- Engine is stock except cam, victor jr intake, Holley 750cfm vacuum secondary carb, msd-6014 ignition controller, ZZP pushrods, pac-1218 valve springs, factory rocker arms with trunnion kit. Headers are from Speed Engineering 1 7/8” primary, 3” collectors. No mufflers for now. Engine was from a 2001 Silverado.
Car is still a work in progress. Video is from the first day it was fired.
How does it pull. I have a 5.3 and waiting in the ss2 to install in my 65 cutlass. Wonder if I should go bigger with a 6.0
I’m not sure yet. I got a trans in it and was able to load the car on a trailer when I sold my house because of divorce. Ended up having to pull the trans back out so I haven’t been able to see how it runs. I’m hoping by the end of this year or early next year I’ll be at the track with it.
I want to get the car running as is, but a future build I’d like to do is a 6.2 LS3 with a 4.8 crank in it. Motor trend has a good article on it
Sorry to answer your question a 5.3 would be a great starter/cruising engine but if you’re looking for more power I’d go with the 6.0 or 6.2
@@Jimmy-mt6ze yeah try to get back to in when you can. Too many abandon projects
@@Jimmy-mt6ze ok I’m going to see what I can find. Thanks
I got. 2004 gmc 5.3 was looking up cams this cam pop up for $189 on amazon
So you put that cam in with all stock parts or you upgrade springs pushrods etc ... how’s it run and held up
You should upgrade the valve springs at a minimum. I replaced my pushrods, lifters, timing chain and did the trunnions in the rocker arms just to be sure. If I remember correctly the extra parts weren't that expensive. Search amazon and ebay.
The car isnt finished as I still have to put a transmission together. I have been busy with work so no time. The car has been run maybe once a week in the past almost five months and I havent had any issues yet, for what it's worth. Only difference now is I put exhaust on it so it wouldnt bother my neighbors so much.
Do you have a part number for the springs? Thanks
Just buy a kit tf
