@Imsemble I've since learned how to use community guides, but just couldn't make the video even longer lol. But admitably have a different binding for Control all, and control all summons is kinda confusing to remember lol

Oh no, he's a brood enjoyer all along. :V Btw tumul, you should be spamming in making as many spiderlings as you can. You got soulring which provides you mana at the cost of HP where you could easily get from farming camps with your lifesteal
Man if you love summoners you HAVE to set up "control groups" in the settings. I usualy use buttons 1, 2, 3 etc. Basicaly you select units (2 Lycan wolves for example) and press Ctrl+1 (or your set key for the group) and those units will be selected when pressing 1 The best thing about it - that game remembers Control groups for each hero even in the next game so you need to set them up only once I advice to dedicate at least 1 button to your own hero and to the courier so would never need to search them manualy. Keep it up!
Tumultuous: I dont think i express that i like to play summoners Also tumultuous in the first 2 minutes of his first ever dota vid: I like split pushers and *summoners*
I want you to play Huskar. He is my favorite hero of all time. I always picked him all the way back in dota 1 days. He is challenging but one of the most satisfying heroes to play. Also, you must pick the *Incendiary Facet* otherwise you're not playing him right. Also, you must solo beat Roshan with Huskar with only 1 item "Armlet". He's the most infamous pub stomper.
@@celestialcolosseum I personally dont like it. Not many of the characters felt good to play. Maybe ill give it a 2nd chance in a month or so after they work out the kinks
Bloodthorn is good on Brood Mother because of the additional 50 damage on every attack. Your spiders does very little damage but because they are numerous and attack relatively vast you can delete someone from the game by silencing them and attack with you spiders. The cooldown is low so be sure to use it as much as possible.
Every single one of those do additional damage, and the time the silence from Bloodthorn expires, 60% of your spider army's autos just... Repeat, almost like Yone's E on ANY hero who plays it.
So, a few tips: 0) Be there for the bounty rune rather than afking at tower, or at least close by so you can get to lane in time 1) You started with tangoes and mangoes only. You are a core hero, and an universal one to boot, so you want plenty of stats, in particular given how soul ring is pretty much a must. Grab a couple gauntlets of strength for the soul ring and some branches too, two gauntlets and one branch alone would give you 5.6 damage for 330 gold, plus plenty of extra hp to bulk you up at the start. Also, broodmother doesn't really need tangoes at the start, a Quelling Blade does far more for you. 2) Always be checking what items you can buy for the compound items, and usually buy the pieces as you can afford them rather than the whole thing in one go. You lose less gold if you die, and the partial items help you through with stats. It also makes your courier getting killed way less painful 3) Use that orchid/bloodthorn. You died to cm twice because of not using it. 4) pay attention to the map, you were late to early skirmishes because you were messing around a bit too much. If you want to test a hero's abilities, try demo mode before queueing.
broodmother is the best. even her history. when i was small ive always used to watch my older brother play dota and he almost always played brood. and let me tell you, it was an experience for sure. she used to be invisible when she was in her webs. he absolutely dominated every game with her (the matches lasted only around 15 minutes). at one point i remember his friends told him to not come with brood because the game woukd be over too soon haha. i played (and still play) a lot with her too but sadly, shes only a shell of her former self, but even with all these nerfs, with a good early game and her spiderlings, she can control the whole map. without playing her a lot, you dont even realize how much utility her spiderlings have in addition to bonus damage
So a handful of small tips: 1) Always save for buyback in the lategame, since it's very rare that a single item will be more valuable than the ability to instantly respawn and rejoin a fight or go for a backdoor. You MIGHT have won that first game if you hadn't spent your buyback money on the Scythe of Vyse/Radiance and instead bought back to take out the isolated viper and gone back to split pushing. You can hold alt while hovering over your gold in the bottom left to see details on buyback cost. 2) Having "unified unit orders with ctrl" option enabled is pretty helpful for micro heroes I've found, especially when microing a bunch of summons with no abilities of their own. Let's you skip the all units control group and is good for quick and simple micro. 3) You can cancel tps, channels, animations, going through portals, and really anything with the stop command. Mine is bound to space bar but I don't remember what the default binding is. 4) Not being on webs as Broodmother is basically always bad, as you are slow as hell and your spiderling swarms will bodyblock you and each other slowing you down even more. It's also a mistake to max webs last; hell in basically all metas and all versions of Broodmother her webs have been maxed out first because their movespeed and spread are just way too important to the hero's functionality. 5) Remember that brood's ult is a solid nuke with a slow, and you can and should spam it on heroes in fights so long as you have the mana. From what I've seen in the comments so far, you have caught on to the idea of spamming it off cd while farming to build up an army, but the same holds true of fights. It does make the hero highly mana intensive, though, so mana items and mana management skills become important (something I've noticed most league players struggle with, since mana is much less of an important resource in that game). 6) You were kind of informed of this, but Templar Assassin can become invisible indefinitely but is unable to move from the spot while invisible (and gets a ton of bonus damage and minus armor when attacking out of invis). If you are vs a TA carrying detection, usually dust of appearance, is quite helpful. So, for reference, that time in the jungle when your team pinged you to retreat and you said "I could have gotten her if I had kept chasing" she actually hadn't left, she was just invisible, so you were never going to get her, and when you backed up to farm the jungle you were still in vision and in range of her which is how she just deleted you. Venomancer and Teemo are vaguely similar in the sense that they both have a passive DoT on their autos and are incredibly frustrating in some matchups, but the real Teemos of dota (in the sense of being specialist heroes the community as a whole hates playing against) are Tinker and old Techies, maybe Phantom Lancer. Old Techies was the most analogous, with 3/4 of his skills being invisible bombs you try and get the enemy to run into similar to Teemo's shrooms, but after Techies got reworked it's probably TInker (who btw has a blind on his Q, so yes in some ways they made Teemo by taking some of the most frustrating aspects of 3 frustrating heroes). Also if you want a funny little story about old Techies: the only ever NA team to win The International (basically dota's Worlds) did so off the back of old Techies. The hero at the time was widely considered a joke by the playerbase in the same way as Teemo is, I.E. a hero that makes the game annoying but also griefs their own team by being kinda useless and is especially effective at higher levels of play. However Evil Geniuses had 1 player (Aui_2000) who actively hated Techies and wanted the hero removed, and thus took it upon himself to play him and ruin everyone's fun to try and build support for his movement to delete the hero, thus being the only team at the tournament who played the hero. Other pros were not used to playing against it and would end up first phase banning it, especially after a few teams let it through and lost to it, just to avoid a matchup they were uncomfortable in. However, each teams only got 2 first phase bans and those bans were already not enough to remove all the dominant threats of the tournament, so losing 1 of the 2 was a huge deal. As a reward for winning them the tournament, E.G kicked Aui from the team after it was over. He would eventually become the coach of another TI winning team, Tundra, and is currently coaching Team Falcons, the arguably most dominant team of the last year (though they didn't win TI).
Sorry, but I can't read this until it's in MLA Format. Times New Roman, 12point font, & Double Spaced... 3) re: I honestly dislike that you have to have cancel bound as a key rather than just right click out of it. Seems a LITTLE counter-intuitive. 4) re: That's good to know. I've been Maxing E first then Q 2nd since I felt like I was already spamming her W as needed anyhow, so i only really upgraded it before the others in a moment I need instant reload I played Techies! They're so fun! Yikes. I can't imagine being so high up the ladder to be in a World's tournament and still being toxic. Maybe it's because I didn't play him back in the day, but I have some SUPER fun with Techies and I really wanna play them more xD
@@Tumultulous For TP scrolls specifically there's an option you can check/uncheck to make them cancelable through any action, that I believe is checked by default. It was added after I started playing the game, but I still use it because I have had too many incidents of accidentally canceling a TP, where as learning to cancel with a stop command is really not difficult and just a matter of experience. Plus the stop command has other, higher level uses (such as animation canceling), so spending a bit of time to just get accustomed to it at some point is not a bad idea. As for techies and Aui, the thing you have to realize is that old Techies is not the same hero as current Techies in the same way that old Aatrox is not the same champion as current Aatrox. Old Techies skillset (at the time of TI5) was: Q - an invisible, stackable, bomb that did a ton of physical damage and blew up when someone got into range of it. You'd commonly go and set up a stack of these before creeps even spawned in the hope that someone would blunder into them and die instantly, hopefully giving you first blood. There were even points in lane you could set them up where they wouldn't be triggered by the creeps normal pathing but enemy laners were likely to walk over, killing them instantly. W - an invisible bomb, with a long arm time and trigger time after an enemy walks into range, that stunned everyone in a big aoe for a really long time but did no damage. E - Techies blows himself up, denying himself (he dies but enemies get 0 gold and exp), and doing an absolute shit ton of damage to nearby enemies and half damage to farther away enemies. With 1 level in it you could kill squishies in lane from like 75% hp if they got into melee range. Had a really long cooldown, though. R - An invisible bomb that does a ton of magic damage in a large aoe and has to be manually triggered. Except, it also blows up when destroyed (all his bombs did at the time) and with lvl 2 and an aghs did enough damage to 1 shot a creepwave with a single bomb, making it incredibly difficult to push into techies. Oh, and when maxed out with aghs scepter they did enough damage that a stack of 5-6 would usually be enough to instakill anyone in range of them, and they only had like a 10s cd and lasted for something like 10 mins. Disclaimer: I actually liked old Techies, one of the few people who did, but I can easily understand the vast majority of people who didn't. In the case of Aui_2000, the dude is actually chill as fuck, not toxic at all. You can find his interview on youtube I think, where he talks about his reasons for wanting techies removed from the game and basically says "When you play techies you are the only one having fun. The hero is fun as fuck, but you are spoiling the fun of the other 9 players." The "picking it to draw attention to how cancerous it is" is just the excuse I've heard for why he plays it despite thinking it should be removed, it's entirely possible the team picked up the hero because he realized how much of an edge it would give them at the tournament.
@@Tumultulous actually you can cancel with right click There's a settings for it It is on on default that you have to cancel the channeling because You don't want to waste a tp or a channelled ult for example like black hole from enigma by accident One small misclick thru right click could be a disaster It's not counter intuitive it's, rather being careful than sorry

So one thing that will help you with keeping more gold is to look up reliable and unreliable gold. Also, don't wait to buy an item until you can buy the whole thing. Go ahead and get the smaller items as you can. It will give you more power and if you die, the enemy team wont get the extra gold. Edit: love love love your videos! ahhhh admitably all I read was that they let you tp infinitely and since i was playing turbo mostly i didn't bother to try em. Good to know if i ever do allpick xD
A big tip for just quickly attacking with all units when someone appears is to use the unified command, i think the default is ctrl, just holding it and rightclicking someone will make all your units, even then ones not selected try to attack.
Btw your spiderlings don't have phasing movement outside of web, that means they can have some struggle moving and attacking due to colliding with eachother outside of web. "Wow my attack speed is way higher now" that's because Bloodthorn is built with an Hyperstone, the highest Attack Speed component item. If you read Bloodthorn active you will inmediatly notice why it is so good on Brood and her spiderlings. The Aghanim scepter can be "upgraded" to consume it, this will remove any stats it gives but will free up an item slot. You can see Aghanim status at the right side of your abilities btw, is that blue glow. Broodmother has a huge weakness, ironically is her high number of spiderlings. Wich some abilities can abuse, like Earthshaker's ultimate and slugger facet, Grimstroke's stroke, Warlock's innate. Legion Comander's Q and such. Btw remember to use your Orchid more often, is your combo starter. 34:30 that was a really nice bkb use! You would have escaped that easily if Huskar ult taunt from Scepter didn't pierced through bkb.
My lol player side would be with you on the confusion. My Dota player side would've tipped 5 times after the first few deaths and DC'd if I saw my carry do that. You should totally play Meepo next.
Heya, the vids are pretrty fun so far. If you find things are too frustrating/bullshit well, dota is just a bit of a knowledge check just like league. Except a lot of concepts aren't like league or almost any other moba at all (deadlock is the closest, and it's literally made by the dota devs) so a lot of things won't seem to make sense at all. Usually the best course of action is to just read up stuff, do tutorials and spam demo mode. Seriously there are so many features in dota that help you learn, way more than league. BUT that can be boring. I heavily recommend Tzar potato's videos, in case you haven't seen them yet. He even do free coaching for new players I think.
@@Tumultulous yep, a lot of league folks have a problem with turn rate. But believe it or not it actually serves as a balancing tool. It's one of the reasons why laning as a melee char against ranged doesn't suck as much. That in turn allows for much more flexible roles, like carries are allowed to be melee now
3:00 evasion used to be a big thing in league. Jax was a god because a lot of his best items gave him crazy evasion and his old... e(?) gave him a ton of evasion
Wow u made a lot of progress 👍. Remember when u try a new hero just capitalize the best spell of the hero. Brood's spiderlings is kinda broken so u want to get lvl6 fast and get 2 core items immediately
Am.... Am I smelling advertisements in my comment section? Also cool to hear other peeps know Eternal Return! I was there when it FIRST came out, (not the 1.0 but when it first hit the steam market) I loved the idea of a MOBA Battle Royale. Sissela was my main. Her kit tickled a part of my brain that made me feel SO GOOD when i'd properly land her auto->Q->auto->E->Auto -> Q -> Ult. I haven't played it's 1.0 but I plan to!
You might've noticed already random spiders poping up but just in case so you know your spiderlings have a passive that they also infect units they hit with a weaker egg that spawns a single spiderling when you attack. So be sure to reselect your army whenever you're done farming enemies.
Since you like summoners that much You should use select all unit command So you dont have to drag and click Also use the select all other units(will select all summons exept your main hero)
I don't see the comment yet so here it is: soul ring gives you mana via an active ability that costs some health and gives mana. It gives tons of mana for such an inexpensive item and broodmother has lots of healing/lifesteal and can sustain it. Figured I would mention it since I didn't see you use the active at all in either game. I've enjoyed watching you try out dota!

The spiderlings are really weak on their own because of your Q and Bloodthorn, which is an item that silences a target and makes them take a flat amount of damage every time they're attacked by you or your units. With 10-12 spiderlings a silenced enemy takes like 600 DPS, plus at the end of the silence they take an extra 60% of all the damage they took during it.
Yup, dota has turn rate, which determines how fast your unit turns around. This impact 2 things, casting targeted spells/items and attacking. In the latter case, it reduces the effectiveness of ranged heroes from kiting you, since they lose time turning around every time they do.
Dota is a vast game and the amount of knowledge you can learn about the game is humongous. But it's always fun to learn new stuff even after 5k hours. As people already said you really need to mess with settings a bit, bind your neutral slot as there are some good actives there, set up some control groups with hero/courier/other-than-hero-units binds and check on or off some boxes. I could help with them a bit. You can also turn on subtitles in Dota, even if I am the only person on planet playing Dota with them on. Btw, the "default" map position is on your left like in Warcraft III from where Dota was born as just a custom map.
I heard about that last bit. I'm glad the map is on the right as i'm used to it thanks to league, but also so I don't have to move my character to block the map.... (no matter how easy that is)
@@Tumultulous it all ofc comes down to preferences and there is a minimap side swap toggle box in the options, usually Dota players tend to use left-sided map and you can try it yourself but it's your choice what side of the map to have. But there are plenty of good and useful options you better be aware of
-Venomancer is technicaly a summoner; but u cant move the units he summons. -Teemo is the *Techies* of League. -Only take 1 neutral token of each tier; send the others to BASE -You will get used to using active items; every new player does eventually. We all try only passive items at first and slowly use the others. (happen to me) Soul is actually really good to get used to it. -Between hero abilitys and items are the icons for the Aghanim's scepter and the shards. if they glow, you have them. You bought and upgade to the scepter to have its effects but not need it on the items. -You can cancel teleports hahaha -Oh damn! you are playing turbo!; it is actually more dificult to learn to play in there, the timing is too fast and snowballing is way stronger there... but I guess regular games have more people that already know the game. -That buyback was actually worth it! -So now the next heroes are, Nature Prophet, Lone Druid, Visage and Venomancer; Clap
@GearDiego23 I Q for All Pick & Turbo so I don't have to wait too long while streaming~ I've actually tried Techies! They're so fun! I have no idea how to cancel teleports, I was right clicking like a MAD MAN and still couldn't do it

Next time, think about setting up a hotkey for your inventory items. Active items can be very useful. If you're playing a hero that summons units, binding a key to control all of your summons can make it easier to manage them. When you need to command your summons, you can simply press that key. I understand you're new to this game, but with practice, you'll get the hang of it eventually.

Man if you love summoners you HAVE to set up "control groups" in the settings. I usualy use buttons 1, 2, 3 etc.
Basicaly you select units (2 Lycan wolves for example) and press Ctrl+1 (or your set key for the group) and those units will be selected when pressing 1
The best thing about it - that game remembers Control groups for each hero even in the next game so you need to set them up only once
I advice to dedicate at least 1 button to your own hero and to the courier so would never need to search them manualy. Keep it up!

This guy is so fun and positive to watch.. He's becoming my favorite newbie dota content creator.. 🎉

@@zerovermilion8715 this has been patched out though. It does lesser damage when used by summons.
So, a few tips:
0) Be there for the bounty rune rather than afking at tower, or at least close by so you can get to lane in time
1) You started with tangoes and mangoes only.
It also makes your courier getting killed way less painful
3) Use that orchid/bloodthorn. You died to cm twice because of not using it.
4) pay attention to the map, you were late to early skirmishes because you were messing around a bit too much. If you want to test a hero's abilities, try demo mode before queueing.
I don't play Dota anymore but good to see new people trying it out
Sounds like a good time to get back in!
broodmother is the best. even her history. when i was small ive always used to watch my older brother play dota and he almost always played brood. and let me tell you, it was an experience for sure. she used to be invisible when she was in her webs. he absolutely dominated every game with her (the matches lasted only around 15 minutes). at one point i remember his friends told him to not come with brood because the game woukd be over too soon haha. i played (and still play) a lot with her too but sadly, shes only a shell of her former self, but even with all these nerfs, with a good early game and her spiderlings, she can control the whole map. without playing her a lot, you dont even realize how much utility her spiderlings have in addition to bonus damage
So a handful of small tips:
1) Always save for buyback in the lategame, since it's very rare that a single item will be more valuable than the ability to instantly respawn and rejoin a fight or go for a backdoor.
I've been Maxing E first then Q 2nd since I felt like I was already spamming her W as needed anyhow, so i only really upgraded it before the others in a moment I need instant reload
I played Techies!
Old Techies skillset (at the time of TI5) was:
Q - an invisible, stackable, bomb that did a ton of physical damage and blew up when someone got into range of it.

A big tip for just quickly attacking with all units when someone appears is to use the unified command, i think the default is ctrl, just holding it and rightclicking someone will make all your units, even then ones not selected try to attack.
You're gonna love Phantom lancer

Ah nahhhh nothings really bullshit. I think the only thing that baffled me was the idea of a TURN RATE. But aside that, game's guud.

Good to know! Thank you!

(no matter how easy that is)
@@Tumultulous it all ofc comes down to preferences and there is a minimap side swap toggle box in the options, usually Dota players tend to use left-sided map and you can try it yourself but it's your choice what side of the map to have. oh hey im in the video
-Venomancer is technicaly a summoner; but u cant move the units he summons.
-Teemo is the *Techies* of League.
-Only take 1 neutral token of each tier; send the others to BASE
-You will get used to using active items; every new player does eventually.
-You can cancel teleports hahaha
-Oh damn! you are playing turbo!; it is actually more dificult to learn to play in there, the timing is too fast and snowballing is way stronger there... but I guess regular games have more people that already know the game.
-That buyback was actually worth it!
-So now the next heroes are, Nature Prophet, Lone Druid, Visage and Venomancer;

@@GAMSON090 Please refer to the 1st video i made on Dota xD
Look up for some pros playng broodmother. Deyracho plays it in the International.
you can tip your opponent bro after you kill them so they think you insult them hahahaha
@@christianmtb8831 I aint about that life
she tricked me hahaha im dead
Never pick broodmother when someone from your enemy picks earthshaker,
Your automatically dead..
Just be careful
Jokes on them! I don't care about counters! I just wanna play who I like! If I can't make it work it's a skill issue >:D AND BOI do I.... not have the skills yet lol. Thanks for the advice
Love how videos about league of legends sucking on dota are way more popular than dota players playing too well to be new on league. People really have egos.
@@pauloromero5477 I think you just havent been on the right channels
If you want I can coach you just so you can get a better understanding of the basics quickly because it doesnt actually take a lot to grow quickly, and especially with summon heroes there are many tricks that are easy to do once you know about them and just make your life easier. I don't have a channel or anything, I just like to help out new players. I'm Immortal rank so I'd be able to pick out the most important things to learn I think.
I'm not looking to coach but if you're looking to game then i'm always available (for the most part)! + the discord has gotten plenty of Dota players as of late lol
There were like 10 instances where you'd win if you just used orchid
@@cheeseman9980 Maybe within the next 10 times ill remember :D
better change that map setting to left kinda weird playing dota with map on the right side
There's a reason it's called the RIGHT side and not the WRONG side >:D *Badum tsss* But in all seriousness i'm a league player, feels more instinctual for me to keep it there
U better play Nature Phropet
@@Allen_k2 I have. Thatll be PART of the next video but dont expect good results lol. Ill play him again but when I get to the Ns of the All Hero Challenge
Try playing veno, its one of the most frustrating hero to play against.
I will be playing all of them Alphabetically soon
@@Tumultulous oh i cant wait seeing you play my favorite hero axe, one of the most fun offlaner in the game! blink dagger -> Q -> pop blade mail -> and finish with ult.
U COULD HAVE OWN THEM IF U BOUGHT BLACK KING BAR (BKB)
IT MAKES U IMMUNE TO SPELLS FOR A BIT
Old broodmother is more stronger than new brood because you can farm at level 2 (get web on lvl1) your spiderling is your 1st skill in old brood.. if your opponent leaves you.. their tower is be gone like few seconds.. brood mid is better though
Would you like a free collextor Meepo set? I got a spare one lol
I dunno what this entails. Can't really find any details about it.
@Tumultulous erm entails? No lol I just have a spare set, and I could give it to you. There's no need to do anything for me at all! But of course, I need to wait 1 month till I can gift you when I add you as a friend on Steam. Steam has an anti scammer system that needs one month of friend verification before gifting.
Why do Heralds and LOL players hate BKB?
Heralds? Like. The Rank? Also this was recorded on my 2nd day I wasn't too used to using active items that much (Especially new ones I gotta remember) It's kinda weird cause I use em in League but in Dota I think I just don't got the items actives memorized to muscle memory
@Tumultulous I see, good luck in your next games bro.
i have F1 for main hero,F2 for all unit, F3 for other unit than my main
therefore i can switch quickly
@@ItsBeePOfficial Hmmm thats pretty doable. I might be able to do that since i have some muscle memory from my maplestory days for those keys lol.
@@Tumultulous with that you can do the blink poof trick on meepo easier
It can also be used to help laning while farming
If you end up using invoker you can summon forge spirits, F3, then make them auto pushing the lane or farming, then F1 back to your hero
Don't forget to select 'auto sellect summoned units'
It will help you if you spawn new units, i see you have a hard time with broodmother in this video
people that dont know turn rate is the people from LOL
and they called turnrate is janky and slow
I don't know any other moba that has turn rate specifically listed as a stat, but it's meh. I wouldn't say it's janky. Just surprising
did you crystal maiden is the owner of rylai staff
@@christianmtb8831 yup! Cool funfact!
@Tumultulous crystal maiden name is rylai and Lina is her sister
I'm not a spooder player but I know she's a great map controller. Whenever you pushed a tower, ex bot tower, you should push to control the enemy bot jungle. Switch farming from enemy jungle to lane pushing and since wards are free, you should also ward. I hate her as support cause she can surprise butt fck you with silence using bloodthorn.
ah! here it is; my very very old main. Then the game got way too hard for it.
@@GearDiego23 Not if you ult everything in sight and run it down >:D
You can request a coach that can teach new players its free and in game
That's a really cool feature, but i'm not doing that. Also Part 4 is best part of jojo (imo)
You like trappers? How about traps that go boom? You would've liked the old techies..
I gotta vid with them in it maybe by Sunday or Monday. Had a BLAST playing em in such a stupid silly way
