      Even though I did a mantrailing course with him last year and knew he was good at sniffing, I was still surprised that he found the store from several hundred meters away 😆😳 thank you so much 🙂🥰

    Hello Elli, a really nice video, showing this beautiful landscape of Scotland and waking the interest or curiosity - or even both - to come for a visit and sight-seeing oneself.
    And about Otto: It's evident that he's more than a rescue dog

    I am in my late 70s now and have been walking in the borders since I was a small boy. I love the area and I live nearby. :-)
    My Father described the Border hills perfectly when he said, "The hills are not spectacular, but they are never boring!"

      Oh yes, that's a great description! It really is a special area, it wasn't on my radar before but I really loveed it and I definitely will go back there and explore it more :)

    Otto is one smart boy. You may have researched your trip, but he's also secretly been researching where the pet treat shops are along the way!

    Lovely video once again, thank you Elli! Trouble is, now I have to add the Southern Uplands Way to my to-do list, as well as the WHW - I shall just have to retire so I can fit it all in!

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much 🤗 yes, you really should add it to the list! It's lovely and there's a lot of variety in the landscape. I liked it so much that I definitely want to come back to do the whole Southern Upland Way :)

    Just ♥ the gently rolling hills and landscapes, too, Elli.
    Thanks so much for sharing - I had withdrawal symptoms and was googling you today and saw the podcast.
    I really appreciate what you're doing with extending the vid release schedule. It's much more civilised for you and also because I want the vids to go on forever! I realise that you've probably caught Beca up 😉
    I guess Otto was a streetdog given his focus on the pet shop ? They are brilliant (because they have to be 😢)

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The landscape was really breathtaking 🥰 thank you so much! No worries, I still good a lot of good footage waiting for me :)
      I actually didn't caught up Beca, we missed each other by 1 day and after my rest because of my foot, she was gone 😅 as for Otto: yes, he was a street dog in Croatia! They learn always to check and look for food 😊

    Did you change your pack? What happened to the ULA Ohm?

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, I swapped it for my other backpack, the Osprey Eja. It didn't fit perfectly and the back length is not adjustable. It was fine but with the longer food carry it just wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped. The Eja has an adjustable back panel and just fit better for the load I was carrying.
