Lyrics:
"Still gettin mine, in the" "ONE" "NINE" "NINE" "NINE"
sample cut and played in background
Yo, just relax, take it easy slow down
I had this, I had this friend of mine
Who just, you know, he was movin too fast, yaknawimsayin?
I told him to slow down, he said the sun don't chill
I said, I said still, I said still, you gotta
Just appreciate life, sit back, don't let it fly right past you
No matter what go on I'm still gettin mine
No matter the year, no matter the place, no matter the time
Check it, it's like I'm fightin for freedom, writin for freedom
These record company niggas I don't like when I see em
My ancestors, when I'm writin I see em, and talk wit em
Hopin in the promise land I can walk wit em
Shitted on, so many rappers it's like I'm in the stall wit em
Molest concepts, start rhythm, paid dues, bought wisdom
As legends fall my godmother answer heaven's call
Preachers' daughters get fucked in the reverand's hall
MC's reckless ?I ball? why y'all wanna go and do that?
Must've thought I was solo, the name just ain't the you-Ac
No mo', still together
Like in the ghetto photo wit one nigga in the chair
Holdin liquor in despair, gang signs in the air
I shine in spaces where time is just a glare
Hold the mic like a memory
Niggas say I'm nice wit metaphors but these are similes
Street ministry, my poetry's a penitentiary, track is visitation
Sentences is life, I'm like chief up in this demonstration
Still...
"Still gettin mine, in the" "ONE" "NINE" "NINE" "NINE"
sample cut and played in background 4X
in background during sample
Check it out, everyday ha yeah
This how we gon' do it for y'all
Common Sense, Sadat X puttin something in your ear
Something for you to grab
For the whole world, yaknowimsayin, but it ain't free
It's a fee, check it out
You squirm wit this coughin, whippin cough
Six days of madness and you might throw me off
On this great ball of stress that they call the earth
I'ma show y'all in rhyme just how much shit I been through
And all the place I went to, always played the low
It's like a competition, this mission here I'm tellin you
Slip up and rhyme-ass niggas here is fellin you
Crash courses, slow down you can't learn that quick
'cause I'm the dead eye, wit the red eye, from Chi to L-I
I thought y'all knew, every year I grew, I'm still growin
And in a year or two I hope my girl'll be showin
A male seed, praise God I name him Moses
I lead people I want him to, that's why I chose this
Now is the glass half-full or half-empty
Common, why they tempt me?
The king of the simply, bore in mic
I always stay on top 'cause I give niggas what they like
I know y'all hate that why I feel I owe y'all everyday
If y'all hear it a thousand times, it's gon' be the same way
The 'Dat-Father, go farther, why bother
Now I'm a peaceful man, I don't want no stress
You know I'm still...
"Still gettin mine, in the" "ONE" "NINE" "NINE" "NINE"
sample cut and played in background 3X
Yo yo, some get Range Rovers, some religion change-over
Angel on my main shoulder tellin me remain sober
Token nigga, game's over ain't no payola in freestyle
In battles, I'm warring/Warren like a G-Child
Searchin for the child in me, this style in me
This release is like the piece that's now in me
They tried to 'sassinate me god, like Martin on the bal-cony
Lyrically I put a hit on em, 'cause I'm the style-Nitty
Catch a flick at the Liquid Kitty
Tryin to get a chick to kick it wit me till the tilt
Told her my Chamber's like Wilt
Built wit her for a sec, let her know I had respect
Less than a hour she was givin me neck, yo I'm still gettin mine...
"Still gettin mine, in the" "ONE" "NINE" "NINE" "NINE"
sample cut and played in background 4X

Classic.....90's hip hop ....golden era.. WE spoiled...
The 90s...when people had real parties, real get togethers, danced and talked and flirted ..
@Christian Barrett Yeah, and everyone is watching those videos on TH-cam and enjoying the shit out of them.
@Christian Barrett the pendulum will swing back that way, even if it doesn’t reach it’s point of origin. Not there yet but I see less people stuck face down in their screens than even last year 🤷🏽♂️
Don't leave out the Ditch parties, LA SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASS OF 1997
Diy bass bins in the trunk lol
What ever helps you sleep at night, old man.
When this track drop, Common was within my top ten mcs of all time. He is still mad lyrical.
Fr! His last album, _A Beautiful Revolution Part II,_ is absolutely brilliant... he's still a beast!
Common was that guy
One of my all time favs him, nas, ghostface. I mean there are many but i feel common is legit underrated and underestimated for his lyricism music and deep soul

One of the hardest Hip-Hop tracks I’ve ever heard.
I was born in 1999, damn I'm privileged to enjoy this shit today.
Youngins don’t remember this was the main track on the first And1 mixtape. Knowledge and Understanding. Peace and Love.
Yes! This song and that And 1 tape was a wicked combination!
Hell Yeah!!
Was looking for this comment. That’s how I found this lol that skip tape, perfect combo.

This whole track is great... Sadat is such a standout on everything he’s featured on...
Edit: can’t help but think of Rafer Alston and that first And1 mixtape when I hear this!!!

This was ABSOLUTELY in my headphones freshman year walking across campus.
Yes! C/O ‘99 HS
But common was from Chicago, I liked the line I’m like chief up in this demonstration. Cheif was the guy you had to pay your dues to on the block, 10%.
Common and Hi-Tek from the Midwest, not NY.

"The Golden Era" of hip hop
Never say never. You never know. Social Media is not holy writ. Neither is the culture of negativity. It's not invincible it's flawed.
@@jameskent2925 It was a Hip Hop renaissance. The Golden Era started in 86 ended in 93.
A time where all rappers were just lyrically giving the vibes.

That's how I found out about this track bring back so memories
That was the first time I heard this song and 21 years later, I'm still listening to it, and still watching the mixtape.
I love this track.
A classic.
Real hip hop. Intelligent lyrics and lyricists at the top of their game 👍
Sadat X rapping and Alamo walking with a bop is such a mood
Ìmagine hearing this for the first time. I just did. Common always with the top tier rap.
Me too although I was a Big rawkus fan back then: talib, mos, co flow. Surprising but nice
Rap City when I first heard it. Went to FYE and copped the CD
The Soundbombing albums are one of the greatest catalogues in Hip-Hop!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Facts !! True HipHop compilation !!
Same the first one is ruined by the incessant Evil Dee shout-outs.......... Makes it a tough listen. SB2 is much better for that reason....... Love those OG Rawkus records though.... I have them all.
Still a Dope track, Hi-Tek went hard on that beat and all the hip hop artist in the video and Harold Hunter a Dope skater R.I.P.🔥🔥💯
I first heard this song in 2002 as a kid in Pietermaritzburg Kwazulu Natal Scottville South Africa. It changed my life smoking shitty weed with my Nigerian homie who got the SB2 album mailed to him by his partner in the States.
Seeing your comment in 2024 I hope you are doing well brother

Can't help but sing along to Sadat's verse.
¡REAL HIP HOP! 🙌🏻🎶🖤🔥
Real people do real things. Real beats is forever.
I bought this on vinyl while i was studying in Cambridge back 1999
I'm 50 now and when these cats come together and bless us all with spiritual ciphers it takes me back to my truth days when i needed there knowledge and support to help me with my life
This song brings me some of the most intense feelings of nostalgia.. About 14 years ago, myself and one of my best friends at the time (seems like another lifetime) used to play this song every single day. It was seriously some of the best days of my life.. I try not to listen to it as often as I want to, so that way I always encapsulate the feeling of that time in my life whenever I hear it.
Every time I hear this song I tear up because I miss those days
Song blew my mind when I was a child now I’m 27 and mind still blown 🔥🔥
Classic Hip Hop, man rap will never be the same
Rawkus Records was a hip hop gem.

First song off the And1 mixtape volume one... this song brings back so many memories...Really makes me sad wishing I could go back to that time in life..
Yesssssssssss man, shit gets me emotional , watched and 1 mixtape vol 1 yesterday morning and it literally took all my stress away for 20 str8 minutes. Never realized those tapes were only 18-20 mins long man, shit felt like forever as a kid, felt like the longest 20 mins as an adult too man. Thank you for this comment man.
@@AlanbongoJones no doubt my brotha I know exactly how you feel and you're more than welcome. I actually met the guys from the And1 mixtape back in the day and got a chance to hang out with them at their hotel. You can't tell you how much I miss those days my man. Nostalgic things can definitely take your stress away. Always look at some of your favorite TV theme songs and anything that makes you happy to help relieve stress. Common went Bananas on this joint!!!!
This is one of the best hip hop songs of all time hands down; beat, flow, lyrics, multiple legends on the mic at the same time it’s everything you could want
I keep these in my classical music section, I had to pull over on the highway the first time I heard this joint.
One of the illist tracks ever!! So underrated!!
Never realized That's Harold Hunter in the beginning till now. Rip Harold true NY Legend.
This is dope and takes me way back! One of my favorite concerts ever was Common and Talib at Amherst College in the early 2000s.
