Hello , hola!!! Robert it is been so many years already that I’ve seen you clear the field little by little and every time is a pleasure to see you how you are taking control of your farm and getting rid of the wisteria!! I like those fires 🔥
I use to work for the US Forest Service in my younger days. I started out on the survey crew, but once I married the crew boss they said I couldn't work in that department anymore. They stuck me in fire. I was terrified of fire, but I was told that I would go on controlled burns whether I liked it or not. Initially I got to stand there and make observations and write down things like air temperature, wind speed and direction, flame length, etc for my boss (because I wasn't on a fire crew, but I was working in fuels). So, being able to stand there and just watch how things burned, like flashy fuels (the ones that burn hot and fast and then they're out), how when fire starts to burn up the bark on trees they usually just burn up a ways and then go out, how wind speed intensifies the burning, etc I started not to fear fire as much. You always have a healthy respect for fire, but your not scared out of your mind about it. I also use to burn a lot of brush piles while in the Forest Service too. You learn more about fire when doing that, like a compact pile that doesn't have a bunch of air pockets burns better than a sloppily stacked pile, and that as a pile burns the center out leaving a ring of unburnt twigs and branches you keep pushing the edges in, like you've learned to do. We use to call it chunking the pile. You're learning all these things too, I see. Isn't it amazing how much noise a fire can make, not just the popping, but the rush of wind sound it makes? You light a bunch of piles at the same time you really get a lot of that rushing sound! Anyway, musings from a former fire worker. You ever notice that after burning you and your clothes smell like smoke? You take a shower and you still smell the smoke. I've come to the conclusion that your hair absorbs the smell and doesn't go away (for awhile) even after showering 😀.
Nothing more satisfing than burning unwanted trees and stumps, and getting warm by the fire. We had a old camp coffee pot and had coffee while we tended to the fire. Good kid days
cheering you on Robert as went for taking down the privet!! WTG, sad that that one oak tree is dead, but made a nice 3rd tree burn. Best time to clear more land is during the winter months when all that bloody westeria is dormant and you can burn and get more of it out of the ground, same for that Privet as well. Great Job Robert! Well done, and thank you for the video.
Wow, you certainly accomplished a lot in one day. Great progress on continuing your relentlessness on all the invasives!! You must have been smoked yourself by the looks of the burn timeframe. Beautiful ending shots of the fires at night. Love the music too and the fade out ending. Excellence as always from you, Robert, at The Old Byrd Farm!!! Enjoyed!!! ❣️❣️👍👍
When you were pushing that first tree over, it sounded brittle & I expected it to snap. So I was surprised to see it actually came up out of the ground! Any controlled snap-crackle-pop is a very fine sound!
My stepdad would often burn in our yard and go inside and leave it burn. He would fall asleep and we would have to put it out before it got into the neighbors. We would tell him to let the firemen know he was going to do it.
Cool to see someone else fire clearing their land. My enemies are yaupon and Chinese tallow. It was way way too dry to burn for months here in east Texas this summer. But back in business now. Take care.
Love the 3-fires photography at the end. Also was able to see you clearing more land and what was cleared. This just may be one of your better video's.👍👍👍
Hello, and I can't believe that tree is still standing it's a die hard it's going to fight to the very end .but the field looks very good. Such a beautiful place 😍 Thank you for sharing with us take care 😊
It’s a good day to burn wisteria n getting those roots. I do get a little tickled at you as it doesn’t take much to make you happy. Like you said, one day all that will be for farming. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🐶🐶
Nice Robert, there is nothing like an OBF fire but in triplicate wow even better. Can't wait to see the aftermath. I hope 2024 is a great year for you.
Like a year ago, you talked about "the mother tree of wisteria" that is on the neighbours land a few feet from you land. You said then that you would ask permission to take it down. How is that going? Are you taking it down? Burning this wisteria is so satisfying to watch, especially when you see the land transforming and looking better each time. Thank you for sharing Robert!
great job getting the privet out, I was surprised that you got the first one down. that was great 3 piles of 🔥 burning trees ! you have to be careful around dead trees from falling limbs! those privets are so big! with deep roots! so nice to burn out the wisteria! I cannot wait for the investigation of the mound. we have some of the”w” in our garden, each year I have to cut it way back! and I live in the NE with cold winters! it still grows like mad!
I am sorry for my not keeping up to date on yours and Blue and a additional one for Blue as a bestie friend. I have been head over teacups canning. Differently pushing myself at 80yo. Tell Blue and his sidekick hello. ❤️❤️👀👀👏🤟🥰from Texas USA.
Well robert it at to be done that's one way of dealing with the the plant called nuisance ( wisteria) a little story about that plant one of my neighbours was thinking of getting a similar wisteria plant and till I show him your channel all the best and a happy new year 2024 ,Andrew south wales uk 👍 👌 👏 😀 🇬🇧
Don't know if this helps or not, but.....when I take trees down out back, I coat the tops of the piles with motor oil. That way, I can direct the fire where I want it to go. Keeps the fire hot but not combustible. Blessings from Michigan.
HappyNewYear!!! I thought i could smell the woodsmoke. Lovely fires. Be careful out there. Like the new dress code...vest with nice shirt. Carry on Robert, carry on!
They are expensive but a good brush grapple for that loader is what you need so you can pick things up and carry it to the burn pile. Also if that tractor is hydrostat drive it won't tolerate a lot of abuse. They are very expensive to repair. Instead use that repair money and hire someone for a few hours to do the major cleanup then you can tidy up the rest.
Would you believe I'm actually smelling smoke, right now?😐 I'm in my room, and nothing should be smelling of smoke! Though I was burning candles, earlier ..🤔
Where's your flame thrower? Gone with Aaron? Happy New Year wishes for you, Robert. I got sick of seeing all that mess in the old house so I took a holiday from seeing the videos completely through. Pleased for a change, being an outdoor girl and pleased to see you getting at that wisteria with a vengeance. 🎇👍🍻

Robert, watching you clear your land is so satisfying. It was such a mess! You have done an amazing job cleaning things up.
Thanks so much
This calls for at least a follow-up episode. Not to mention future episodes. That is going to be a beautiful property someday. 👍
I love that you are taking g out the bad and putting in the good, it's gonna be beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Idk if people that haven’t watched from the beginning can appreciate this as much as some of us!
I don’t think they can but we were here from the beginning and we know 🤭😄
Enjoyed. Pull out a chair and sit by the fire and have a glass of tea. Love seeing Blue and Miss Annie.
Good to see Annie and Blue supervising.
I love watching the burn videos!
Clearing the land must be so satisfying for you
I really like the hat and vest, your really making a name for yourself out there as the next owner of the old bird farm. Mr. Archie..
Imagine how nice it will be when you will be able to look at the entire lot, all the way to the end from a rocking chair on the porch.
As an old woman confined to her home, sometimes I just like to listen to you talk. I definitely like your hat. 😊
Love it when you are clearing and cleaning the land that’s a beautiful place you have ❤
Good job Robert!👍. one bite is two at a time.😊

Looks great!

I was definitely smoked!
Such a lot of work done in a small amount of time.👏👏🥰
I love watching the progress you're making on the farm. You're doing a great job, Robert. I look forward to see what it looks like when it's all done.
Looking so good!👍🥂🦌💕from KY.
So satisfying watching your videos, I keep reflecting back upon the earlier ones....amazing transformation Robert!
Three trees a burning. The past, the present, and the future. LOL
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you Robert.
A scoop of that wood ash will be good for your tomatoes when you plant this year 😊
Great job Robert. Bite by bite. You are getting it done. Nothing better than clearing and burning. Such a great improvement. You are the man
Great job Sir Robert on more land clearing.
Slow, but steady progress. Great job! You have come such a long way.
It's going good so far, I know the dogs sure got a work out, their pretty good helpers...😅...please be careful Robert ❤
When you were pushing that first tree over, it sounded brittle & I expected it to snap. So I was surprised to see it actually came up out of the ground! Any controlled snap-crackle-pop is a very fine sound!
It's looking great around the OBF!! Great job, Robert!!
So great that you're making so much progress with the farm. I have been with you from the beginning and love everything you've done. CRACK ON!😃😃😃
My stepdad would often burn in our yard and go inside and leave it burn. He would fall asleep and we would have to put it out before it got into the neighbors. We would tell him to let the firemen know he was going to do it.
Some cool video shots!
Cool to see someone else fire clearing their land. My enemies are yaupon and Chinese tallow. It was way way too dry to burn for months here in east Texas this summer. But back in business now. Take care.
Yeah, same here - I hadn’t burned in months - definitely the season now
Looks like Blue and Annie have worked so hard today. Leta
Love the 3-fires photography at the end. Also was able to see you clearing more land and what was cleared. This just may be one of your better video's.👍👍👍
A good way to start the New Year!
Oh yeah I remember you trying to burn that tree down Robert you be careful out there burning down the privet and wisteria vines
That is so cool. More fun than work , I think. Well, some work but it is neat. Looking good.
Hello, and I can't believe that tree is still standing it's a die hard it's going to fight to the very end .but the field looks very good. Such a beautiful place 😍 Thank you for sharing with us take care 😊

Nice burn, Robert! Blessings.
Happy New Year Robert and family. 😊🎉
Happy new year!
I remember the “Chimney Tree”. That video seems like ages ago.😁
Like a year ago, you talked about "the mother tree of wisteria" that is on the neighbours land a few feet from you land. You said then that you would ask permission to take it down. Aloha 🌺🥰
Love the background music that you chose at timestamp 15: 00
Thanks!
Great job Robert..Hello Annie and Blue
I am still amazed at how wisteria is such a nemesis.
Scared me when I saw fire. Good fire!
Yes, good fire!
Great when a no plan comes together to make so much progress 😁👍
That’s right 😅
Robert I think you may have to get your chain saw out and drop those trees so you can also get all that hanging wisteria vines burnt up too.
Happy New Year🎉😊
Happy New Year!
great job getting the privet out, I was surprised that you got the first one down. that was

Thanks for another year of fun and progressive entertainment Robert. Happy New Year to you and yours.
I'm impressed. Good job.
Good job Robert!
We’re clearing a portion of our land also, but of bamboo! It was out of control!
You get to have all the fun!
nice job editing
Thanks. Although I caught a goof in the music in one part! Ugh
Onward!
Great Job 👍
I am sorry for my not keeping up to date on yours and Blue and a additional one for Blue as a bestie friend. I have been head over teacups canning. Differently pushing myself at 80yo. Tell Blue and his sidekick hello. ❤️❤️👀👀👏🤟🥰from Texas USA.

You just need some hot dogs , marshmallows, and things for smores.
Good job boss!
Man That's Like Work.
Looking Amazing.. Bet the critters like it too.
Like the music.
Awesome ❤
HappyNewYear!!! I thought i could smell the woodsmoke. Lovely fires. Be careful out there. Like the new dress code...vest with nice shirt. Carry on Robert, carry on!
Happy new year!
I don't know which is worse, privet or wisteria! I guess both equally a pain in the*@#!! Happy New Year Robert!
Love it
They say you-tubers should do unexpected things to keep the audience engaged. You flopped down on the ground and I was not expected that.😂
😂😂😂😂
I love the outdoors and it’s fields but miss the barnyard birds, where are Jerry and the Guinnes
They are expensive but a good brush grapple for that loader is what you need so you can pick things up and carry it to the burn pile. What happend with the swamp. Did it dried up?
It's winter, come spring it will come back
💜💜💜
Use a leaf blower to feed the fire.
🔥👍🏼🙂
Ever thought about LiDAR over land. Might find some interesting sites. Just a thought.
Would you believe I'm actually smelling smoke, right now?😐
I'm in my room, and nothing should be smelling of smoke! Though I was burning candles, earlier ..🤔
I need to make a Farm Fire scented candle!
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG I'd buy that!😊
I know a guy that got stuck in that field.
Out with the old to begin the new
Where's your flame thrower? Gone with Aaron? Happy New Year wishes for you, Robert. I got sick of seeing all that mess in the old house so I took a holiday from seeing the videos completely through. Pleased for a change, being an outdoor girl and pleased to see you getting at that wisteria with a vengeance. 🎇👍🍻
He has been cleaning inside, I believe he has already filled 2 trailers to the dump
👍👍👍😎☕
How many acres on The Old Bryd Farm?
11
Have you metal detected the any of the farm? I'm curious as to what might be found around the old slave quarters.
He has but the wisteria likes to fight him from finding anything
How do you light the fires? Just a match? Or benzene?
How is your friend Brent doing???? I haven’t seen him in your videos or any of his videos lately
He’s doing ok! He’s just been busy! You’ll see him soon
I really love your fires but renting a disc mulcher would be fast but not as fun.
You need a mini track ho with thumb on the bucket it would rip all the stuff out
Ni e fire
We used to burn our xmas tree on new year's day, is that the same? Lol
Even my cat watched this.
Fire uh huh
Fire
