Is there any application available here to communicate with foreign friends...my big issues is this sort of I'm able to understand anything unfortunately I stuck in between during talking.
Thank you for uploading useful idioms. I'm studying English watching your videos everyday. Even though my lisening level is low at the moment, I believe that if I keep doing , it will getting better. (Jacob LEE from Korea)
"The old college try" and "take a chill pill" used to be more commonly used decades ago. Those particular phrases are not in use much anymore, but they are valid idioms in American English.
I have practiced to shadow your saying and repeat your saying. Native speaker’s pronunciation is very valuable to me, nonnative. Thanks a lot, miss. See you later.
“Under the radar” refers to a property of radar that makes ground based radar unable to sense very low flying objects due to what is called ground clutter. So a plane that doesn’t wish to be seen by radar flys very close to the ground almost hitting tree tops and the radar won’t show the plane on its screen.
Very nice Kayla...I enjoyed so much that way you teach those important idioms, I'm sure I'll be stuck around in this channel learning them, thanks a lot.
Actually, I know almost all of them, except for some or few :) but it's always fun to revise them again and again. So they stick to our memory. I'm here to learn and relearn new and old stuff. My favourite is under the radar :)
Thank you! This is so fun to run through these colloquialisms and give yourself a check. I had so much fun watching the video. Subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to watching more.
Its nice to see that there are so much similarities between german and english as a language.. But there are also some interresting idioms wich i didnt know. Greetings from austria.
Love the video, and most of the expressions. I say most, because some of them do change with time, especially in America where the language morphs faster than in most countries. I often date myself when I use certain expressions (I'm pushing 70 here), so I have to be cognizant of who I'm talking to! In addition, you have idioms that go with certain professional territories, for example, "let's take it offline", or "let me circle back". I'm sure people can think of many more. Anyway, great video!
Hi Kayla, the expression " the long face" comes from the Bible. In Genesis 4: 5,6 "Caïn grew hot with anger and his countenance began to fall " in french it was translated as follow : " his face became longer " (this is not the best Translation but you get the point. And yes, you are right this is because when we are angry or sad it looks like our face has grown longer.
