Like a trip down memory lane. I recently rebuilt an 81’ GL1100.
Stripped all that add on crap off and made her look like factory once again. She sat unloved for 5 years in a backyard in eastern Canada, I don’t think there is any part on my bike that I haven’t touched.
I’ve since put around 11,000km on her in the past 2 years.
Have fun with her, great bike, so happy I put the time and love into mine.
Can’t wait for spring!!
Hell yeah! Thanks for watching. You just can't kill these old Honda's. I'm so stoked for summer. I'll make a riding video when the snow melts. Stay tuned!
Nicest model of goldwing ever made before it was turned into a battleship. Remember when it first came out.
I agree! They just don't make bikes like they used to.
Honda Pro Technician tip, you definitely need to change timing belts if you can't positively prove the history of them.
To make the job 150 percent easier and more efficient.
Take a 10 m.m. combination wrench, 12 point box on 1 end, open on the other, doesn't matter the brand, cut it in half. Now weld a 12 inch piece of flat or round stock to connect the 2 halves. Now you can just stand off to the side and remove the belt cover bolts, easy peasy. It saves so much undue hassle.
Good luck with the old girl.
Thanks for the tip, ill give it a shot! I actually have timing belts on order already. Should be here in a day or so. Thanks for watching! Ride Hard Brother.
You can't beat a Honda. I bought a GL 550 Silverwing that had sit for 10 years. I changed the oil, put new plugs and a battery, and rode it for 2yrs trouble free
Nice! Typical Honda, Love it!
Great bike, i got one identical in Europe for 950€ in 2024. Is the best bike ever for confort ❤
😜 I only paid $300 for my 81... 😬 It's sat for 15 years... 😢 Unfortunately mine's not running as good... 🤔 I think I'm going to have to rebuild my carbs... 🙏🏻 You should send me those gaskets, lol... ❤ I really love that flamed seat... 🔥 I'm thinking of doing a flamed paint job mine... 😉 So if it's in good shape and you wanna let it go let me know...
Those were so nice!
beautiful bike
Great video! Master level edit!
Thanks man!
Mmm . . . mancave Goood, with Honda's in the house ! Pay the Man His Money.
Good idea to replace Timing belts.
Good call! I'll definitely add that to the list.
Best bike ever.
This style Goldwing reminds me of the 76 cb750
I'll go on record and say just toss that carb kit and get one from Randakks cycle shack.
I have an 83 that I paid $2000 Canadian for - running. Unfortunately the starter died and I have to install a new one, and there are a few other things need adjustment.
Looks good. Make sure you do the timing belts. It's an interference engine and if the timing belt breaks it's junk
You got a title with it that the bad to the😂
It actually did come with title surprising! Plus a box full of parts
I pick up a 1981 last year for 600 and had 4700 original miles.for son he then traded it to a good friend of mine he got her up and running had a dealership install new tires won't mention dealership but it's in spokane wa.. he had the front tire pop off the bead and destroyed the ferring and bent the handle bars..
Wow, that sounds like a really good find! I'm sorry to hear what happen, yeah it's getting harder and harder to find good mechanics, that's for sure.
@@MeleeMotors I sent my buddy a link to your video.. I all thought the bike looked good all dressed up but man it looks great naked..
Awesome. Thanks for the share! Yeah I totally agree, there's just something about a naked goldwing that just draws you in. Stay tuned, I'll be doing a lot more videos with this bike once the snow melts. Thanks for watching.
Nice man, but those bars😂
OEM Honda bars from 1983. All original 😎
The fairing and luggage were built by Craig Vetter . Honda was the second company to use his product. BSA hurricane was the first .
I wish it was a wind jammer built by Vetter. This one was actually made by the brand Pacifico called the shadow classic fairing. Practically worthless in my opinion. I like keeping bikes OEM. Thanks for watching!!
@@MeleeMotors it was labled Windjammer. Guess someone put a sticker on it to make people think it was a real one
where i live , you would paid at least 5k for that bike
Pretty much the same here, I just got really lucky!
Michelin tires and check the brakes .
$2,800.00 is my guess
500 to800
I got one 82 goldwing interstate for free
SCORE!
Its got all kinds of things going on ordering a book so I can work on it
Nice! Yeah, I've got an owners manual for mine. It's SO helpful.
Never had one of these I got it to start and ran for a min I think I'm going to pull carbs and clean them change plugs and go from there
300.00
Good guess!
