Really digging your videos. No fluff. No advertising. Just solid info delivered rapidly. Im a beginner angler with only experience fishing trout in faster moving spring fed rivers with lots of shoals. So fishing lakes and slow moving water is an alien concept to me. Your videos are second to none. Thank you so much Nat. ❤
Thank you. Your time is valuable and so is mine. No need for long, pointless intros or dishonest product pushing. You can expect to find concise, factual videos on this channel without a bunch of product pushing like too many other channels have.
Just caught my pb here in Michigan 2 days ago. 4.8 pounds. I love this channel because of how realistic and detailed it is. Also because you could condense the entirety of the basics of bass fishing into 4 minutes! I would love if you did one of these videos for smallmouth as I sometimes struggle with those. Thanks Nat!
The thrill of your first big fight with a monster large mouth is something you'll never forget. Especially if you're not even expecting it, like when I was once fooling around on a dirty little creek, expecting nothing more than pan fish, when a 5 pound bass slammed my lure. That adrenaline rush just can't be beat!
Love your videos Nat! I’ve been catching bass by at least once or twice a day! My go-to’s have been the drop shot and Carolina rig. Plus I’ve also caught a 2-3lb bass twice in the same pond. Which has me concerned that I may be catching a nesting bass, guess if I catch him again I’ll feed him some night crawlers so he doesn’t go fully hungry.
Thanks - I appreciate it. I would like to do one of these on catfish. It's a challenge to find and film them during the day when lighting is good enough to film them. I've been trying and I have gotten a few good clips so far.
A million thanks for the dedication and work that you put on this videos... you have taught me a lot. I’ve started fishing a month ago haven’t catch anything yet but I’m close thank to your lessons... could you explain that different bobbers and their use for different situations?? Thanks ❤ keep up the awesome content 🎉
Really this vedio is a great vedio it helps for fishing. Sir just a quick question I have brought top water lures and thiis lures name is fishus lurenzo espetit is this 140mm lurenzo lures is it best for barramundi fishing please can you tell me
It would depend on the size of the bass that are around and how heavy the cover is that you're fishing. I catch 12-18" smallmouth and largemouth on my medium-light and medium combos, but only in open water. If I'm fishing around heavy vegetation or fallen trees, I'll use a medium power with 20lb braid or medium-heavy with 30lb braid. I'm a big fan of the carbons in any power rating.
hello! great video. but i was wondering if u could maybe include what regions in the continents these fish reside in. just a thought. great video for the rest🙌🏽
Thanks for the feedback. Largemouth are native to the Mississippi River basin and southeastern United States but have been introduced to most of the U.S. except the areas around the Rocky Mountains.
no one talking about how 0:07 bro had a whole other bass in his throat not even fully swallowed and he was already trying to eat another fish by grabbing the jerk bait??
A video on fish behavior relating to getting spooked might be cool. Things like swivels, sounds, sights, actions, and colors/textures that can possibly spook fish might be interesting if there is any published research on the topic.
New to your channel what region are you from? Im in the central valley in california. Lots of bass and trout fishing around here still pretty new to the fishing game
I would highly recommend watching this video I made about buying your first set of beginner fishing gear and avoiding buying a bunch of stuff you don't need: th-cam.com/video/rhhBPNUXYis/w-d-xo.html Any medium-light spinning combo is perfect for most people and the brand isn't really that important as a beginner.
I just saw your videos on rods and reels, what kind of reel do you use on your ugly stik carbon? I’m a beginner fisher and I haven’t had any luck. I was hoping that a better rod and reel would make a difference
@@sancho783 I have a bunch of carbons of different powers/lengths, and they are paired with Pflueger Supremes, Pflueger President XTs, or Diawa Regal LTs. All of those are great and they are available from most outdoor retailers like FishUSA or Cabelas. Here are links to all three: alnk.to/3U0QgAN alnk.to/bPcZOih alnk.to/cwS59xt
Could be fin rot or damage from another fish biting it. It's common to see that on tails because they get worn down as the fish sweeps the nest with it, but less common to see a dorsal fin like that.
Do you guys eat the large mouth bass? I just see everyone releasing them on videos. I'm from Norhern EU and we don't have any bass here. How does it taste like compared to Northern Pike, Perch or Walleye?
Some people do. It's not as good as walleye or perch. I think pike is better than largemouth too. I have eaten them and they are decent, but just not one of my favorites.
I have a question. When I was trolling with my deep diving tail dancer crankbait, it continually when back to the surface while being trolled and wasn’t diving. Any tips?
My guess is that the bait just needs a slight tuning. If the line tie is slanted just a bit left or right, it will cause the bait to run off to the side and sometimes up and down instead of just diving down. A slight adjustment is probably all that you need.
@@dd1190 Yeah I've had that happen many times, even with lures right out of the package. Try bending the lure eye left or right just a TINY bit and making a cast. Pay attention to whether it dives down or slightly left/right. If it's way off, you may find that the lure spins or runs in all kinds of crazy directions. Just keep making small adjustments and you'll get it running straight.
@@dd1190 I know of them but haven't fished either one. The Chippewa Flowage and the Turtle-Flambeau are both places that I'd like to get to one of these days.
@@Blixtons There are many lures that have solid heads and soft tails/bodies. The Rapala Power Rattle is one that comes to mind, and quite a few swimbaits do well paired with hard jig heads. Then you could consider various underspins/spinnerbaits/jigs to be half hard and half soft too.
Maybe when I catch my first largemouth I’ll understand, but I just can’t comprehend why you’d target a fish you can’t do anything with. Aside from bycatch and release, or catching bait, I’ve never caught a fish I didn’t eat. Can somebody explain what is so great about LM bass to an inshore saltwater fisherman? (Seriously, not dogging)
Sometimes the thrill of fishing is understanding the fish well enough to convince it to bite. There's also the thrill of battling a fish on gear that gives the fish a fighting chance...human vs. fish. Personally, I like fishing because I find the fish beautiful and fascinating, and I enjoy the mystery of a tug on the line, not knowing exactly what it is or what it will do next. Largemouth bass happen to be the subject of the majority of fishing tournaments (at least in the U.S.), so they get a lot of attention.
Thanks for letting me know. I found that channel after they started posting all of those "Life of" videos with basically identical thumbnails to mine. The videos are different than mine but seem to be AI-generated narration with scavenged video content from the internet.
So basically the guy is watching his babies hungry as heck. And you drop food in front of him and rip him out of the water away form all his hard work. Lol.
I call total BS on the idea that fish can recognize lures. The studies were BS because you simply cannot read fish minds and they certainly aren't going to tell us anything. Fish are just fish and for all the study knows the bass that wouldn't bite again possibly ate other bait fish after being hooked and simply didn't want to eat again for awhile. There is no possible way for anyone to justify this claim.
Fair enough. I believe the study looked at captive largemouth bass where they could present lures to the fish multiple times and they knew what and when the fish were eating. So they just had to observe the fish's behavior toward a lure, no mind-reading involved.
This is why Nat is awesome. No cheesy intro or clips for watch time. Just straight up facts and great information.
