Carl,...FlyWing advises that when calibrating the Heli you can start the calibration process indoors then, when the program advises to start the turning of the Heli in different directions you can unplug from the desk top and take it outdoors. You do the calibration 'dance' outdoors then return to the desk top and plug it back on the USB. If the program says 'calibration successful' your good to go. If the calibration bars still show that the calibration is not complete, just un plug the Heli and return out doors and continue this process until you achieve a successful calibration. FYI This information was obtained from the H1 FACE BOOK GROUP Administrator. I believe he works for FlyWing and does the software for the H1 flight control unit.

I love heli's, but turned to quadcopter's years back as I was rubbish at flying heli's and feared losing them if I lost sense of direction.
The FW450 looks to be an ideal solution, but I don't want to have to fiddle about with settings.
It's why I love quadcopter's, no messing around with setup other than doing the GPS dance!!

Was very windy. Which was a shame. I wanted to get lower with the inverted but wasn't that brave. Lol. And this heli could be a great solution for you. Set up is a bit of a faff but I shall be doing a full video on the H1 controller set up very soon. Just follow that and you'll be fine. And you only have to do it once 👌
Just to add this basically is now a review of the ready to fly version as I bound it to their transmitter in the end 👍
I am looking for details on setting up the RX and TX displays on the V2 Transmitter. What values do you enter for HI, LO and Alarm?🤔
There is a lot of coverage on this craft and yes it is awesome and really cool but, it is also quite expensive. I have put gps and fpv on hellies in the past and for cheaper however the invert switch I never thought to do. Very cool idea. Just wish the price was around $350-$375 USD. Also wish they had a pnp with tbs crossfire compatibility.
Can you do coordinated turns with this? Such as bank left or right with rudder input at the same time?

Thinking about getting one. Thankyou for the review and flight. Do you know of any body kits that will fit this Helicopter for more of a scale experience. I f so maybe you could do a video of this modification. thanks again for your time. ps I never really understood about all this Acro flying due to the fact real world helicopters can't fly in these extreme modes...anyway each to his own I guess, Scale is what I like best, much like realistic flight. If you want to do flips and such buy a drone.
No scale bodies to fit this that I'm aware of. But check out our videos on the flywing bell 206 and the flywing UH-1

Carl, frsky makes a bunch of Futaba compatible receivers, both FHSS and FAAST. They are $20-$30, so I assume less than 50 pounds euro. They work very well and are MUCH cheaper than name brand Futaba receivers.

Thanks for the video. Does it only fly with full control in 3D mode? My cyclic and tail control don’t function in GPS mode.
Sorry for long delay in reply. I'm sure you've worked out by now that in GPS mode the controls don't work until the heli is running
@@carlbrain3758 Thank you. The heli was flying but there was limited control. I received help from Fly Wing and got the problem solved. It flys great now.

What's the max flight time with a big battery
I have read and watched loads of videos for H1 Flywing couldn’t find what I was looking for so went ahead anyway I use Trex 500 2 separate batteries 1 for servos, H1 and a 6s for the motor I’m not sure weather to connect the battery sensor to the 6s or not.

To be fair would be a lot more scary trying to fly my planes round my garden 😂 Just working with what I've got for now while we are in lock down. Have always been interested in helis. But always put off but the complicated set ups and hit to the wallet when they crash. But this H1 GPS system from Flywing takes all those worries away. I love it.

can you install a specktrum receiver to the BNF of is it only capable of going futaba?
Spektrum won't work I'm afraid. It relies on S-BUS to work as only one lead comes out from the flight controller
My problem with this heli is its too much electronics. I like the idea of the the old school mechanical fly bar. You learn a lot by that. With the reviews you are doing on the heli where you are flying it hands free takes away the challenge of flying the thing yourself. That is why I was attracted to rc heli in the first place. Its Bloody hard to fly the thing. If you were able to hover the thing for 5 minutes then you feel like a God.

My first Trex 450 was almost as stable without gps just GY401

Depends where you are in the world but from Banggood it would take 1 to 2 weeks from China.

Carl, how low should I let my 3s and 4s Lipos safely get to.
Ideally never let any lipo get below 3.7v per cell. But if you set the low voltage RTH to that it will constantly be returning to home especially in cold weather. This is due to voltage sag under load
Hi Carl, i just subscribed to your channel.So i bought one and it has just arrived and was wondering if the radio that comes with it is already set up with proper gain on head speed and tail speed, or will i have to change it when i do the calibration thank you and keep the vids coming cheers!!!. Oh and yes the red one is the one i got and it is the V2 one.Cant fly now cause we are having a snow storm lol oh well no rush.
If you purchased the RTF version that comes with the transmitter then yes all the physical settings in the transmitter itself should be all ready to go. However I would still recommend going through all the steps in the software on your PC

Excellent video - thanks ! ✅ Did I understand you correctly - set RTH Voltage LOWER than 3.6 ? Sounds dangerously low.
At first I thought you were going to say set it ‘higher’ than 3.7V for safety but you mentioned it keeps returning 😆 Seems a bit counterintuitive 🚁
You heard right. I know you never want to run a lipo lower than 3.7v per cell. But under load and in cold temperatures the battery could dip below that for just a micro second and the auto return to home will kick in. It's a pain. That's why I said if you are going to use the auto return to home feature. Test it with a watt meter. With a battery at 3.8v per cell. Take off and go full pitch straight up so fully under load. And then land. Check the voltage under that load on the watt meter. And divide that voltage by the number of cells in your pack. That is the voltage you would want to set the low voltage return to home at.

I have the same FW 450 V2 heli and had the problem when you take off, the heli would immediately increase altitude and automatically return to home and shutdown. I turned off the low voltage return to home feature and that put an end to the problem. I can safely fly 2 flights @ 6 minutes each and the battery that came with the heli only uses 60% capacity. Hopefully FlyWing will update the software and this feature can be used as intended.
@@Viperdriver-F16 It is a clever feature to auto return to home if the voltage is getting low. However just keep in mind that the heli does not have obstacle avoidance technology. So if it starts returning to home by itself and something is in the way it will hit it. Also keep in mind that if it happens to go low voltage return to home whilst you are inverted. I'm afraid the software isn't smart enough to right itself first. So the heli will return to home and land INVERTED! Don't say I didn't warn you 😂

You need to calibrate the compass. Do the GPS dance with a laptop outside with no surrounding buildings or possible interference if possible
