I recently sat down with legendary B-Horror Splatter film icon and co-founder of Troma, Lloyd Kaufman! Director, Writer, and Producer of so many classic black comedy exploitation movies including The Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke 'Em High, Troma's War and so much more, Uncle Lloyd is talking all things Tromaville as we approach Troma's 50th Anniversary.

Are You Going To Do Any ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD Video's With ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER And SYLVESTER STALLONE?, RAMBO COMMANDO, RAMBO COMMANDO, RAMBO COMMANDO.
Hello
How are you doing today
Lloyd Kaufman used to be in angry video game nerd once
Lloyd Kaufman wrote the "Windrammer" email on mailbag Ep 3, didn't he?
I've met Lloyd Kaufman a few times, and he really is as nice as he is here, and to complete strangers, no less.
I followed him on Twitter a couple years ago & he commented on some of my personal tweets & liked them & I was so tickled. ❤
lloyd is always a riot. Always joking and speaking in a sarcastic tone but also very upbeat. That's the kinda guy I admire. Just doing what you like and hoping others like it
This is how my grandma is. With a little less gore.
so true
I've met several Troma employees, so nice and friendly, the exact opposite of what you'd expect.
@@KRhetor I’ve noticed people who work on these types of horror movies are usually kind and super chill! I watched many interviews of casts and crews from slasher movies and they all seem so nice and open minded.
His episode on AVGN made me laugh so hard as a kid. I've actually heard some old school fans say they didn't like that episode and I have no idea why, Lloyd is an absolute riot!
Love how Lloyd plays the clarinet and acts like he's in the wrong place. I love the Troma Movies.
Love how you love to say you love whats happening. Love how totally arbitrary it is. I love words.
What an entrance.
I love Lloyd, but still hate most Troma movies lol
The "Angry Clarinet Nerd" gag killed me
He's a silly silly man! And I love him for it! The Flicks are great! Ty for the entertainment!
Lloyd is not a national treasure, he is an INTERNATIONAL TREASURE. Also the past few Cinemassacre videos have been a return to form. Really excellent stuff.
As an Australian, I can confirm. 🇦🇺 We love him here too. 💕
@@taffysaur sorry
Lloyd and James both.
An interdimensional treasure
I had the privilege of having one of my stories published alongside Lloyd Kaufman in the DOA III extreme horror anthology. Pretty proud moment for me.
I also wrote interview questions for him once. As a big Troma fan that was a real honour for me. The man's a true inspiration.
Lloyd being a bit more serious is great, the wacky stuff is fun of course but the stuff he's been through in the past 50 years is really fascinating
Lloyd is such an infectious personality. Always great to see him in great form.
I had the pleasure of being Lloyds Toxie a few years ago in London. Such a gent , funny and really gives his all to the fans. Honestly if only more celebs were like him.
"As long as you're creating, you've already been successful."
I'm going to remember this.
I’d love to see a podcast with James, Mel Brooks, and Lloyd Kaufman.
Mel brooks is awesome! Love Spaceballs and Robin Hood men in tights. Gonna watch more of his films soon.
Throw Zac Amico in there
I think I just came.
And Justin Silverman 😂😂
Can we please not mention James and podcasts together
"As long as you're creating, then you've already become successful, I think. Sometimes it's hard to know that in the moment because everyone is trying to become successful. But if you're doing it, then you're already there." -James Rolfe @24:56
Hearing him say that hit me. I’ve been recording music for years but never feeling like I’m hitting my breakthrough or worried about plateauing. If you’re still creating, you are successful. So true.
Lloyd Kaufman is a riot! I would be nervous if I interviewed him, because you never know how he might answer or react! You can tell James is super happy to have him there, and you can also tell he's kind of overwhelmed by Lloyd.
rightfully so! :D
Lloyd Kaufman will always be one of my favorite people. A true legend
When this show started, I never would have dreamed that Lloyd Kaufman would do a review of a game with the Nerd. Dreams really do come true 😄
Lloyd is the biggest 76 year old kid there ever was. I've always loved both him and Troma movies.
I can feel the love oozing off the screen, from you. Great content, James
Lloyd, you beautiful son of a gun 👏
The look on James’ face... when Lloyd... from offscreen... with his clarinet... begins to play... as he sidles into the frame... to that jovial tune... dancing his cheeky little jig... the face of James... of utter confusion and bewilderment... slowly breaking... a smile cracking... until...
“James! Hi, James!”
I laughed with him
uncle Lloyd always gives a masterclass in self-deprecating humor, love him
When Lloyd said "This has been a real diarrhetic interview" 😂
it felt so wholesome because you know what he meant 😄
Well, to be fair, anyone who knows the definition of "diarrhetic" will know what he meant.
@@GraemeGunn To say nothing of the spelling, diuretic.
Was actually rewatching his episode last night and he's definitely my favourite guest star. Guy seems great and hilarious.
This is weird. I just re-watched the AVGN episode with Loyd and this pops up. Great episode!
Same here, I just watched the AVGN episode last night
Its always a great day when Lloyd Kaufman comes onto your podcast to interview you.
This is great, Lloyd Kaufman is a treasure. Thanks for interviewing him and thank you Lloyd Kaufman for making yourself available!
Uncle Lloyd (not literally) is hands down one of the coolest people I have ever met. Just as a fan he's great and super encouraging. Love him.
I didnt know there was a Troma app. I'll totally check that out.
Wish this was twice as long. Love ya Lloyd.
Lloyd Kaufman allways struck me as the mirror universe version of Mel Brooks
Bizzaro Brooks
I feel like he's more like.. the Dennis Quaid to Mel's Harrison Ford.
I met Lloyd at Dragoncon several years back at the Troma booth in the dealers' room. It was the last day of the con, and I had no money left, but he still was nice enough to to take a picture with me. Afterwards I thanked him, and he said, "Thanks for not buying anything!" LOL. Coming from anyone else I might have felt a little hurt, but Lloyd is just Lloyd and he's always ON, which I love! Also....LOVE that he referenced SLC Punk in this video! One of my favorite movies!!
i love lloyd hes always hillarious but you can tell he is so genuine he has a lot of love and respect for james
THIS IS EXACTLY what the podcast SHOULD be.
Wow when Lloyd said “file sharing” my consciousness was blasted back 20 years
Loyd is awesome! So humble.
I think this was the most grounded I have ever seen him. Great interview.
What a treat to see Lloyd Kaufman and a clarinet-player too. It's as if Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, and Mel Brooks were spliced together to produce Troma movies. :)
cogent comparisons
The pin on his jacket says it all. He clearly loves his work and takes much pride in it. That's always so nice to see in an artist.
James, this is the kind of content we have all been missing!!!
That ending proposition got me way to excited, one can always hope! Cheers James, you sir are a legend. (I guess the old man is aswell)
Wow, can't believe you got Mr.Kaufman on the show again
It’s not that hard to do. If there’s a camera and a chance for publicity Lloyd Kaufman will be there. Still cool though.
Troma might have like a 1,000 movies but my favorites are still Toxic Avenger, Class Of Nuke'em High, Mother's Day and NightBeast. Lloyd is a legend to be treasured while he's still alive. It's sad that Troma's movies are not found everywhere like back in the day you could find them at K-Mart, Woolworth, Suncoast, Boarders, etc. With this places gone there's a huge chunk of exposition gone. Walmart has never brought a Troma movie that I know of. So now it's all on-line. Anyway 50 years of reel independence here's to another 50 years. Great interview James and it's always great to see Lloyd!☝😊👆
"As long as you are creating, you've already become successful" --James Rolfe 2022. This made me happy. I hope that my success can grow.
Met Lloyd in Vancouver at Anime Evolution in the early 2010's at UBC. Surreal as it was totally unplanned as the Troma event had no idea about the Anime con and visa-versa. I fondly remember Lloyds friendly demeanour. Thanks for being a cool dude, James- its fantastic to see generations of creatives working together to make a better industry together.
I like how it looks like James is the guest star
I love Lloyd Kaufman. One of my favorite filmmakers. Such a goofball, and he knows he's making schlock, but he loves it. Anyone who truly loves cinema should at least have respect for him, even if they don't like his films.
Just recently worked with Lloyd on a project. Absolutely phenomenal guy. Love him!
Thank you for having Lloyd Kaufman on James!! He's one of my childhood heros. I made a point after meeting David Copperfield as a child to never meet celebrities! I think I would make that exception for Lloyd as he seems like such a nice guy.
Lloyd you should totally do a clarinet cover of the AVGN theme song! In the exact style you're playing now. Come on guys, make it happen 🤞🏻
I'd love to see mister Kaufman getting all the way to Milwaukee to meet Jay Bauman :3
Maybe even stay for a Best of the Worst episode.
Yes!
I've been watching a lot of troma movies lately. Such a blast. Thank you james for introducing me to troma ❤👍
I just watched Tromeo and Juliet last night. By far the best retelling of Shakespeare I've ever seen 😂😂😂
I straight up embarrassed my wife opening weekend of Gardians of the Galaxy when I pointed and half yelled’ That’s Lloyd Kaufman!
Great video! amazing interview!!! Mr. Kaufman is such a straight shooter and a riot.
Checking troma right now
Feels like the end of an era, like I remember the Lloyd Kaufman video with James 10 YEARS AGO. They talked about the AVGN movie. Its crazy. They both seem like everything they talked about in that video, they succeeded.
It was season 7.
Love to see these last few videos are more return-to-form! I enjoyed this a lot James since you come off so genuine! Would love to see more of these type of videos
Lloyd always has so much fun with James, it makes me genuinely happy!
There'll never be another like Uncle Lloyd . . . never another.
Lloyd seems to have far too much fun on these. I'm glad to see him getting to unleash his insanity and enjoy himself.
I love it how Konami named the Doctor in SH after Lloyd Kaufmann and Michael Herz 😂 the two are legends!
Looks like he’s back for round 2 with the nerd
I didn’t know he can play the clarinet
@@MegaMr46 he's played it in a few other interviews including his interview on Jim Masters TV show here on TH-cam , he is also on Cameo
Lloyd is one of us. And that is why we love Lloyd.
I've met Lloyd twice and he's a hilarious guy. Really amusing dude.
Awesome video, Still waiting on that amusement park movie you talked about awhile ago James 😀
I love the admiration and respect these two have for each other
Lloyd Kaufman is the man, still sharp and hilarious all these years later. I'd love to see more collaborations with him James.
It's nice seeing Lloyd is doing well. He seems to be enjoying himself.
I wish i could talk movies with Lloyd! Such an underappreciated innovator in film!
The older I get the meaner I get. This guy is the total opposite. He's so positive 👍👍
Lloyd is such a crazy and great dude I'm glad he's still keeping contact with him.
I went to one of the screenings last week and enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Hopefully it comes out on physical media sometime soon.
I recently saw Lloyd at a movie release in brooklyn for a movie called I Need You Dead. He did a little Q&A with the movie crew after and was a absolute riot. Love the guy!
Lloyd is best seen with his wife. He's great, but it's the loveliest seeing him being calmed down live. She balances out him so well.
Two legends in 1 room ✊
Lloyd Kaufman is the person we can all aspire to be when we get old.
The Cannon Group, Troma, Roger Corman, The Asylum, the BIG 4 of shock, schlock, and CULT CLASSICS a plenty, influential masterminds that inspired many to follow in their footsteps.
Lloyd is such a gem. I love when he’s on camera and behind it
When I was a kid I would watch the toxic avengers cartoon show so here I am like eight years old and my mom rents me the toxic avenger movie from the video store!Been a fan ever since 😂🤣
Oh wow, didn't know about troma now before this. Now there's an instant subscription right there.
Tromas war is one of my favorite movies and truly an under rated film.
glad to see they're still making use of the podcast set :)
Wow, congratulations on being recognized personally multiple times by one of the greatest of persons that have influenced evolving so much art. We all feel the same.
What a superb man, and inspiration! I've loved Troma since '85, and this was an absolute thrill!
Thanks guys, great interview
Jeez James, when Lloyd asks what you thought of his latest film, give him some praise!
Loved every second of this. Epic filmmaking advice too, I’ll be taking that by heart from now on.
Lloyd Kaufman is exactly how I imagined someone who came up with the Toxic Avenger would be.
This was awesome. Lloyd Kaufman is a GD legend. So nice, so funny. Thank you for this.
This was an awesome episode. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Welcome back Floyd! Thank you for 50+Years of Disturbing Independent Media, here to another 5+ more!
love it. two of my favorite directors right here. I'd like to see you collaborate with John waters one day too, James.
Lloyd Kaufman oh wow he's such a character. I used to have a bunch of his toxic avenger toys when I was younger they were super colorful.
Lloyd
This guy gives great insightful interviews. Probably a form of conversation that is a dying breed
Lloyd Kaufman is my favorite guest ever.
How nice it is to listen to Mr Rolf and Mr Kaufman!!!!
I can't get enough of Lloyd! This was fantastic!
Lloyd seems like such a great guy
Please do more interviews like this. Lloyd Kaufman is a rad dude.
lloyd kaufman interviewing james rolfe on his own show. :)
When I was a kid and my buddies and I would rent a Troma movie, we always knew it would be the best thing we’d watch that night, no matter what else we rented. They were legendary.
Loved the fact that this interview was utterly disjointed. Lloyd has never changed! cheers.
This is the content i want to see
Lloyd puts the clarinet down and it looks like part of the chainsaw haha, almost perfectly parallel with the blade
Cinemassacre staff: you're doing it. Keep it up. Everyone likes this
