Thats a horrible idea for starters in my opinion. Dota is not designed for turbo, it is made for players who dont want to learn the game and just have fun. It has its place, but its honestly a very bad idea for anew player to start their journey
So the reason it asks if you may have played RTS games before is because the original Dota All Stars, which both Dota 2 and LoL are derived, was a custom game in Warcraft 3 which was a full on RTS game. So the mod had elements of RTS even if it wasn't one completely. Then when Dota 2 was made a lot of the RTS mechanics were carried over like box selecting and controlling multiple units, control groups, all that good stuff. Meepo is a good example of where you'd have to use that. Not recommended for new players, its high ceiling stuff. Dota can be pretty overwhelming, especially when you have learned habits from League. But just take in what you can, pick heroes you think are cool and just have fun learning. The games get long when both sides are bad at ending the game, but in the long games you can get crazy overpowered!
Meepo's issue is not high ceiling, its incredibly high entrance point. Back in the day it was even worse, coz you could have individual travel boots on each of the clones and it was meta.
I alway love seeing new people playing dota 2 The have different Shop UI selected; on the top it allows you to chose how easy or complete you wanna see it
Surprisingly good content for such a small channel. Clicked on the reddit link and ended up watching the whole thing. Meepo is generally considered the most difficult hero in the game due to his high skill floor and cap. Based on your description though (splitpush + summons) there is a lot of Dota heroes you would love. Lycan, Nature's Prophet, Lone Druid, Beastmaster, Chen, Enchantress, Enigma, all spring to mind. I love both games but I would say League is more action oriented and Dota is more based on strategy and knowledge. I hope you keep playing and posting as you try the game.

Hahaha no worries, I have about 12 years in League and i'll never touch super complex champs like Leblanc or Zed. (That didn't stop me from jumping onto Meepo right away.)
One thing is when you're on hero selection, when you were trying to find meepo on your first game, you can just type their names, and their portrait will glow, helps navigating heroes that way
I'm like 2 months late but as a Dota 2 nerd: the reason it says RTS game is because initially Dota 1 was a mod in warcraft 3, a RTS. When Valve hired Icefrog, the main developer associated with Dota, to develop Dota 2: they initially branded it as an Action Real Time Strategy game. League of legends, and RIOT Games by extension, popularized the term MOBA which is why most games nowadays use that term. Whereas dota went by the term ARTS for a while during its early life span. That has since changed due to the term MOBA becoming so ubiquitous with the genre / style of game, but that's what it used to be like before.
The reason why the shop UI is so small is because you're supposed to buy items while you're playing, so it can't cover the entire screen like in League or Smite.
Regarding why the tutorial asked if you have played RTS games before is because in dota, you can manually control and pilot units you summoned and even use the spells of said unit/summon(if they have any) heroes like Meepo, Arc Warden, Beastmaster, Nature's Prophet, Lycan, Lone Druid, some of their summons and clones have spells and some don't, haven't played league in a while but if I recalled correctly, only Shaco can move around his clone by constantly pressing R(?), and Yorick too with his spells to control the movements of his mist walkers, even then the controls are limited to movement as you can't issue a manual attack for the clone or the mist walkers(kinda), so hope that clears up! Also, you made the right choice picking Wraith King! He's very beginner friendly and very similar to Yorick as hes quite tanky as well and he's one of the few "summon" heroes whose units can't be controlled, so he's very easy to use.
@@Tumultulous well given the fact the you already played one MOBA you can do that but every hero has its counter so i suggest played more than one hero so you can actually experience the game in a different way
Here is some trick. Try your hero at demo, try to focus what those skills can do and synergize with other active item> Then play against bot just to test the water> if you're confident, then play it against human. Here is some basic Pos 5(hard support): get the least farm. Your roles is to babysit your carry by harrasing your enemy, creep pulling, ward to prevent gank. During teamfight, your roles is to survive as long as you can and ensure that you activate all your skill. Jakiro is a great pos 5. E is such a great harrasing tools and ice path is like the best at saving your carry Pos 4(soft support): you need to farm for support item, normally like mekansm, arcane boots, drum of endurance. Pos 4 normally will take the lane after your carry go to jungle. Pos 4 reserve to support that can farm effectively. Like Enigma. Enigma roles is like jungler in Lol. You show yourself on the map after you got blink. Pos 3(initiator/tank): Choose your target carefully, disrupt them, and take damage. Normally resever to hero that can stun aoe. Sand king, eathshaker for example. You really need to scale, but you also will die a lot. So, start ganking after you buy some item to reduce loss. Pos 2(semi carry): Win mid, get item, help other lanes by ganking. It's the hero that can control the tempo of the game like Queen Of Pain. Buy big item, gank the enemy carry. Pos 1(carry): basically a hitter that have the highest DPS. Farm until you get your power spike, the, join the war, then farm again. Need very good farming skill but since you come from Lol, I think you definitely have the skill. Reseve to DPS hero like Wraith King, Drow Ranger, Sniper. easy to play hero but become hard due to you being the main target of your enemy. Have fun. Take your time. And use your mute button if you need to

If the match duration is what's killing it for you, there is a Turbo game mode. It essentially gives everyone a huge XP and gold boost, so matches go much faster. It's a completely different meta from regular games because of it though, so a lot of the more advanced tips you may get for timings, farming patterns and map movement won't really apply

Welcome to Dota 2 where you must find order in chaos pro tip you can click on the hero portrait on the top (beside the timer) to see their skill/inventory, and also as a target for point target skill/item Also when you die you can expand the death summary on the right side, telling what and who the damages and cc come from (usually left for most dota players because the default map is on the left)
*looking champs interlude* "I think I'm going to probably try Meepo" Oh well that escalated quickly hahahah!!! Btw unless you want to move the courier to a specific spot (wich is rarely something) you can play the whole game without ever selecting it. The buttons at the corner of the screen (or their hotkeys) are more than enough to do whatever you want with the courier. You can even right-click the send button to send it to the secret shop. You can select allies or enemy heroes to check what they do and their skills. Specially usefull while you're dead. I seen you have learned a lot in the span pf this video, thanks to chat I assume. Like the use of quick-buy and such. A nice tip for Meepo: his Ult doesn't have any active so you can assign anything in its hotkey. Like "select next controled unit", so you can iterate between the different Meepos quickly. This worked really well for me but for you TAB may work better for that.

If you like yorick gameplay of just staying on a lane and push it like crazy, try broodmother. She is yorick on steriods. Brood is a very thematic spider character. She likes to place webs in an area, like along a lane and surrounding jungle, and exert so much pressure by pushing, farming camps or just simply having kill threat and deny the area from the enemy. Her webs increases her hp regen and movement speed, but more importantly, grants her free movement: she can walk over any terrain and trees like they dont exist. Like yorick, she has summons too. She can spawn and have up to 24 spiderlings at a given time. But you can also micro each spiderling independent with each other.
@@Tumultulous my bad. TLDR Broodmother is great at pushing a lane like yorick. Her gimmick is having the most amount of summons in the game and free movement in her webs.

Hope you keep enjoying the ride. I would advise you to look and test out in the hero demo some of the silly and a bit broken stuff you can play. Like Mage sniper for instance. So dumb, so scary, the sound of your ult will put the fear of god into the heart of your foes. And you can play from half the map away once you get your stuff. For that one to work the build is simple: -Slippers of agility, a branch or 2, tangos and everything else depends upon what you want -Rush boots, either tranquil for regen or mana boots for obvious reasons -Phylactery, upgrade it to Khanda now or after the next item -Aghs Scepter for your ult Everything else you get afterwards will depend upon your team, farm and such but some good luxuries: -Aghanim shard to get sniper's escape spell -Anything that builds from a Kaya -Veil of discord to help and up your dps and tankiness -Octarine -Force staff / hurricane pike > good on most heroes -Blink dagger > Also good on most heroes For the facet, it's the scattershot For the skillbuild max shrapnel and ult first, early point in both headshot and take aim are also mandatory For overall position this works mid, support or hard support (don't forget your wards!) Just try that kit out in the demo and you'll understand the fear, the laughter and the madness XD
I suggest, to play wraith king next time. He only press 1 skill. It's a meme in the community but He is super strong right now. wraith king do straight forward gameplay. You stun somebody then you hit them. Thats it. its good for beginners.
the reason it is asking why you played rts games is cause it IS RTS deep within its game mechanics. as league is an ARPG. This makes dota more sandbox-y - and lead to naturally forming game mechanics which came from RTS(warcraft specifically) like denying, neutral stacking, orb effects and orb walking, creep/hero blocking, etc.
Seeing league players go into dota is interesting, but many make the same mistake: skipping tutorials or bot games and going straight into matches only to be overwhelmed and confused by how much is different and how many things they don't understand. Makes for amusing content, but not the best way to actually get into a game. For people who really want to get into the game I'd recommend a coach or watching videos on the game meant for league players, just something to help you get on your feet faster, and to tell you things that won't even be in the tutorial. For example: the way tower aggro works in dota is much different to league, and it's possible to damage enemies under tower without it aggroing and its possible to lose aggro by ordering an attack on a friendly target the same way you would to deny a creep. There's a lot more to it than that, but again this kind of niche but useful stuff is where coaches and guides come in handy. Also choosing meepo for your first hero is a hell of a choice. I'd equate that to a new player to league, who has never played a moba before, deciding they want to start by playing Azir and they want to do it without using a keyboard. In a way it's commendable, but it's also insane.
My guy, if you wanna learn dota learn how to pick lane first, laning phases is important, if you're not focusing on laning you'll lose the game, and of course, learn to use your role, if you're a support, help your carry by stacking camps, and giving them vision to the lane, also you need to participate on every team-fights/ganking. You will get to the point that you will learn how to do the basic stuff, also, you need to watch the timing of your teammates, if you know the situation is not very good, just try to play it out and stay positive.
i just started playing league and i gotta say that dota is surprisingly more newb friendly just the fact that you can read more info of the hero and stuff before the game (and heroes are free) and I'm sorry but league felt like a mobile game for some reason anyways, I'm thinking of jungle as my main cause it has the same style as a carry except laning many many more games before i can play rank tho 💀
@@wish2383 What? Id say league is WAY simpler to learn even without tutorials. You can ALSO demo all champions for free, though yes you DO have to buy em if theyre not in rotation that week. The game also goes into great detail explaining abilities in the boxes. Holding shift will give extra details (math stuff). Jungle is perfect for people to learn the game as you dont gotta contest. I laugh at the agreement of the mobile game comment tho lol cuz they DO have a mobile version. League is just simpler enough to do it. And its not a bad thing.

I liked the courier's comments 😆
lol, love when people tell me what parts they like xD helps me know if something is worth doin
I laughed so hard in this video...😂😂😂 All I can say is follow the tutorial before playing 😉 (the meepo though 😂)

Advice to every new dota 2 player dont pick meepo invoker or any of the spirit heros as ur first hero...
OR! Choose that one Hero and play them nonstop forgoing all other heroes until you become a god

Here is some trick. Try your hero at demo, try to focus what those skills can do and synergize with other active item> Then play against bot just to test the water> if you're confident, then play it against human.
Here is some basic
Pos 5(hard support): get the least farm. Your roles is to babysit your carry by harrasing your enemy, creep pulling, ward to prevent gank. During teamfight, your roles is to survive as long as you can and ensure that you activate all your skill. Jakiro is a great pos 5. E is such a great harrasing tools and ice path is like the best at saving your carry
Pos 4(soft support): you need to farm for support item, normally like mekansm, arcane boots, drum of endurance.

I would advise you to look and test out in the hero demo some of the silly and a bit broken stuff you can play. Like Mage sniper for instance. So dumb, so scary, the sound of your ult will put the fear of god into the heart of your foes. And you can play from half the map away once you get your stuff.
For that one to work the build is simple:
-Slippers of agility, a branch or 2, tangos and everything else depends upon what you want
-Rush boots, either tranquil for regen or mana boots for obvious reasons
-Phylactery, upgrade it to Khanda now or after the next item
-Aghs Scepter for your ult
Everything else you get afterwards will depend upon your team, farm and such but some good luxuries:
-Aghanim shard to get sniper's escape spell
-Anything that builds from a Kaya
-Veil of discord to help and up your dps and tankiness
-Octarine
-Force staff / hurricane pike > good on most heroes
-Blink dagger > Also good on most heroes
For the facet, it's the scattershot
For the skillbuild max shrapnel and ult first, early point in both headshot and take aim are also mandatory
For overall position this works mid, support or hard support (don't forget your wards!)
Just try that kit out in the demo and you'll understand the fear, the laughter and the madness XD

the reason it is asking why you played rts games is cause it IS RTS deep within its game mechanics. as league is an ARPG.

Insanity is where the fun is~
Never saw a single video but loved him immediately haha, keep playing the game bud!! 🥹
Hahaha Thank you so much!
