    So where did the original grease go? And if you removed it how did you get most of it out?

    Hi A D, thank you for the video and sharing the information. Is there any local stores that carry the food grade gear oil? And does it matter what brand of the meat grinder is? Thank you in advance :)

    Hi the video is very helpful, is there after market grease you can buy,? I bought an old hobart slicer that runs really slow for 50.00 and that grease cost more than 3 times what I bought the slicer for, lol thanks!

      D B Thanks.
      Check if what you need is grease or oil by calling Hobart phone number ..
      If what you need is gear oil maybe you can buy it at autoparts cheaper.

      @@TheGggnarly You should never use autoparts grease or oil in a in food equipment. The stuff that comes from Hobart is food safe. Automotive grease and oil is not food safe.

    Hello AD. Thanks for the video.
    Do you happen to know also what a common issue may be if the hobart slicer makes humming noises? Its not bad but it does. Will this lube help?

    • @fixingstufff
      @fixingstufff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Seung k.
      If the humming is not coming from the motor, Yes it might need oil or grease,
      Call Hobart with your model number so they can tell you if your slicer needs grease or oil.

    I looked into getting this lube for my slicer and the small 35oz can is over 260$. Do you know of any cheaper equivalents? I would hate to spend 3 x what i paid for the mixer on this😅

    Newbies wanna be technicians IGNORE this video's info. It is wrong. Do not use this type of lubricant in the slicer, this is grease used sparingly for parts and axles in the friction areas for when assembling. It is not "oil". Use only food grade NSF specified oils in the gearboxes and do not overfill (never above horizontal axles) coming out of the housing.

      @alexsmith9328 that's what the technicians at Hobart Sent me base on the model.
      You just don't know.

      @@fixingstufff that sprocket goes inside the transmission below. The whole transmission and exposed sprocket is oiled by approximately 120 weight "FOOD GRADE OIL" WHICH splashes around to lubricate all sprockets friction points. Possibly the white grease they gave you looks like the grease you would fill inside the tube holding the vertical axle (sprocket below blade in top. You will notice that tube/housing has a little hole in the side you can fill it in. I dont think you will do any damage doing what you did i just know it is not recommended to mix oils (below in the transmission) and grease. These slicers are like donkeys very tolerant so you ll be ok. If you need help with specifics and how to know how much oil and type etc to put in let me know. I was not trying to be rude i just wanted to save some newbies. I am not affiliated with ho art corp i have just taking apart a few hundreds of them in the old days
