Keep in mind that when the new blood bowl was released, they said the same for the bulk of teams. Since then, all but one or two legacy teams have been remade. If thrvolayers keep buying, we may see vamps and the ither kegacy armies placed in other campaign books.
Fantastic video, man. I started a VC army a while ago but still in the painting phase, so this a good heads up. Need to check out your other videos, thanks for posting.
So maybe this is too late for you. But I just did a video where I talked through building a VC army for the Old World starting at 500 points and growing to 2000, like an escalation league - i tried to cover any available bundle and ways to save money as well. Maybe it would be useful for you? th-cam.com/video/fEKNelUaPH8/w-d-xo.html
So on the point of the”legacy” statement. Obviously the power creep hasn’t been a thing..yet and it doesn’t look to be a thing. The specialist studio is quite different than mainline. Vamps and dark elves are winning tournaments. All you’re missing out on are some new forgeworld minis and an arcane journal. Also wouldn’t it make sense that GW is going to do another book/edition down the line as they have said the project scope has changed. Also you can definitely still get the old skeletons. They are the same as the tomb kings.
GW continue to foolishly ignore my beloved Vampire Counts, guess I'll just buy more Mantic Undead to use in ToW. The free rules are fine, and can be extremely powerful, a Screamer List can wreck a lot of faces.
Let's be real GW is holding back the VC now so they can do a premium rollout later and milk the fanbase. VC were one of the most popular armies (source: trust me bro) back in the glory days of WHF and GW remembers this. I played a ton of WHF back in the day with my HE and VC, and even went to a few tournaments. I was really excited for New World until I saw one of my two armies would not be supported.
No. Vampires can pay points to become wizards, or take a vampire power to resurrect. They aren't allowed to cast spells while wear armor this edition (there is a magic armor that gets around this) though and they cannot be level 4 castors, that might be where the confusion comes from. So sorry it took me so long to answer your question.
Hot take. They dont update armies or give out new units, they release new armies from their legacy series and beyond. New editions come in the form of expansion content like Heresy.
? Not sure what you are trying to say here. Of the support armies released so far, all of them have gotten new units or characterse except; Bretonnian Footknights, Tomb King Dragon, Ogdruz Swampdigga, Dwarf Engineer Sappers, etc. Its hard to say how the Old World's future will look, since they are currently still launching the supported races. But I agree that it would be similar to the Horus Heresey - which is itself on its second edition.
@MTHMiniatures What I'm trying to infer is that they expand the game and move into new armies legacy armies and expansions like lustria parallel to Mars or Kislev and such and don't drop new models for the armies requiring an app/updates/warscrolls and the like. It avoids bloat and handles issues like the oversaturation of models say in 40k and sigmar that now has to be trimmed to everyone's hate due to spread across several ranges.
I mean... not really. Movement is less of an issue then you might think. You have magic to throw around that grants flight or reserve move to units, and a good number of vampire tropps come with reserve move anyway. Ghouls and dire wolves in particular.

I would love that! But I am not holding my breath.

This was really helpful. Thank you brother
Thank you for this through video, I'm actually in the process of building a full new VC army

Shame about GW leaving money on the table - but, I'm reasonably confident that will change albeit slowly.
I think further in the timeline legacy armies get their own journals.
Tow is a big disappointment to our group, we are staying with 6ed.

I’m still using 8th edition ghoul army, no vamps double necromancers ,reserve move, fast double attacks poison easy win

Great video :)

Is it true that Vampires can't resurrect their undead in this edition, requiring necromances to do so?
