Lloyd Kaufman • I'd lose my soul if I chose... he shows me the kingdoms of the world, and tells me it's all mine if I only bow down. He wins the others over so easily, as I watch them scratch their heads and asses, I tilt my head in awe..
How Awesome is Lloyd Kaufman ?? The Man is a Self Made Legend ! I Was Skippy in Toxic Avenger working with Troma was the Greatest Experience i Ever had in my life Thanks Lloyd your the Greatest My Friend,,
I love the choice of question of James, and the good mesure of respect he gives to Loyd. Whatever the success of this serie AVGN, James stay focus, productive, passionate for cinema and humble. Such an inspiration for all the young movie makers! Fuck! This guy is great :-)
Watching this interview it is easy to see Lloyd Kaufman's influence on Trey parker and Matt Stone (the south park creators) back when they worked for Troma.
The part where Loyd mentions that small studios don't break through because of the bigger studios are overwehlming them and block them from getting bigger, made me think about a situation where i was in, beginning 2017, where i met one of my local illustrative (ex) heroes, he was talking to a guy that came fresh out of school (the same where he came from) and i didn't, the moment he looked at me and my work i sensed such distain for me even beeing there, not from a place, only because for my love of comics and fulfiling my dream.. i couldn't help but feel that there was some truth to Lloyd's story, only on an even bigger scale.. let the small guys do their thing man, like hollywood is something to be proud of these days, only comicbook movies with stories stolen from the 60's and remakes from movies out of the 80's.. smaller studio's and solo productions are way more interesting these days.
I swear I saw this guy in Guardians of The Galaxy during the prison scene where all the prisoners are yelling at the Guardians, I swear he is behind the rail.
"Are they fun to make?" "No, it's hell" That's funny because that is basically what James said after making his movie haha. He loved it, seeing it complete, but the making of it pretty much killed him he likely won't do it again he said xD
After seeing this and meeting Lloyd at Cinema wasteland, my entire perspective on him has change. Defiantly one of the coolest and understanding individuals I've meet in the industry so far next to John Carpenter.
"The Angry Movie, uuhh, Movie uuh Nerd- the Movie Game Nerd, uh... I mean the Angry Video Game Nerd! ... I took a lotta acid in the 60's" lmao legendary save!
regarding Lloyd's comments about Tribecca, it's the same thing with bands at South by Southwest. It's supposed to be this great local music festival but local bands are forbidden to attend.
21:00 This is the best and most important part of the whole interview. Mr. Lloyd K., after all he has acomplished, adressing to this NWO threat menacing our rights and fucking our dreams in the ass.
im still waiting to see my interview with Lloyd Kaufman,i was Skippy in the Toxic Avenger,i had an interview was on the 2nd of july,! hurry Troma Publish it!
I manage to meet Lloyd Kaufman last year at New York Comic Con, just a few months after your avgn episode of toxic avenger game review, I was curious about the toxic avenger films after seeing the avgn episode, so I checked on netflix and happen to find them. I have to admit it was funny to watch and I had a good time watching it. So it was cool to meet Lloyd Kaufman in person and got to speak to him and even got a picture taken with him too. I was glad to be introduced to the toxic avenger movies and the director, thanks to you James. Thanks for sharing for experiences to me and the world. God Bless!
I always thought Lloyd was some goofy weirdo but seeing this side of him was incredible. He's such a smart film maker, and he drops a LOT of truth about the industry.
+RHYS PEREGRINE I don't really see it as being a shameless publicist. To me he's more a disillusioned man trying to hold on to his dream, finding a kindred spirit in James to whom he can vent frustrations. Feeling like he apparently does, it's a wonder to me he's still going.
+RHYS PEREGRINE Given the really rigged industry he works in and the competition he's up against, it's sadly a necessity for him to be something of a "shameless publicist." It's part of the reason why he and his company are still making films.
Weirdly, I can kinda see where James gets a lot of his sense of humor. Lloyd in a weird way is like the Nerd if he got a lot older and more chill. So, kinda like how James is IRL.
James Rolfe i got alot of respect for everything he does, his show is great, you gotta see his shows he dont bullshit around when it comes down to video games, and hes also making history, keep up the good work james.
8:46 I don't know why, but Lloyd explaining cantaloupe and honey-dew working better for squished heads than watermelons is my favorite part of the interview.
What a great interview. It's still amazing how Kaufman and his film company are still making films given the challenges and unfair industry they have to deal with.
"The cartoons were very well done mainly because they kept me out of it." I can only imagine how much of a "kids' show" it would've been if Kaufman was involved in the process. :D
Knowing Mike left Cinemassacre the bit towards the end about how "you've been together for a long time" hurts a bit. I'm glad James and Mike did that psuedo-James 'n' Mike mondays playing through Contra on Mike's channel, hope to see some more of that on occasion. it's so wholesome.
Lloyd is a great guy. I met him a few years back at a Horror Movie expo in Houston. He is so funny when you talk to him because his sense of humor is really like this interview. Since it was the first day, not to many people knew about the event. So with few people there, I was able to talk to him about tons of topics. Plus he gave me a bunch of Troma pins like Toxy and others.
Can I just say this was a great interview! No leading an you let one question bleed into another. Thanks for bringing my attention to this gentleman James. Excellent job!
Thank you James for this video , you have such a wonderful TH-cam channel it never ceases to amaze. Wether it's about Games or Movies , it's all about sharing our love and hate for these type of art forms.
How is it even possible that I could have remembered a video coming out like it was months ago, look back at it, and realize it's old enough to not only go to school, but to also be in 3rd grade by now. I just don't understand why all of James' videos seem to have come out recently in my memory, but to have actually been nearly a decade old.
"...we don't have a deadline because nobody wants our movies."
What a legend.
True legend
Lloyd Kaufman is one of my favorite movie directors! Great interview...and he is sooo hottt!
Lloyd Kaufman I love you so much.
Lloyd Kaufman • I'd lose my soul if I chose... he shows me the kingdoms of the world, and tells me it's all mine if I only bow down. He wins the others over so easily, as I watch them scratch their heads and asses, I tilt my head in awe..
WE LOVE YOU, UNCLE LLOYD!
Lloyd Kaufman, I almost died of laughter, thanks to you.
...It starts to hurt... :'D
Adopt me Lloyd, you wont regret it. I am even (mostly) house trained...
I love how Lloyd can reply to literally ANY question with shameless self promotion!
I lost my shit, when he screws up saying angry video game nerd and says "I took a lot of acid in the 60's"
Tom solaire 11:12 To anyone wondering
well played Lloyd nicely safed... that man is freaking funny :D
Say what you will about Loyd Kaufman, but he is obviously a very smart man who has his eyes wide open.
I thought I seen him too, now that you mention it.
All that acid in the 60's
How Awesome is Lloyd Kaufman ?? The Man is a Self Made Legend ! I Was Skippy in Toxic Avenger working with Troma was the Greatest Experience i Ever had in my life Thanks Lloyd your the Greatest My Friend,,
It's kind of hilarious how he managed to add a plug to almost every answer to a question.
bo jackson plug as in advertise
The mark of a true professional: selling books while also selling himself.
It's awesome because he does that in every interview he has ever done. Uncle Lloyd is a bonafide salesman
A long-honed skill...
"I took a lot of acid in the 60's"
-Epic quote from Lloyd Kaufman
lolz were had
That's not a quote, it's a fact...
Probably not just then.
Oh god that part is so good. His little subtleties and matter of fact sarcasm are both things you can tell have shaped james' humor a lot
I like how he says that as an apology.
Haha!
Guess it never wore off.
Lloyd knows about Weinstein.....probably why he stayed well clear. Kaufman is legendary
I love the choice of question of James, and the good mesure of respect he gives to Loyd. Whatever the success of this serie AVGN, James stay focus, productive, passionate for cinema and humble. Such an inspiration for all the young movie makers!
Fuck! This guy is great :-)
Lloyd Kaufman and James should collaborate on a horror film. I've always thought James should make a horror flick!
Awesome interview James! Kaufman is an absolute legend.
Kaufman straight throwing shade at Wienstein and the Academy before it was cool
He's been an insider for a while, the industry has known about it for ages.
The best thing about Troma movies is the practical effects. they are outstanding :D
Watching this interview it is easy to see Lloyd Kaufman's influence on Trey parker and Matt Stone (the south park creators) back when they worked for Troma.
The part where Loyd mentions that small studios don't break through because of the bigger studios are overwehlming them and block them from getting bigger, made me think about a situation where i was in, beginning 2017, where i met one of my local illustrative (ex) heroes, he was talking to a guy that came fresh out of school (the same where he came from) and i didn't, the moment he looked at me and my work i sensed such distain for me even beeing there, not from a place, only because for my love of comics and fulfiling my dream.. i couldn't help but feel that there was some truth to Lloyd's story, only on an even bigger scale.. let the small guys do their thing man, like hollywood is something to be proud of these days, only comicbook movies with stories stolen from the 60's and remakes from movies out of the 80's.. smaller studio's and solo productions are way more interesting these days.
dude i hope i'm half as cool as lloyd kaufman when im his age
I swear I saw this guy in Guardians of The Galaxy during the prison scene where all the prisoners are yelling at the Guardians, I swear he is behind the rail.
He was in it, if I'm not mistaken.
he was in it i saw him also.
you are correct, he was in it as a cameo since he's good friends with the director, james gunn and served as a mentor figure to him
I knew I shouldn't have slept on that movie.... Got to go see it now !
ravenjuice is right. he's in this scene where the prisoners are yelling.
"Are they fun to make?"
"No, it's hell"
That's funny because that is basically what James said after making his movie haha.
For me, the best thing that James does is provide inspiration for the creative process, and this is definitely one of those videos.
11:18 "I took a lot of acid in the 60's" I died
Aleix PB I've noticed that the people I've met around his age that did acid all act like him.
This is the holy grail of all interviews
"The Angry Movie, uuhh, Movie uuh Nerd- the Movie Game Nerd, uh... I mean the Angry Video Game Nerd! ... I took a lotta acid in the 60's" lmao legendary save!
I've met and talked to this man and he has an amazing sense of humor. a highlight in my life.
Lloyd Kaufman ITS-THE-FUCKING-MAN
see, opie and anthony, this is how you do an interview. let the man talk.
regarding Lloyd's comments about Tribecca, it's the same thing with bands at South by Southwest. It's supposed to be this great local music festival but local bands are forbidden to attend.
Yeah music industry is a lot like the movie industry. Witch sucks
21:00 This is the best and most important part of the whole interview. Mr. Lloyd K., after all he has acomplished, adressing to this NWO threat menacing our rights and fucking our dreams in the ass.
this video is CRIMINALLY UNDERVIEWED SHAMED ON U FANS
1:29
i was hoping james was going to say "speaking of jizzum"
"the beautiful love story made by Paris Hilton" LOL
Really loved this interview. Two genuinely intelligent and funny people with great passion for indie cinema.
im still waiting to see my interview with Lloyd Kaufman,i was Skippy in the Toxic Avenger,i had an interview was on the 2nd of july,! hurry Troma Publish it!
The best thing Kaufman said, “Indiana Jones: Skull Fucker” lmao hands down best part of the interview.
Kaufman is hilarious :D
"uhg I took a lot of acid in the 60s" LMAO
One of my gods ! Because of you I wanna make movies
I manage to meet Lloyd Kaufman last year at New York Comic Con, just a few months after your avgn episode of toxic avenger game review, I was curious about the toxic avenger films after seeing the avgn episode, so I checked on netflix and happen to find them. Man, what an honor. For Mr Kaufman to tell you he is a fan of your work. That's gotta give you a boost of pride.
I always thought Lloyd was some goofy weirdo but seeing this side of him was incredible. He's such a smart film maker, and he drops a LOT of truth about the industry.
Drinking game:
Drink everytime Lloyd mentions Return to Nuke Em' High.
You'll be in hospital by the end of the video.
+Peace Frog Take a shot every time he plugs one of his books.
i like how when james asks obsure questions, lloyd gets into serious talk for a few seconds then go back into his character
He's a shameless publicist but he's still sharp as fuck and very likeable.
+Emrah Ekinci I wasn't criticizing him. Like I said, I like the guy a lot.
It's because of that , troma is the only true independent film studio left
Would love to see more interviews like these. James asks really good questions in my opinion.
Lloyd makes me so much more comfortable about growing old
I fucking love Lloyd Kaufman
Weirdly, I can kinda see where James gets a lot of his sense of humor. Lloyd in a weird way is like the Nerd if he got a lot older and more chill. So, kinda like how James is IRL.
He is awesome. I love how honest and funny he is.
James Rolfe i got alot of respect for everything he does, his show is great, you gotta see his shows he dont bullshit around when it comes down to video games, and hes also making history, keep up the good work james.
Kaufman & James is awesome!
Lloyd truly makes me smile and I love his films. Cult Classics!!!
I want to see Return to Nuke Em High I love Class of Nuke em high that movie is freaking funny as hell
Long Live Troma. Great Interview
8:46 I don't know why, but Lloyd explaining cantaloupe and honey-dew working better for squished heads than watermelons is my favorite part of the interview.
Lloyd is a great man!
This was a great interview, Thank you James.
Lloyd is woke af
"International devil worshipping conglomerates" 😂
When I get a job, I'll have a lot of movies to catch up on. Thanks James.
11:00 Fuck man I love Lloyd
"I took a lotta acid in the 60's"
This was so insightful and amazing! I need to get my hands on one of Lloydes books!
"I took a lot of acid in the 60s!"
What a great interview. It's still amazing how Kaufman and his film company are still making films given the challenges and unfair industry they have to deal with.
Lloyd reminds me of Ron Paul is that weird?
I noticed that exact same thing, especially when he started talking about how the MPAA regulations are pretty much made to stifle competition. funny
He reminds me more of William Burroughs.
What a cool gentleman. He is keeping his youth at heart. And a great interview, too!
Fucking love Uncle Lloyd!
Wow just started watching trona films they're awesome thank you James without this interview I would have passed these movies up
"The cartoons were very well done mainly because they kept me out of it."
I can only imagine how much of a "kids' show" it would've been if Kaufman was involved in the process. :D
He did, it's in Cinemassacre's Monster Madness 2012.
Took a lot of acid during the sixtys lol great guy
You can really pick up the vibe that James is interviewing someone he seriously respects. Helps to make the interview extra great.

21:00
from here Lloyd says a lot of interesting shit, you guys should listen closely
man he gave you guys an excellent interview!!!! he dropped a lot of jewels to you and the independent film industry!
Love this guy!
James will be remembered like Lloyd Kaufman some day, a pioneer in independent film making.
I remember G4 played alot of Troma films
Great questions and attitude towards Kaufman, probably one of the best people to interview him from the last few years in popular internet media.
Indiana Jones Skull Fucker was the best!
Can I just say this was a great interview! No leading an you let one question bleed into another. Thanks for bringing my attention to this gentleman James. Excellent job!
The way he talks about Harvey Weinstein distainfuly 8 years ago is telling
Thank you Lloyd, and thank you James. You both have inspired me throughout my life. I hope one day to meet ya in person. Good luck with the world
Lloyd Kaufman for President 2020
Thank you James for this video , you have such a wonderful TH-cam channel it never ceases to amaze.
Wether it's about Games or Movies , it's all about sharing our love and hate for these type of art forms.
"The angry movie nerd... I mean the Angry video game nerd! *I took a lot of acid in the 60's* I died hahah
Thank you James. I had no clue about Troma or Lloyd Kaufman, but I enjoyed this interview immensely. He is hilarious and insightful.
Holy shit this guy is amazing.
Loyd is such an inspiring underdog kinda guy. Its also nice to hear him not only give joking answers to the questions but also genuine replies.
james' arm was probably really tired after that
I heard that Indiana Jones: Skullfucker had the working title of "Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull", they certainly made the right choice there
"I have lips like a women and I know how to use them" XD
How is it even possible that I could have remembered a video coming out like it was months ago, look back at it, and realize it's old enough to not only go to school, but to also be in 3rd grade by now.
I just don't understand why all of James' videos seem to have come out recently in my memory, but to have actually been nearly a decade old.
I love the angry movie game nerd.
Thank you Lloyd, we appreciate it. Seriously amusing, and informative, interview.
*awkward chuckle* speaking of net neutrality, loyd uh....yeah....
Too funny rewatching this interview and hearing Lloyd Kaufman talk about net neutrality and here it is about to go by by
Troma kick ass!
Lloyd Kaufman is a genius. He thinks of comebacks and jokes so quickly and his delivery is so subtle and hilarious.
Interesting comment in there about Harvey Weinstein.
Fantastic. Kaufman (Troma) just seems like a blast to talk to.
