I graduated in 1991. It was really isolated. I remember the fish and chip van which came every Friday night. Uncle Tom is his name, if I remember correctly. It was a most memorable part of my life; a real eye-opener
I graduated in 1991 and I must say the place looks grim now. It was a cosy little campus once. Just seen some videos that show that Hawthorns has been demolished and turned into a housing estate! Don't they need students any more?
I graduated in 1996, the Science Park was only 2 buildings, no general entrance, no medical school. No hotel. My mum had to sleep in a B&B in Newcastle-under-Lyme when she came to visit. And only 3000 students. Still very remote....the problem is the area, Stoke is so depressing. Students never ventured this far out. No close supermarkets either. I cannot believe the halls have not been refurbished or that there is no new library, this is 2020! Check out Birmingham University's new library!
What do you mean by Stoke being depressing? I'm thinking of going to this university and would appreciate an honest opinion as I haven't got the chance to visit the area due to Covid-19.

The library is pretty good. I visited pre-pandemic.
