I think one of the major things I take away from all your demos are remove the corners first. So quick to get to manageable shape. Got my 19mm gouge with a fingernail grind.
A watch. No harm whatsoever. I never wear a ring when turning. Your wrist should be no where near your piece. I don't lean over my lathe like most, when parting off. Been turning over 40 years. My safety is my responsibility to take. All sorts of safety issues when turning. People not wearing face/dust masks, that's a killer. Enough said. What happened to you to make you feel that wearing a watch is dangerous? Please share your experience.
@@glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308 Nothing, I've just seen it said on other maker channels. I suppose a watch like yours with those little pins holding the strap in place would just pull off f it were caught, but a full metal bracelet might not. I'm saying this mainly for beginners, without your experience.
I keep messing up my tops. Got one for the metal work and one for woodturning. The amount of holes I've burnt into my tops is ridiculous. I've done a couple of candlesticks before, but I don't have the right inserts for those. th-cam.com/video/G1lNIqM3NfA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/GcHVIi793Yc/w-d-xo.html
Great demo, as always, with the added bonus of "if things go wrong, adapt."
Thanks Mark. That's why we don't edit or cut stuff out, so you get to see how to fix things etc.
That is some beautiful wood. You did it a great service.
Thank you John.
Turned out to be a beauty I love Laburnum the colours and grain patterns are amazing
It really did. Thanks
From what you started with to what you finished with it looks good . In fact it's unique.
Thanks Ian. I agree. Glad you liked it.
I think that's a smashing (pardon the punn :-) ) piece Glenn. I like it, lovely grain and it has a natural edge - a bonus. Good job.
Thanks Neil. We like it too. Yes a natural live edge. A real bonus.
Glenn and Liza that Laburnum has some lovely grain in it just a pity that bit flew off, still great job.
Thanks Alan. Even with that bit missing, it looks unique with a live edge.
Thanks!
Welcome to the channel Phil. Thank you so much for your support to the channel. Very appreciated. Glenn & Liza

Glad you've found the videos helpful David.
Nice work team. Anything I've seen made from laburnum is always neat looking. It's a really nice wood. Am I right in thinking it's poisonous ?
Don't eat it Jim and don't breathe the dust in. Look at me, I'm perfect and I've turned loads of laburnum.

I enjoyed that. Thank you., but isn't wearing a watch (or ring) whilst turning a huge no no? 🧡

Been meaning to ask, why the apron? Peter says can you turn some Candle Sticks?
