I have often dreamed, of a far off place Where a hero's welcome, would be waiting for me Where the crowds will cheer, when they see my face And a voice keeps saying, this is where I'm meant to be I'll be there someday, I can go the distance I will find my way, if I can be strong I know ev'ry mile, will be worth my while When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you And a thousand years, would be worth the wait It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through And I won't look back, I can go the distance And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part For a hero's strength is measured by his heart Like a shooting star, I will go the distance I will search the world, I will face it's harms I don't care how far, I can go the distance Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms I will search the world, I will face it's harms Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms
I have often dreamed of a far off place Where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be I will find my way, I can go the distance I'll be there someday if I can be strong I know every mile will be worth my while I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong I am on my way - I can go the distance! I don't care how far - Somehow I'll be strong I know every mile will be worth my while I would go most anywhere to find where I belong
To those who are saying that it is rushed: this was taken from her disney medley songs in one of her live concerts. That's the reason why it is not complete. The complete medley: go the distance, you'll be in my heart and reflection.
I remember the day I climbed Mount Ararat. I was alone with a few tanks of oxygen left, hungry & cold. For you who don’t know, Mt. Ararat is the Armenian mountain where the book of genesis says Noah’s Ark landed. I couldn’t do the last ~650 feet until I put on this song. I climbed & climbed with numb legs, a weak heart, out of breathe but I held on & there standing near the top of the world I felt my journey was complete. I took a glass bottle & filled it with snow from my summit & I have used a bit of that water to baptize all 3 of my children. My worst enemy was always myself but I always believed that inside me, somewhere anyway…..was great glory & a REAL hero…I planted that Armenian flag & I looked down upon the world & I knew that the mountain wouldn’t conquer me. To ALL those who are scared & feel alone, you are not! We ALL suffer & feel off…. Embrace the hardships as hard as it can be because it defines you & it turns iron into steel….God Bless you ALL.
How could someone compare Lea to Regine? Duh, she's Lea Salonga for pete's sake! It doesn't mean you're a bad singer if you didn't belt a song, you're a bad singer if you lack of emotion but Lea gave justice to this song, she didn't lack in emotion. She's great.
Lea sings the way Disney's characters sings, emphasizing the real meaning of songs. While others only sings to show themselves off. Lol funny those rats who says Lea is lame, you obviously know nothing about music.

Lea's version bespoke of grit, determination, resilience and hope and all broiled into one good story telling put in a song. Her tempo and tone is worth re-telling. No belting or impressive high notes. Just helluva of good storytelling, even to this date, 12/03/2020, still worth listening to.
Three years later, still phenomenal. No other female singer comes close when it comes to this song, although I probably haven't heard all renditions. :)
Just want to share, but when I was doing my Math assignment and listening to this with my earphones at the same time, I didn't realize that I fell asleep. So I don't know if it's the cause of Math or Lea Salonga's angelic voice.
For those thinking that she sang it in mediocrity. Not really. You rarely can find a singer who can really pronounce each vowels and consonants in such crystal clear way. Not only that, but, it is done in calm "version". But, still, perfect 👌 in pitch. In music, the notes are the sound waves amplifier of emotions. It delivers emotions and personalities to the hearer even if you aren't directly on hearing her in person. Every notes a person can vocally phonate has like hundreds to thousands way it can be done in vocal qualities. Proper selection of it is a must for a true prodigy in singing in compliance to how the singer wanted the song to be delivered to the audience. -A musical genius and a true vocal prodigy will completely understand what I mean

For me, Lea did a stellar job. she's one of the Philippines' pride. But I give this song to Regine. Regine's voice and version fit best in this song because of the theme. It's going the distance, this there has to be that climactic part just like that of Regine's. Lea did good but Regine snatched wigs in her version. She put a mark and owned the song. Just my 2 cents.
I prefer lea's version no hate here but i like this version coz she did not belted out the song but gave it a soft and tender rendition but i still love regine ...

Would be worth the wait

Set speed to x0.75 for original tempo
@yanyanredulla thats veyr unfair knowing that Regine represents the pop & Lea obviously represents the theatre world to comapre them both is dumb though they obviously have different take on this song and have different style. Their both great @ their genre......it will be a long time till the next Regine & Lea would come along or even be born its a matter of preference ....
I know I'm biased. It's just that i love their powerful vocal TOO much and they happened to be from the same country. No offense to any other country!!
can there be a karaoke version of this
