- Well, I shook the leaves out of my hair and squashed some cockroaches because LEGO has finally released Animal Crossing sets and they're freaking adorable. They're customisable to you can change them around to suit yourself and your villagers and I can't wait to mess with the rest of the sets. Imma gonna have to build a new island! I do think it's propaganda though - we all know Tom Nook doesn't let Isabelle out of Resident Services.

I like to think that whenever the player skips a week or 2 of playing Animal Crossing, Isabelle steps out of Town Hall or Resident Services to take a stroll across town and hang out with the villagers.

Although the scale is different, something about this does remind me somewhat of the vintage Fabuland sets :)
It is not just the characters' animal heads, but also the shapes of those rounded windows and doors.
I remember your custom ACNH build. It was so good! I also remember your incredibly delicate tree!
Now that Lego Animal Crossing is a reality, I too loved playing the game at one point to have fun, while escaping reality, cuz of the pandemic. Now that we have an official Isabelle minifigure, we also need the Doom Slayer from the Doom games as a minifigure, in order to re-enact the crossover event between Animal Crossing and DOOM Eternal!
Jokes aside, I really enjoyed watching that video, in which you've built an Animal Crossing-themed MOC back then. I really like the tree build in your MOC. It has much more detail, comparing it to the official build, seen in the sets. Lastly, I hope they'll release minifigures of the player character avatar in the next wave or two...

I think they’d connect fine, they use the same foundation plates. I don’t know if the scale equates though 🤔

I can remember the elephant watering can in AC which reminded me of the one used by Saitama in One Punch man.
the designs are so easy to replicate to build other houses for the characters that do not have houses.

It’s so cutie! But Ellie your custom one was a fair bit more detailed and your house was, I think, even cuter. They’re limited by the number of bricks to make it reasonably priced but still, I like what I like.
We were pocket camp players during lockdown (mostly coz we didn’t have a switch at that time - we used to be Xbox and PlayStation ppl), and you’ll be happy to know Isobelle gets out in that! I mean, she hangs out at your camp site. My sister in law keeps asking me to get Animal Crossing so we can play together (so the kids can play together, we claim!) but it’s still 70 dollariedoos and my child keeps wanting Pokemon games, and I’m still keen to play Zelda when I actually get game time 😅 I’m doing a TotK replay, I didn’t realise at a certain point in the main questTulin or Yunobo will follow you if you’re in their regions (not their avatars but THEM), and Tulin is adorable so I’m just racing around Hebra with my little snow bro in tow so Link’s not alone all the time because I’m Far Too Invested in these characters.
Anyway! It’s a cool start to the Animal crossing line! Bring on more Nintendo sets (please) 😅
Look, I love my custom build so much and I do think it’s better 🤫😜 but I’m so happy to have these sets. I find it a bit weird that they’re easier builds than I expected though, I dunno, I just assumed more adults were playing AC than kids were. I guess I’m just assuming. My daughter still plays regularly (she’s 15) and she’s stoked to see these sets. She doesn’t want to build them, just own them and move stuff around. I played exhaustively, did everything that you could and then got bored. But it holds so much nostalgia. If/when they bring out Zelda sets I will lose my mind. It’s so much pressure to make beautiful sets for BOTW and TOTK though. Hopefully they’ll make a range of building ability sets, not just for kids🤞🏻. And I hear you on having Link running round with buddies - I’ve yet to finish my first play through because I’m having too much fun taunting Yonobo each time I go to Death Mountain.
I don't think I've opened Pocket Camp since lockdown days, but yes, invokes a certain nostalgia for something that was sweet in those times. There's still stigma attached to gaming, particularly gaming that isn't R-rated, that it's a thing children do (because adults are apparently supposed to work and pay taxes and have no personal interests that don't involve violence? Bah). It seems like a wild assumption to make, so maybe the cute aspect contributes to the simplicity. Because grown ups can't have cute, either, apparently 🙄
Lego already does beautiful so well - look at Rivendell (don't look at its price tag 😬), and all the plant-based sets. They're totally ready to tackle Zelda. It's been around for so much longer than Animal Crossing too - they would *have* to know it'd be adults buying those. Look at how complicated the Ninjago cities are, and they *are* aimed at children. We'd need something at least as intricate as that. Only with minidolls, or we riot. And microdoll Koroks (like the Dreamz mushroom thingies!). And bigfig Gorons.
TotK is one of those games that you really want to take your time with isn't it? I floored through it the first time, because I didn't want to stumble on spoilers online and immersion in that story as it unfolded was *precious*. Now? I'm meandering and finding all those beautiful things they didn't have to add, but did, and it's surprising how cosy-game it can be, when there's still monsters lurking about. It's wonderful. I'm with you, if they do actually release BotW/TotK Lego, I'll lose my mind.

It depends what you like! I like Rosie’s little house in the Nook’s Cranny set. And I think I’ll like Kap’n and grumpy Marshall. They’re all delightful 😍
