    COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT ME
    Where are you from? Born & raised in NYC. I've never lived anywhere else.
    What teaching experience do you have? For the past 10 years, I've been a Higher Education English teacher at both a private language institute and a university. I've also taught English camps overseas with Non Profit Organizations. I also help Non Profit Organizations develop programs for free English camps and programs in developing countries.
    Why do you teach English? I teach English in order to help people change their lives. In 2007 I went on a humanitarian trip to Cambodia with my church and the people we worked with there begged us to teach them English so that they could get jobs that would get their families out of poverty. At the time, I was a Pre-med major in my university. After that trip, I decided that I wanted to use education to help get people out of poverty and help change their lives. One day I plan to open and help fund English schools in developing countries.
    Are you married? Do you have children? I'm a married mom. My husband's name is Jason and my son's name is Jacob.
    Do you speak any other languages? Aside from being fluent in English, I speak a moderate level of Spanish. I've learned some basic conversational skills in other languages thanks to my students :-)

    Hi Gabby. It’s a useful show. I get a one. “ I don’t see you holding up your end. Could you provide more examples about this phrase? “ Hold up (one’s) end.

    • @EnglishwithGabby
      @EnglishwithGabby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We say “hold up your end of the bargain/deal” and that means we haven’t done what we promised to do. You promised something but didn’t complete it.
      I walk the dog every day because my brother won’t hold up his end of the deal.

    I love your teaching. This is great for non-native English speakers to know because native speakers don’t speak English like in an English book or school. I greatly appreciate your time and knowledge that I can't learn in a book. ❤

    “you came across as being….” can as beijg be replaced for something else?

    • @EnglishwithGabby
      @EnglishwithGabby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maria! This expression means that this is how you are perceived by others or how you’re understood to be. So if you’re talking about politics and come across as being upset, that means that other people think you’re upset because of his you’re acting
