His comment about not wanting to listen to his trainer pretty much tells you all you need to know about Rudy Gay when he was in the league.
The Kings went 9-4 against the best the league had (the Grizzlies game was stolen from them). They were legit and showing they were finally competitive. Then Boogie got viral meningitis, sat 10 games (they lost most of them of course) then the weasel Vivek fired Malone right as Boogie came back, before they could get back to racking wins. It was a hatchet job by Vivek. He wanted the Kings to lose those seasons ; noone knows why.
crazy that two Dean Smith players ended up having tarnished reputations. No one ever spoke a bad word about Dean Smith, George Karl tho.....and LArry Brown got some snake stories about him too.
Being from Sacramento and Kings fan, the dysfunction came from the immaturity of Cousins and Tyrese Evans immaturity and not working out. Those two were suppose to be the future. Tyreke was a beast as the ROY. He even gave Kobe a run a few games.
I his prime between Sac and New Orleans, Cousins was a 28-12-5 center who also got blocks and steals at a high rate (not lockdown, but made plays). He was a behavioral problem in KY too, tho. So Sac was the worst possible situation for him to get drafted into at 19. He peaked in NO, and was legendary next to AD, then injuries.
Rudy them stats was wrong pure CAP!!!! and I knew it from I heard 7 and 6. I knew one of those two numbers had to be assist and you ain't EVER in your life of the NBA had over 4 APG. Also never in your career had 22 PPG even if rounding up. Keeping it 100%, Rudy is a player with unlimited skill that didn't live up to his full potential. This guy could shoot over anyone, dunk on anyone, had handles, had the tools to be a great defender. The expectation of Rudy is what Paul George became.
As a lifelong Kings fan and a Sacramento native, sad to say with everything he said is true. 00:36 - that is straight cap. Gay never put up those numbers in Sacramento. His assist numbers were never that high. 7:06 - you were 11-13 when Malone was let go. Maybe compared to Malone being 28-54 the two previous seasons, 11-13 seemed like they were "winning?"
They were winning at the start of that season.
@@MrBendacorna They got off to a 5-1 start and ended up 11-13 when he got fired. I do agree with Gay that he shouldn't have been fired given that's still a major improvement over what they were doing the previous two seasons. Must have been something else going on to get him fired.
He averaged 21-6-4 at the start of his prime with the kings. He was 2 assists off, it's not the end of the world lol
@@jasons6604 Gay is trying to pass himself off as being a better all-around player than he actually was. And he only came close to that stat line one time. The reality is Gay was a good player who put up a lot of empty stats that had little impact on winning.
Every plater speaks poorly of George Karl.
This podcast got it 🔥 2k my career don’t hit the same not seeing ya nomore 😤
Being from Sacramento and Kings fan, the dysfunction came from the immaturity of Cousins and Tyrese Evans immaturity and not working out. Those two were suppose to be the future. Tyreke was a beast as the ROY. He even gave Kobe a run a few games.
Boogie used to have the funniest post game interviews when he was on the Kings 😂
RUDY & MELO ARE BASICALLY THE SAME DUDE
Rudy is hilarious
Sacramento still has love for Rudy
Low key, these microphones are great
I his prime between Sac and New Orleans, Cousins was a 28-12-5 center who also got blocks and steals at a high rate (not lockdown, but made plays).
You on the bench averaging 22 is crazy 😂😂😂😂
The great Rudini... Sac always appreciates Rudy those years were a mess
Rudy was crazy on 2k
I loved to pick that kings team on 2k Rudy was a bucket
As a lifelong Kings fan and a Sacramento native, sad to say with everything he said is true. We were caught in between a dilemma of is this city worth a basketball team or is this city to even more live in. A very sad story happened obviously we all know when the Lakers and Kings played in the 2002 Western Conference final ever since then has been so sad and just down in Sacramento has been the laughing stock of the NBA for many years.. 2022 2023 season turned out great let’s hope it can make it turn for the better as time goes
💜💜 light the beam 💜💜
On 2K Rudy Gay was always cookin
Rember Kevin Love Roasting Rudu saying : Happy Birthday! Rudy! , Gay
