"I try not to be too competitive..." LOL! Multiple ME is overpowered with the stacking and a NPE for opponents, especially outside of a tournament. I have run one with my VC and feel that is very good.
Ramsey is speaking from the experience of an International 40k Player, so he doesn't mean he's trying to take less competitive list - he's trying not to fall into the same experience as his 40k play where he had to travel frequently and commit huge chunks of his life to the game.
i have made a for fun list very similar to the list of james but without a mortis engine(2 master necro on foot and 2 banshee) but with 2 small necromancer extra with a wight bsb and with 2 spirit hosts and 2x corpse chart with upgrade WT (played behind all the 4 unit of zombie) + grave guard with5+regen you dont give a point at your opponent XD..... the problem is you struggle way more to make a big gap of points
Yeah sounds solid, I've very tempted to mess around with a grave guard bunker that holds as many Wight Lords as possible. Competitive? Not particularly, but a beefy unit for sure
@@CloseOrder in this list i have 1 bsb with crown of the damned (or the ptotection talisman if you ar not that greedy) on foot and for tank all the enemy heroes a wight lord on steed with accursed armor and charmed shield + lucky stone for t6 armor 2+ 5+regen and a possible 1 time ts5+ save in the grave guards...and have worked quite well for now 😄 if you will try your idea probably 4/5 vanilla wight in a unit with only stendard and no other command grup is the way to go
Great vid! I really dislike the mechanics in the VC book as they seem to have a feeling of inevitability about them, there is so little counter play bar spending BIG on items that are almost always not that good except vs VC. VC are defo top tier but I don't think they're like, overturned to the extreme... They are just not a fun army to play against when they lean into this one gimik and have a lot of feel bad factor to them. I thnk you can see they were never designed with the same care as the major armies. The competitive gaming scene is really cool, I was part of it for years, but I've veered away from this stuff a lot recently as its very flat and mechanical to me. Cool vid guys!
So cool to get professional Necromancer advise and experience!=D I read the list in the other comments and it was very enlightening! Especially about the unit sizes, that was something I was really struggling to get "right", or well, efficient.
Nice chap! VC are one of the most if not the most powerful army in tOW but winning 2 GT in a row requires competence and there’s nothing wrong in being competitive in a competitive environment!
It is cheap, plus having them in the front rank is nothing but benefit at that cost. Tempted to play around with a "deathstar" where half the front rank is just cheap cleaving blow characters
A level 2 with a spell Familiar on Mortis Engine knows 3 spells casting on +4 (if near both Engines) as a psuedo level 4. While a level 1 near 3 engines is similar (bar spells known), it's also got the opportunity cost of preventing you running multiple Banshee's/cutting down on the Terrorgheist count. That said, play around with it! I'd love to hear if you find success with a different combination of the good units - the games still in such an early state what seems to be the "best" might actually be not quite there yet!
@@CloseOrder it has that cost, but it brings the benefit of +3 movement to a small bubble nearby haha. Movement 7 zombies/graveguard and fly (12) vargheists seem amazing! Are you playing in the squarebased tournament on warhall btw?
Good vid! You’re a great interviewer and GJ to James for taking two wins.
Thank you very much! I'll be aiming to talk to top players about their army of choice whenever I can

James is an absolute gem, always relish any opportunity to spend time with him!
Really enjoyed this thanks :)
I think the 40pt tax on a wight character to be able to take grave guard as core is absolute filth 😂 defo feels like it should be kings only

They do, they're infinitely tall in terms of line of sight

Warhammer tournament scene is so toxic, I love the game but would never advise new players into it
You obviously don't attend events then - this is patently false.
