Apply for or to a university?

They’re both okay in different contexts but for universities it’s typically TO
Apply to is typically used to describe WHERE you are applying
      Examples:
I’m applying to 12 universities in the U.S.A.
      She applied to Harvard University.
Apply for is typically used for things you want to obtain
She applied for a scholarship at Harvard University.
Tommy applied for the job at Google.
