I love your use of colour and your ideas around fairies, old building stones and mysterious Scottish landscapes. It resonates with me. Such an interesting vlog. Thank q
I'm a Canadian and so glad you discovered inuit art! Woodland style, indigenous art is very famous also. Morrisseau is most famous of the style. Glad you were enjoying life slowly. Learning fast doesn't always mean done richly or deeply
Oh my gosh Morrisseau's style is AMAZING! Thank you for the inspiration!! I had a gut feeling that the prints I found were indigenous from the Americas and was so surprised to see them in a second-hand shop all the way in the middle of nowhere, Scotland 😅 I'm sure both Morrisseau and Pudlat will end up in a future moodboard of mine someday 🤣❤️
Emily Carr is another artist, even an art school named after her, on west coast. Talk about deciding to experience art in the slow way, her story is fascinating. The Group of Seven would be our most famous artists. Enjoy the world of art as you live
Scotland is so beautiful. I took a lot of pictures of stone and rock. It amazes me the colors of lichen and moss on stone. Fabulous , eh? thanks for taking us along.
This was a really fun week. I loved the mill tour. I like your color choices very much. Tea is my beverage of choice, so I'm glad you're enjoying it, too. Thanks again for sharing your adventures. I'm still excited for your journey.
Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️ I've always liked tea, but somehow this experience made me appreciate it SO much more. I think another part of it is that my dorm didn't have great heating, so I often also used it to keep myself warm 🤣❤️
I loooove this whole Scotland adventure! It hurts my little European heart to hear you speak about how stressful New York is compared to Scotland. Watching your old videos i always used to think about how insanely busy you were compared to my own life (Art history student in Netherlands and now Belgium). Fast-pace New York looks and sounds absolutely horrible to me, and I wonder how you will feel about it when you return to Amerika after this trip. Take it easy! Life is long (as long as you don't die from stress hahaha), and thank you for always teaching and inspiring us through these videos 🥰
Ethereal mystical Scotland! Land of the shaded faeries 🧚. I was so delighted to see that you’d posted a video. Being taken along on your journey is such a joy. World travel most assuredly affects our creativity. All the places you’ve been blessed enough to visit will color your life aesthetic. Looking forward to your next one. I’ll likely rewatch this one because I’ve seen all the rest. Thanks for sharing.
I think the difference is thinking fast and slow and the ability to switch is super useful to learn. First time viewer I ❤ the begining outfit super cardigan.
Gosh, what a place! I am a weaver, so it is great to see the mill tour and the weave workshop at your school. What wonderful spaces. Your artwork is very beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing it all.
You are so fun and very talented. I love how upbeat you always are and how comfortable you are in your own skin. I can really see you doing great things. It has always been on my bucket list to visit Scotland. So I will visit it with you. Thanks for sharing.
I liked the cardigan you bought in Serbia AND the tartan you bought at the Scottish mill-both so different and both so striking. And how interesting to find the Inuit art creature at the scrap shop in Scotland!
So many wonderful adventures.. Last week's post had me wondering how your colors and style had changed. Now I see the calmness, no longer NY. Is your Serbia sweater felted? Love the design.
I love your vlogs. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us, and also thank you for touching on the pace difference between America/NYC and Scotland. I lived in London for a year, and though the pacing wasn't super slowed down, the headspace and priorities were so, so different. Like, having a beer during a lunch break was completely normal, but when I mentioned this to an American professor, he was clearly knocked sideways by this lol I hope you're doing well and look forward to anything and everything you're sharing with us
wow the tartan weaving was so amazing. i find it super fascinating how each tartan is unique to a different clan and they all look quite similar but none are the same.
love the caribou! Lucky you to be immersed in art! If I could start again, this would definitely would have been my journey. Thank you for sharing your portfolio. A million and one ideas!
Do you know how many times I tried to double tap to heart the swatches you made 😂 loving your mark making and collaging❤ thanks for sharing your creative adventures
The mill tour was fantastic. A few years before it closed, I was able to tour the Woolrich wool Mill here in Pennsylvania, your video brought back memories. Yes amazing how they inspected and fixed weaving errors all by hand.
That must have been AMAZING! I really hope to find some more textile places to explore in the US, but it's disheartening to see how much has closed over time.
I teared up when i saw all the tartans and then again when I saw the walls of warp cones colors, so so cool you are there learning at a slower pace than NYC. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Loving this. I look at Scotland and see greens and sages and purples and greys, you see Disney castles. Shows how everyone wares different things and works in different ways. Just looking at the mill to book a tour Monday to Thursday only
Just love your channel, its so uplifting and fun and all that you create is lovely and you always make the best of things, thank you for sharing its really brightened my day thank you
Oh Andrea what a delight! Weaving the paper, color choices, That last shiny painted yarn was perfect! Soft colors in the weathered stone,, the rainy skies, lichens, May I suggest adding some close ups to your photo inspiration?
As ever, Andrea, this was a lovely video. Thank you for sharing your work and thoughts. And you do look calmer and more centered than when you’re in NY. 😊 I really like the direction you’re going with your project. That one yarn you found that’s sort of a gradient in fairy colors? That might be fun in that pattern
Another fun and really interesting video. Love what you're doing in the sketchbook, how you narrowed in on one palette then expanded on that. And the yarn you "created" and used in the computer program to generate a (computer) weaving mirrors the 3 dimensional aspect of some of your experiments in your sketchbook. Loved loved loved your Serbian sweater/coat! Is your family of Serbian background (you said your mother sent you a care package from there)? I googled Serbian weaving and found some beautiful examples. Nice jacket she sent you with those bright pink accents! Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you so much!! ❤️ Yes, my family is Serbian! I have a few videos on my channel about visiting Serbia and also another video about making an entire textile collection inspired by Serbian weaving, if you want to check those out 🥹💕
Inspireing video am going to experiment with watercolors now. Am wondering if you have scholarships or enuf money to attend all these schools and eat out... I just need to have more hope can grow in playing with fibers and colors, designs. Wonder if a tartan made with natural colors and dyes (just looked up and found Ardalanish on Isle of Mull). Thanks for ideas.
Ooooooh, thank you SO much!! Unfortunately my school semester has ended so they won't appear in my project, but I'm definitely going to look into his works for my own research 🥹💕
14:29 wait what…. Let’s talk about the color piece behind you Ok….. I keep seeing orange and all its various shades in your videos and collectings…… I’m a big fan of the color (so attracting and at times a startling color) and will be watching to see where it pops up again…
The way you abuse your brushes by using them to stir paint in a square container it is no wonder you needed more. You should treat you brushes with more respect and perhaps use the other stick end as a stir stick.
Mad in love of your journals. What a sense of design, colour and you are so talented. Waiting for your videos as always. Thank 😊❤
That means so, so much to me! Thank you!! 🥹💕

Going to Scotland was definitely a much-needed (and intentional) break from NYC 🥲Thank you for your kindness ❤️❤️❤️
I cant wait to see more from your semester abroad. your videos always give me such cozy lovely vibes
That means a lot to me, thank you!! 🥹💕

Thank you SO much 🥺❤️ I'm glad I embraced the Scottish theme for my project, even though I was really hesitant at first.
Some of Scotland is mystical. But most of its just run down with drug users/dealers 😅
Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you. You’re so inspirational!
Absolutely love this! I would have done what you are doing 40 years ago had I known about it!
I think the difference is thinking fast and slow and the ability to switch is super useful to learn. First time viewer I ❤ the begining outfit super cardigan.

So many wonderful adventures.. Last week's post had me wondering how your colors and style had changed. Now I see the calmness, no longer NY. Is your Serbia sweater felted? Love the design.
Thank you! ❤️ The calmness has been much needed. Also, the Serbian sweater is colorwork knitting with embroidery 😃

That huge wall of weaving yarns made me swoon. ❤
It made me swoon literally every time I walked into the room 🤣❤️🥹
Love that Tartan Mill tour and the one you picked out. Just what you need in Scotland. You are making great progress. 😊
Thank you 🥹💕🥹💕🥹💕

I just discovered your channel and having fun watching your progress as a fiber arts student. I loved seeing the trip to Locharron Mill
Do you know how many times I tried to double tap to heart the swatches you made 😂 loving your mark making and collaging❤ thanks for sharing your creative adventures
Watching your creative process is really inspiring!! :)
Your sketchbook has inspired me to keep an art journal this year, thanks!
The first cardigan you had on looked so cozy and snuggly. The design you were working on at the end looks really good.
Thank you so much 🥹💕

I totally agree, I adore how differently everyone sees the world! 🥹💕
Great to see you making the most of your time here in Scotland 🏴🩵🤍👋
As a fellow crafty person that regularly tries to take pictures of my outfits, I resonate with your struggle to find good angle/lighting ❤️🧶🙃
Well I would love to see a woven fabric with a bridgey Design!
Enjoying you taking us on this trip. See you next time.
Thank you so much for joining me! 🥹💕
❤ wow this cardigan
Thanks for taking us along with you to the weaving mill.
I like how your colors stay nice and clear
I find mud rather repellant...especially when its paint

Thank you, Andrea, for an excellent antidote to a dreary January day. So many lovely colours and concepts 🙂

Looooove the stripe pattern and it’s inspo
Thank you!! 🥹💕
Love that sweater-where did you get it?!
Glorious isn't it? One of our local clubs has a length going through the looms this past week. Glorious mill :) I love weaving tartan !
Ooooh, that is exciting!! I'm so, so glad I had the chance to go to the mill 🥹💕
The paper towel rings look like the alien language from Arrival

Of course! 🥰🥰🥰 And thank you!

For fairytale inspiration, read George MacDonald. He was born in Huntly in northern Scotland in 1824.

You are just too cute.
it seems you are doing more lectures than hands on work. must be frusrating

Lol if you think its a chill pace here in Scotland you should go chill out in Cape Town, if you really want a chill slow life.
