    Much appreciated! Frankly, I really struggle with my Xcam Sabre (which is supposed to be quite good for my lightweight mirrorless camera), but the swaying is still caused by my "stabilizing" thumb and forefingers on the column! Either too much or too little pressure - rarely just right. Drives me crazy and after months of practice; to me, how you touch the column is the almost unobtainable golden paragon, after you learn to walk and run. I have just about given up. So....I got a Zhiyun Crane-M 3-axis jobby and it is the cats pajamas, except for ONE THING: up and down motion. Grrrrr. I guess each approach to equipment has its challenges. THANKS as always for posting!
    Oh, ironically, the up and down on any of these is cured by RIDING the bike rather than running beside it - Haha

      Is that good or bad?! As long as the footage comes out looking great, it should not matter.

      I don't know, I'm not saying your wrong, just something I noticed. Just saw the official training video and it says to stand up straight and not bend your knees while walking. Also suggests keeping four fingers on the pole rather than two. I think a lot of their methods are based more on being safe and not putting strain on your body, rather than getting the perfect shot.
      I guess if you're happy with the shots that's all that matters.

    And also, the shakiness of the footage is determined by the lens you are using, I sometimes find it difficult to stabilize a lens that is more than 50 mm , however if I use a lens that has wider angle or less than 50 mm, the footages will look a lot smoother.

    Quick question. Have you used a Zhiyun Crane? If so, how would you compare it to a Glidecam? It's got to the point now where you can get a gimbal crane for about the same price as a Glidecam, so I'm wondering which would be a better investment? I like the idea of a motorized gimbal, but I've never used one and it's a lot of money to spend on something I've never used.
    Thanks

    Balancing the camera doesn't seem to be an easy process. Got my Laing stabilizer 2-3 weeks ago and stil cannot get it to run smooth. It sways. I keep checking my balance and the drop thing. All seems to be in complete balance. I doulbe check continously and still cannot get it to stop swaying! I play with milimeters adjustments. Still no luck! Been watching all kind of youtube videos how to balance a glidecam. No luck!!!

    • @specialK33616
      @specialK33616 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the same problem and i figured it out after an hr or two. what i did is when u try to balance the glidecam make sure that the weights are appropriate first should be a 2- 2.5 second drop from 90 degrees. then after u find the correct weight, balance the micro adjustments so the camera doesnt move and is stable when there is no motion at all.the next step is to adjust the height of the base weights, which is causing your swaying issue during movement. Every time you touch the base make sure to micro adjust. this took me a while to figure out the height of the rod so be patient.

    • @MikeSantis
      @MikeSantis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kaelazab thanks. I have tried all this and the height adjusting by milimeters. Micro adjustments everywhere. Lots of patient. Still...

      @specialK33616 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Santis one thing I forgot to mention is the have the bal ance and the camera at a + shape so if ur weights face east to west ur camera should be north to south, hope it might help

    • @MikeSantis
      @MikeSantis 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kaelazab thanks again. But I must say that this is not possible with my glidecam. Try to find and see on youtube how a Laing H5 looks like.
