What a cracking job glen looks stunning. That little 6mm au is a proper wood hungry but delicate tool. Think that might need be next purchase although i may have to see if you can make it shorter for a midi lathe?? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

This comes in handy as I watched your swept back roughing gouge video and I wanted to give it a try. I got a high speed steel roughing gouge for a little over $20. The problem is it is too big for my wolverine or Tormek jigs so this will work great. I have my CBN wheels set up to use my Tormek jigs. What I learned here is to put the roughing gouge jig between the tool rest and the grinding wheel. Tormek has the jig on the other side of the tool rest and what I found for me is as I lift the handle to put the gouge to the wheel the spinning wheel pushed the gouge away and I got small facets on the edge. Maybe I was not doing it right but you made a lot of sense the way you did it . Thanks. I will give your method a try.

Nice one Glen looking great definitely gonna try these out wood and i have some resin might play with that. If i ever need it i have a 1000 grit diamond plate will that work for sharpening them or is it better with 600?? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🤔

I take it that a Spowl gouge is a cross between a spindle and a bowl gouge. It looks like a monster tool running at insane speeds in the hands of a madman. The results are, however, beautiful. For the record, I watch you on a laptop with external Bose speakers and have no problem with your sound.

True about gouges not coming from new sharp,I found a big difference after I sharpened my new bowl gouge...

All I can say is Great wok. I thought I saw Slight wisps of smoke, or steam, from the light when you stopped to check the inside depth. Also, your nerves are steadier than mine. Really sweet feeder. One thought, with the snow blowing, one can add some clear plastic like from a water bottle, around the middle part to keep some stashed and dry feed. With openings at the bottom of it to let it spill out and for when refilling.

could cut a bit of spongy stuff with thin 2 sided tape to get that sanding bit so your fingers were not to close to that spinning shadow and still have some small pressure.

Great idea. I went out and looked at my Laguna 18/36 lathe and the controls were on the spindle handle side like yours. I have not messed with it but guessing it is the same action as yours. I was putting my chuck on the spindle and it has holes and numbers that I really gave no mind too. They are both Vicmarc chucks the VM100 and VM120. Paying more attention there are square holes by the Allen key hole all the way around. Just need to build the arm with maybe a screw to hit the hole. You are right easier to see than having to look on the back side of the lathe every time. Thanks for the idea.
