Hey Robert, how do I become a member of the channel? For the old byrd farm. I’ve seen others are doing it, but I can’t find a button lol. I’ve been meaning to ask and I kept forgetting.
Already subbed smiler with your pal n wife , ol wreck houses n graves. Dare you Halloween to get spooked with an app on your phone by one or thre other🤓🤳😉🥰
Robert the Peach Man...Woo Hoo! 🍑 Good for you. I wanna hear you singing.... the Song > 'Peaches' 🎶🎵🎶 > I bet you know it! What a crappy thing to say to anybody, ever; You can't do that! You don't know how!. One of the things I admire about you is your tenacity. You're not afraid to try anything or to ask for help and suggestions. You try something. If it works, great. If it doesn't, you don't get discouraged. You try something else until you hit on what does work. I'm glad you don't let the haters get you down.
I can remember when I was young (I'm 70) when my parents planted peach, apple and cherry trees. We have a huge bucket of old rusty nails. Daddy put a bunch of them in each hole for each tree. Those trees produced like crazy. And we always had the best garden ever, which I hated at the time cause that meant work for me!! Now I can't seem to make anything grow. But we had great soil where I grew up in eastern Oklahoma. We had worms the size of night crawlers! I guess it's punishment for all the complaining I did growing up having to work in the garden!!! And my Mom always put moth balls in the ground around the trees if she even suspected of any kind of bore worm or anything else after the tree. It worked. Also keeps armadilla's out of the flowers gardens. They love the grub worms.
It's amazing as long as I have been watching. Your videos say over 2 years blue has never left ur side he makes sure Daddy's always o.k.im the one that watches more of blue he's a awesome dog and now Annie follows♥️♥️
Have I missed the video about Annie? I’ve seen her on the channel for a while now, but never really understood where she came from. Can anyone help me out? Thanks 😊
With my farming ability, my two varieties would be "beyond help" and "dead." You're obviously doing a better job than I ever could. Keep up the good work.
Any time you hear that comment coming..."too much talking"...just remember I'm out here, pretty much just here to listen contentedly to whatever you've got to say 😊🩷 cause it sounds like home.
Love watching the doggies. You Cracked me up wisteria hell😂 I am a new viewer and have been binge watching your videos. I have also been watching sidestep adventures and life after diagnosis. You are good people.
I love all the talking! I feel like we're having a chat on the porch. I can't believe you planted 8 peach trees - my back hurts! 😂You have such a great channel here, Robert. I think everyone can relate to wanting to see a beautiful family farm restored to her former glory. I love everything you're doing here and look forward to the day I can enjoy a peach from The Old Byrd Farm! Good luck and keep on keeping on.
General tree watering guidelines are: Water the rootball before planting. Give 2 to 3 gallons of water per inch of trunk diameter right after planting.
Georgia may be the peach state, but for many years South Carolina grows many times more peaches. Somethings nice to look forward to every summer. They do take watching for worms and diseases etc. you can lose a tree in a heartbeat after trimming back so be watchful. Your extension service will give you lots of guidance and help. Don’t let the birds eat them all. Enjoy!
My grandma had 4 rows of fruit trees running up the field behind her house. She had rows of vegetables between the rows of trees. Worked real well! You can do that there!!
Love that you are planting peach trees Robert! 🍑 🍑🍑 Love that the Old Byrd Farm is becoming a “farm” again and that you are able to plant rather than having to clear. You have done a great job!
Robert I think that now is the time to prune the trees but I would ask someone that knows about growing and trimming them so that you don’t trim off the wrong branches
Very inspirational Robert! I love how you just get out and "do" and learn from your own mistakes. I really enjoy seeing the progress you've made on the farm and getting it back in prime condition. Keep on doin' and learnin'!
Hi Robert, been a whole month since I was on your channel. This was great seeing you plant peach trees. One of my favorite fruits. I ended up in the hospital for two weeks then in a nursing home for two weeks. Am home and able to be back at the ByrdFarm action. Thank you lady’s for those new peach trees for the farm.👍💕❤️😍
Those trees are going to look amazing this spring. Hopefully they will produce lots of fruit. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The farm is coming mor and more to life. Great job
Hi Robert, I enjoyed watching your video today, you sure are making your farm look lovely! I can’t wait until your next episode, I saw a classic 67’ or 68’ red Mustang pass on the street while you were talking- what a beauty! I hope you have fantastic weekend, take care
Hey Robert, there's a place called Petals from the Past, in Clanton County, Alabama, Clanton the town, that has as it's owner a very knowledgeable and experienced gentleman that is helping many grow their best fruit. Their website is Petals from the Past and is very informative as well. Also Jason at Coghill Family Farm is having great success with their methods and advice. Good luck 🤞 🤗❤️🌈🙏🕊️
The little branch you showed at 26:35? The long, thin branch just below it needs to be pruned off. It's rubbing against a larger branch, which will only cause more damage as they both get bigger. Anywhere two are rubbing (or really close), one of them needs to go away. Great job on the peach trees! Spring bulbs work well below deciduous trees; when the bulbs need sun, the leaves are still too small to shade them out, and by the time the leaves ARE too big, the bulbs are spent.
so happy you got some peach trees! FYI Over here in NC our county Cooperative Extension sells fruit trees and berry bushes, selected for our area, for a good price, way cheaper than nursery prices, thing is, you have to order early then the plants come in at prime planting time....maybe you have one in your county. Also, they help identify any problems you are having with any plants/trees etc... if they don't recognize the ailment, they research until they figure it out and tell me what to do to remedy it. I used to use the coop extension office in Pennsylvania so it may be a federal thing that has offices all over in every state. Your farm is looking good, I'm still in the 'drooling over the garden catalogs' phase over here!
I can remember my husband spraying the plum trees in our backyard while they were blooming and we never had any plums with worms or any type of insects
We just purchased 3 Belle of Georgia peach trees to add to our old place! Heard they have a great taste. We live right next to Titan Farms and their massive peach orchards so we thought we’d get in on the fun!
That was not too much talking. I needed to hear your encouraging words sbout doing anything you set your mind towards. I also think it is really important to yourself, and us viewers, just how much you have accomplished. You've done well, and should be proud of yourself!
You are exactly right Robert and what you don’t know I am sure it’s someone around you that could help you with the peach trees and I wish you the best of luck growing your trees
Look up peach borer, terrible for stone fruits. I saw one in Albuquerque so knew what to look for in my backyard here in California. The simplest solution I learned was to sprinkle mothball crystals around the base of the tree. A couple of tricks to help with frost protection, all are labor intensive, is to set up large fans to keep the air circulating (this is done in the commercial strawberry fields in my valley. The gigantic fans sound like helicopters all over my side of town, anger the closest neighbors, as you can imagine), set up smudge pots (that is what the orange growers do in the California orchards), or, you could go out when the frost is due & spray a fine mist of water over the trees, the water droplets will take the freeze & spare the fruit. I don't know how often this method is used tho.---If you find you need more chill hours, toss ice around the drip line (sorry, another labor intensive remedy. I had to consider this action for my lilac bush.)
Mulch / mulch / mulch.... Very helpful.....to Add a Layer of 'Mulch' Around the Trees. (keep away from the Trunk of the tree, about 4 inches ) Mulch helps conserve and extend available water, protects the soil from erosion, reduces competition by suppressing weeds, moderates temperature extremes, and acts as a barrier or visible marker of gardening beds to limit damage by landscape maintenance equipment. Good Luck to you.
This is so exciting…. more peach trees. I think that was grand idea you did there. I sure hope you’ll do a video when they all start showing their flowers. I’ve never seen them bloom. My only thought of the trees close to the fence. Is people will stop at the OBF n help themselves to your bell peaches on that side of the fence LOL. Hope you find out what that dark mark is on your one tree. Someday it’s on my bucket list I’m going to come to Waverly Hall n see the old OBF for myself n hopefully get to meet you n share some videos I’ve seen. Good luck Robert. I think they’re gonna do great. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👏👏🐶🐶
i am certain that your neighbours and fellow kinship as they drive by will have an ever increasing beautiful display. You and blue should be so proud of how much achieved in such a time frame. Hopefully in the near future you will be able to move so you and the dogs can enjoy the farm 24 x 7 365 days a year.
Nice peach trees Robert. 🍑 > Water as soon as you plant them > to settle the soil around the roots. You wouldn't believe just how much water you need to get down to the very bottom of the roots! Gallons. Deep water.
Wysteria will always come back. Once you have it in the ground it is very difficult to get rid of it completely. But you can get to a point where it can be controlled.
I have a wisteria tree in my yard. I love the smell and the beauty in the spring and yes it is a lot of work keeping it contained but have been doing so for over 20yrs.
Good fer you. Nothing like a fresh peach. My late father had to harvest peaches when he was a child, him, his mother and siblings, and the peach fuzz can drive you nuts. That was in Fresno California.
Tarnished plant bug Plant bugs can be a major peach and plum pest and are a difficult pest to detect and control. They are most active from the bloom stage to 5 to 10 weeks after bloom. They pierce and feed on blossoms and fruit causing deformities, shallow depressions, and fruit drop. Not and expert but I tried to find some information. Also the peachtree borer, Synanthedon exitiosa, is primarily a pest of peach and nectarine trees, but it also attacks apricot, cherry, and plum.
I am so pleased with the variety you were able to find, purchase and plant! Just fantastic! You will have peaches this year and more and more through the years. It will be a thriving orchard as history will show! 🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑❣❣👍👍 Belle of Georgia has very positive reviews online. I believe that is Peachtree borer damage. Sent a message with further info.
Newly planted trees/shrubs need Regular and Consistent watering until their root systems get established. A 'garden' calendar may help to keep track (watering / pruning/ spraying ) *Rain....most likely, will not be enough to reach the bottom of the roots. Whenever you plant something....you need to "water it in" to settle the soil around the roots. Do you have a hose, that will reach out to your peach trees?
Robert get the trees pruned they then can have stronger produce they t te iuies to bigger and better peaces also getting the protein sticks you put in the ground help to keep them healthy check with your natural things to feed the ground around them I did it and they gave me some great peaces I love what you are doing
Hello, and you learn as you go ! As I am putting in flooring and it's a learning process. I think you have done very well for yourself. Thanks for sharing with us and taking us along on your journey.
We lived in southwestern Michigan for a couple of years while I was in school. We were fortunate enough to get some Red Haven peaches. Those were the best peaches I ever ate! I sure would love to get some more of that delicious fruit, but we live in Florida now, and a lot of times, the fruit shipped to the grocery stores isn't much good.
Ilive in Alabama now but was born and raised in Michigan. Moved here over 30 yrs ago now 70. My Grandmother canned a lot of Red Haven peaches and sure tasted great in the cold snowy months@@robertburns3014
Takes three yr four years to establish any fruit tree in uk, where you are with heat n all , I’d say earlier, add eggs while when planting for nitrogen and pot ash. Old bbq dust works well. For ants use old tea leaves and for plant feeds used coffee used grind and banana skin with cinnamon to keep bugs away and feed for plants 🪴
🍑 Good for you Robert. RE: Pruning...your original peach trees. > Read up (or videos / ask someone to show you) This is the time to prune (so important) > Before they leaf out. The new ones should be all set...? (Hard to tell in the video) Shouldn't have to prune those until next year.
We have peaches in the hill country stonewall tx Fredericksburg tx but Georgia has the best peaches ever ,, wish we got ga peaches at supermarket but we get crapifornia peaches
Diatomaceous Earth. Have you tried mixing that in and around on the earth when you plant the trees? Its good for delousing/ticking the chicken areas as well.
Robert, Great to see even more peach trees on the Old Byrd Farm. OMG so glad you saw the westeria on that one little Peach tree and freed it from that devil vine! Robert, I always knew you could save the house, and the land, and I know you can do anything you put your mind to. Gonna be sweet when peaches come up on the trees. When will you be doing more flooring? Gotta be before spring cause you will be too busy outside in the garden to do anything with the house. God bless you and your family, and Awesome Job to Sondra, Shella and Gail!
To prune your fruit trees you want to keep good air flow going so just as the buds are appearing its time to prune. You just need to clear a few limbs here and there. Almost like when you care for tomatoes, its the same. 😊 I think how you planted them you did great!! 👍 Now i have to know..... will there be Peach salsa in the future???? I will buy it by the case! Thats my favorite! Yummy!
you need to find it out for your area, contact a. cooperative's of agriculture . they would know exactly what to do for the best yield and health of your trees.
We have a Belle of Georgia peach tree. It's in its third year and is loaded with hundreds of peaches. They are around golf ball size right now. But they look fantastic.
Thanks yall…

Haters have to hate. 🤨 Robert, things may not be happening fast enough for some folks but, persistence pays off. You have worked so hard and it shows.

With my farming ability, my two varieties would be "beyond help" and "dead." You're obviously doing a better job than I ever could. Keep up the good work.
Check with your local extension office for info on pruning.
Congrats on the Peach trees. You need to get the farm known for peaches instead of wisteria. 😇
It is a good thing to have a good mix of peach trees--they can help polinate each other.
My thoughts exactly.
If you need some extra chilling hours, I have some up here in Nebraska I’d be happy to send your way!! 😊
Robert the farm is looking nice can’t wait to see the peach trees bloom going to look so beautiful
Any time you hear that comment coming..."too much talking"...just remember I'm out here, pretty much just here to listen contentedly to whatever you've got to say 😊🩷 cause it sounds like home.
Your Cooperative Extension office should be able to help you with pruning information.
So exciting thinking about Spring and new growth! Can’t wait to see how they do.
How exciting! I'm looking forward to spring and gardening, too.

Good luck with your new peach orchard. Your variety of trees sounds great!😊
I am so looking forward to seeing your peaches grow!!!! Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Robert, we love fresh peaches.😋 I hope your trees do real well.

Your LA Festival trees are from LSU's AG department. Good luck with the trees and Geaux Tigers 🐅
Georgia may be the peach state, but for many years South Carolina grows many times more peaches. Somethings nice to look forward to every summer.
Keep your receipts as they’re guaranteed for a year usually. I take a photo of each tree tag and as somewhere along the line you’ll be glad you’ve got them for reference. I also take a photo of the trees and write varieties location with it. Do t trim back more than a third of the tree each year. They do take watching for worms and diseases etc. you can lose a tree in a heartbeat after trimming back so be watchful. Your extension service will give you lots of guidance and help. Don’t let the birds eat them all. Enjoy!
You live in the right state for those trees! Love peaches 😋😋
Yum. Cant wait to order some Byrd Farm Peaches.
I think the peach tree orchard is a fabulous idea. I hope it goes well for you. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes for the new peach trees. 😊 Peach cobblers sure are good.

If anyone can do it you can! After seeing all the things you have done ,anything is possible for you. Be safe and happy
Good luck with your peach trees, now and over the years!!

I have heard that ole saying, plant high they won’t die!
You're doing a wonderful job in all aspects of restoring the farm. I can't wait to see how big thse peach trees grow this year.
Best of Luck on Your Peach Tree's 🍑🍑
Red havens are grown in our northern climate !
If you plant mint around your trees it will take the water when it sits around it . We planted some .
But you have to keep it trimmed back or it will take over the garden. Mint keeps multiplying.
@@karenwright8556 We make tea with it and feed it to our bunnies.
Thank you Robert for sharing your Video, Peaches are delicious 👍👍

Robert get the trees pruned they then can have stronger produce they t te iuies to bigger and better peaces also getting the protein sticks you put in the ground help to keep them healthy check with your natural things to feed the ground around them I did it and they gave me some great peaces I love what you are doing
Hello, and you learn as you go ! As I am putting in flooring and it's a learning process. I think you have done very well for yourself. Thanks for sharing with us and taking us along on your journey.
Red Haven are generally Northern fruit. Also there are also hale haven. Grew up in western michigan and the haven peaches are the best.
> Read up (or videos / ask someone to show you)
This is the time to prune (so important) > Before they leaf out.
The new ones should be all set...? (Hard to tell in the video) Shouldn't have to prune those until next year.
Great job 👍🇺🇸
The Belle of Georgia DOES self-pollinate.
If your peaches cross-pollinate, will it alter the fruit at all?
To prune your fruit trees you want to keep good air flow going so just as the buds are appearing its time to prune. You just need to clear a few limbs here and there. Almost like when you care for tomatoes, its the same. 😊
I think how you planted them you did great!! 👍
Now i have to know..... will there be Peach salsa in the future???? I will buy it by the case! Thats my favorite! Yummy!
you need to find it out for your area, contact a. cooperative's of agriculture . they would know exactly
what to do for the best yield and health of your trees.
The trunk rubbing against that bamboo has cause a scar. Put a bandage on it
We have a Belle of Georgia peach tree. It's in its third year and is loaded with hundreds of peaches. They are around golf ball size right now. But they look fantastic.
You are most welcome...your enthusiasm alone makes me want to help out a bit when I can...can't wait for these guys to bloom...
This is fantastic. I have one peach tree just to try it out, and they are wonderful.
