I'm unsure how effective the AV change really is. He's now flat-out overstatted and still has his giant upside when played on curve. The cheaper cards of the deck are slightly worse post-Venom than before and the IronMan/Mystique stuff is a little less nutty but it still feels like it has the chance to be overbearing when played early.
When you say that a 2/5 is over-statted, you need to consider the realities of the meta and power-creep. 2/5 doesn't even cut it anymore, and "the new normal" 3/5 is as lame as 3/3 used to be. Stat-sticks need to be like 2/6+ and 3s are more realistically considered against a 7-Power bar (i.e. your Angelas and Morbiuses, Sages, Cassandras and Surtrs, etc.), while the other cards need to provide abilities/synergies to justify them being "only" 2/5 or 3/5. I'm not saying AV is balanced now - just that his "power" is still contingent on getting up to +12 Power across other cards when played on curve (and that's before considering him hitting multipliers like Mysterio or Iron Man/Mystique)
I paid money for a competitive game. And I am happy they are making changes that they think will make the game stay fun and competitive during the holiday stretch. hope they continue to pay more attention to that🎉
@NuggyPoundy1 sorry you missed my point. Was trying to agree that I'm excited about them making changes they think are competitive. Unless I misunderstood yours and your disagreeing and arguing that second dinner is money grabbing or whatever feeds that i dont know. But I clarified my original post hope it clears up any misunderstanding or further supports my thoughts.
Playing a Darkhawk Ronan deck and I'm not keen on the a black widow changes, it has some nice applications as to when you time the activation, but it dramatically reduces when she can be played to be useful.
Excited to see you excited. I’m heading off to work shortly - it’s fun to think that I might come home to some new deck building ideas if your stream goes well today. Enjoy!
As an avid bounce enjoyer: yeah, that point off sable was fair. I could consistently get her to 5 power. If locations were nice, I could get multiple copies at 9 power.
If anyone is still buying season pass cards and getting angry when they get nerfed, which I'm sure they are, they must not be familiar with the adage, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." Or, in this case, "Fool me twenty times, maybe I need to rethink how I make decisions." 😂
I love these OTA's however one thing i still don't understand; some cards have literally never been good and barely or even never been changed. Not even compensation for the massive power creep since the beta days. How is Surtur a continuously scalable 3/4 yet Rhino is 3/3 with a very niche ability that hasn't ever been relevant? Or just compare all the Guardians with a card like Surtur. And yes i'm comparing an overpowered season pass card with vanilla ones. i know those starter cards are weaker on purpose but come on, you have to bump them up one or two points when every month you add vastly more powerful ones. And there is quite a list of pretty unplayable stuff purely based on base stats.
A balanced game doesn't mean all cards are equally good. That's borderline impossible. Also you are comparing season pass releases at Series 5. Cards for beginners get at the same level than cards made to impact the meta are very different. Can you imagine if you didn't need any new card bc u got better ones?
The game would be boring if every new card was balanced in comparison to cards you got at the start of your journey. Also beginners meta game is meant to be different from end-game meta game.
@@lucasfilipe1634 your overrating the beginner experience plus it’s simply not true. Iron Man is one of the best cards in the game. Odin, Nightcrawler, white tiger… it’s actually great if there is a home for most of the cards. Snap is not a game of filler. And the game has changed a lot since it came out. 3/4 vanilla now is not what 3/4 was when the game launched. Plus, most of the cards I think need a long overdue buff aren’t even starter. My mistake to call them starter, they’re probably more in the pool 2/3 region. But I do think cards like Cyclops should get a 3/5 statline. Polaris is 3/5 and does something. High evo isn’t doing much right now and cyclops isn’t in Patriot lists. Easy adjustment. And there are many more that can have a simple no brainer buff based on powercreep.
Surter change makes sense doesn't feel bad in it's own deck, agent venom felt like making cerbro 4 function was cool but the change to 3 power while being a 2/5 is awkward. Otherwise these changes felt like fine points off cards and thanos change has me excited to maybe play him again since I hadn't liked him since the removal of draw on soul stone a while back😊
they're changing black widow to activate because double widow's bite is annoying but then they change widow's bite anyway? 4:38 or is that just a mistake?
I'm very amused that I been checking for Agent Venom in the shop & he showed up with this update. Now, do I keep him pinned while I save up the tokens...
Looks like a great OTA and an interesting art of new cards releasing later this year. This is the kind of news that would prompt me to re-install Marvel Snap ... Except at this point, I have been gone too long and the returning player experience seems horrible :-(
Great video Jeff always appreciate you covering these changes but I have to ask the deck that you posted not long ago with agent venom, strong guy and others will it be affected by that cards change to where I can't play it anymore it's honestly been my go to deck lately and I appreciate that
The fact that changing a card to activate is such a nerf that it calls for an extra point of power is a huge testament to the failure that is activate.
So sad there is no love for cerebro… Cerebro 2 lost storm… C4 had such help with agent venom and now its gone and cant even help c3 or c5 But overall it was good balancing. I think we need a “tribunal” that makes power equal in the cards for cerebro so it can become more viable… But would be sad to lose the deck building chalenge. But overall im sad its losing it viability
I haven’t done any missions since Pocket dropped 😂 anyone else? I feel really behind now but also I’m just like eh cause of how shitty I view Snap now with the method to get new cards
Damn. That's LITERALLY half of my Skarr deck. Ouchie. At least I already hit infinite, but it does feel like too many nerfs of the one deck archetype. Was it really that dominant in the meta?!?
This update looks great! You can have up to 12 benched cards, and you get 6 colorless energy on the last turn!! But really, thank you for continuing to make high quality Snap content, even at this low point.
As I predicted, when AV will be in spotlight it won't be this good anymore. So P2W players can beat my ass and I'll get this. Probably actually nerfed again before coming into spotlight caches.
Oh yeah, the evil company that nerf Season Pass cards when Season Pass ends, but not during it's Season Pass. Is not like they nerfed 2 cards from the current Season Pass Card deck, right?

While i don't think the agent venom change is bad, I don't think he deserved the 5th point of power when compared to lizard's stat line
He should be at most a 2/3, probably lower
@joedoe7572 2/4 is fine. Do you have a reason why you do think 2/3 or lower? Aside from not liking to lose to buff iron men
Lizard doesn’t convert your 10 power cards to 3 power, which means he doesn’t force you to build a deck entirely around him like agent Venom does

Exactly. He should be a 2/3 or lower. I can't believe they buffed his personal power to 5
Lower power might make him scary for cerebro
Nkt to mention, his effect IS a downside

A vanilla 2/5 would barely see any play, so we can hardly say it's over statted

It's interesting that Thanos and Agatha say "draw Thanos/Agatha" instead of the typical "draw this".

I kinda wish they had made AV a 3-power card so that you could create Bast-AV Cerebro-3 decks :p

Agent Venom/Bast Cerebro 3?
AV would deny cerebro from spreading its buffs since he is now 5 powered

Agent venom is a 5 power card
Unlikely to work. But if you really want to try it, include Valkary to have a second way to lower AV's power to 3.
