam movies next followed by some Chuck Norris' ones. I recommend The Delta Force. And then Jet Li too. And THEN you'll be ready to perhaps watch the Expendable Movies. Throw in some Antonio Banderas in too for good measure.
Code of Silence is also a good Chuck Norris film.
You should watch the Missing in Action series starring Chuck Norris.
This one is more fun but it still has a message. But do you have a hell of a movie coming up in the next . You will absolutely be blown away by Rambo but Rambo III it's good enough for a third movie.
At the end of the regular movie they give props to the freedom fighters who became Osama and the Taliban lol
This entry is hurt a lot by how badly it aged politically. Still, it’s a good action movie and at least it’s better than the fifth movie.
