Absolutely stunning, especially that view to savour while having your morning coffee. Really unspoilt and beautiful, think I’d have sat there all day, just staring. Thanks for sharing this, inspirational eye candy.
Don’t shoot the messenger but you really shouldn’t be camping in Cwm Idwal nature reserve - it’s a SSSI designated area which comes with increased levels of protection than what is generally the case, including a strict no camping stipulation
To be fair, I think we were outside the SSSI, away from the water and out the back at Devil’s Kitchen. We would never camp in a SSSI on purpose. All I can say is we certainly weren't the only ones there and we left without a trace and made no disturbances during our brief visit. Wild camping is illegal in most parts of the UK so it’s really hard to please everyone.
@@BackpackingUK that’s not quite the case mate. While you’re right (ish) about the legalities of wild camping Cwm Idwal really is a no-go area as it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to some unique species that are found there. Once you’re up and out of the Cwm it’s fine but it’s the only area where rangers really will ask you to move on from every time. Like Andy said, don’t shoot the messenger, but camping in Cwm Idwal will definitely do the wild camping cause no favours at all. 👍🏼 As for not being the only ones there; as TH-camrs you have an additional responsibility to be aware of these issues and not promote camping in areas where we really shouldn’t be camping.
Lovely video Andy. Fantastic scenery. Hope the Naturehike serves you well. I bought one direct from China a month ago but have yet to try it out; maybe next week on the Isle of Arran?
Love the track! Beautiful views, I agree it's a crack'in spot, and the view when you wake up! Water views, beautiful. Friends you have a new sub and like.👍🌏
Wow, is right! What is the elevation there? In America, there are trees until you get to the alpine climate, roughly 10,000 ft/3,000m. Is that location in England?
Only about 2k from the main car park. Went we hiking before wild camping and then hiking again the next day. Usually we go backpacking and take our backpacks with us but we didn't need to for this wild camp.
Thanks. I didn't know that at the time, but I also think we were so high up at the back it is actually out of the SSI Site zone as we were near Devil's Kitchen.
@@BackpackingUK Thanks buddy. I actually did this path on Friday after watching your video. I climbed up via the devils kitchen, pitched my tent there for the night and on Saturday hiked up to Y garn and back down to ogwells cottage car park. Absolutely amazing views. Thanks for getting back to me.
@@BackpackingUK 😁 brilliant, hopefully we will bump into each other again. I would def recommend the spot we had above you, was amazing. Happy adventures, all the best Paul 👍
why did you choose the cloud up 2 as your tent there and not another higher brand tent like the hubba hubba? i can imagine that you have a lot of high brand tents to choose from.
Did you face any problems whilst camping? I've read it's illegal unless you get permission. I'm hoping to do it in Feb for one night then hit the peak. Thanks. Lee.
Hi Andy, love your videos! I'd like to go hike and wild camp in Snowdonia around snowdon peak (perhaps by a lake) this weekend. Will I be alright to just wild camp there (in terms of legally/being shouted at to move off?). And where is best to leave my car overnight in the area?
But also this devils kitchen area looks incredible! Might go there! Did you need permission from the land owner and where is best to leave your car overnight for devils kitchen hike?
I can't remember now because we've been up there a couple of times (we also went us Y Garn and the Glyders. To get to this location you can access it from both sides of the Lake.
That was stunning Andy enjoyed that nice one 👌👍
So pleased, cheers Gary 👍

It really was stunning and totally unspoilt too.
What a cracking location, cracking weather and cracking video. Thanks for sharing that. Certainly gives you inspiration. 🏕
Cheers mate 👍
Yer man its like magic. Hard to explain. You have got it. Found where one needs to be. I have felt it. Enjoy.
I still can’t explain it now. All I know is I feel totally different up in the mountains!🏔
Wow! So beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Wow what a view 😍 & especially amazing in the morning!

Most people head off to the Lakes but this place was on another level!
Great video and what an awesome view from your tent ⛺️
Thanks 👍

Cheers 👍
All about the views fella. Well done.
That water looks so good to drink as well.
The water was crystal clear everywhere. If I'd forgotten my water filter it wouldn't have bothered me.
Fantastic views! Jealous, I need to get back to Wales now we can. ATB fella, cheers for sharing
I highly recommend this location, well worth the trip 👍
Man, this view is awesome, pretty good spot, nice video mate 👍
Thanks 👍
Very gorgeous area, being a photographer I'd go nuts hiking there.
The whole area is stunning. My mate is a photographer and I heard his shutter all day!
Great spot, good video.
Thanks 👍
Walked here many times. Lived a few miles away for about 20 years. I'm still not to far away, I might give it a bash.
It's a cracking location. I would get yourself high up at the back, fantastic views!
Worth staying over a weekend.
I wish I could of but 2 hard days hiking is enough for me at the moment, I'm out of practice.
Love the track! Beautiful views, I agree it's a crack'in spot, and the view when you wake up! Water views, beautiful. Friends you have a new sub and like.👍🌏
Thank you very much!
Great video, you eat better in the mountains than I eat at home, wouldn't have wanted to be carrying your pack with that lot in there though......
Haha I love my food! My backpack weighed approx 13kg including 2 litres of water. That's not bad to be fair.
Spectacular views, loved the walking path. Water views, stunning! Would love to camp here, but a bit far to travel.....Aussie girls👍☺☺☺☺
Well, you know where to go if you ever travel over here 😀
Wow, is right! What is the elevation there? In America, there are trees until you get to the alpine climate, roughly
10,000 ft/3,000m. Is that location in England?
Much, much, MUCH lower. approx. 1000m / 3,000ft at the top. This location is in Wales.
@@BackpackingUK Must have something to do with the latitude, I suppose.
Backpacking and wild camping beats a holiday in a hotel or a resort.
100%!

Looks like Skyrim, really nice!
Just a heads up Backpacking UK Cwm Idwal is a SSI site, wardens will and do move Camper on.

Hi Andy, I'm pretty certain we bumped into each other on the day u where here. We camped above on y garn. New sub here 👍
Yes we did, 100%! I’ve subbed back. As you can see we had a really good time too.

I like to try tents from lots of different Brands and lots of different budgets too.
Cool video bro. Was it cold at the top of snowden?
I've just made a brand new channel and posted my first ever video. Let me know what you think!
Much colder higher up. Someone we met in the morning had ice all over their tent! I'll check you vid out!
Did you face any problems whilst camping? I've read it's illegal unless you get permission. I'm hoping to do it in Feb for one night then hit the peak. Thanks. Lee.
Everywhere is illegal. Just follow the guidance and you should be ok.
@Backpacking UK Thanks bud. 😊

I left the car in a lay-by down the road. Lots of people do the same.
You should be ok as long as you don’t pitch up too early.
@@BackpackingUK Cheers thanks Andy appreciate the tips!
@@BackpackingUK is it safe to drink the water from the streams and lakes there? Or do I need to carry all drinking and cooking water with me.
Hi
Lovely video
How long does it take to walk from the road, where you leave the car?
Not long at all, we were right at the back and that is probably 2m / 3k away. We walked from the laybys on the A5.
What trail was you on mate ?
We did Y Garn and The Glyders but went back to the car to get the big bags and came up from the Tourist Centre.
Can you share location
hi mate what route was this?
I can't remember now because we've been up there a couple of times (we also went us Y Garn and the Glyders. To get to this location you can access it from both sides of the Lake.
Wine oclock.
