    I see the assisted flight control the new standard for all brands. Just like automatic transmissions it’s what the majority will want.

    Having auto pilot for almost everything takes the fun and challenge out of it but I guess you have to start somewhere. I just don't see you learning as quick than if you did not have all those aids. I remember my first "non auto pilot" heli and it was so much fun to learn from all the basics and eventually get to a stage that you do not need all the electronic assistance.

    Thanks for this great review. I’m coming in late and this looks like a really good bird. I started out perhaps 10 or 12 years ago with an Align 450 that I never did master. I think I did not have the hand/eye coordination required. I have done well with quads and enjoy them.
    I was reading a thread on a heli site and was amused at the talk of old timers about how GPS helicopters were going to ruin the sport. I am a HAM (amateur radio operator) and you should have followed the HAM threads 20 or so years ago when the FCC ended the Morse code requirement for high frequency operation. It was going to ruin the hobby. All those no-code operators were going to create havoc. No telling how much havoc they could create. Well, Morse code is just one mode of operation out of dozens or perhaps hundred available. You still have to pass the tests to become licensed. Yes, HAMs are federally licensed. I wonder how the old-timers in rc helicopters would react to a federal license requirement.
    Off my soap box now. I’m looking forward to trying out a FW 450. Thanks for opening the door for me. 0:03

    3D flight makes my mind go BOOM! The inverted feature might make it more approachable. But I wonder if it'd throw you off when you switch back to a traditional 3D heli? Like training wheels.

    • @trexinvert
      @trexinvert 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's exactly what happens. There is a non-inverted mode and then a mode for inverting(idle up). This may also correspond to mild head speed and then high/responsive/screaming head speed. Also, the throttle stick(left) response changes depending on idle up or not. This change can be quite jarring. Also, the helicopter may "turn" and end up "nose-in" which may dis-orients most beginners to push/pull the sticks in the wrong direction.
      Knowing where to fly and "speed to flick" the "panic switch" is a skill in itself. It has to be an instinctive reflex. Not something that requires mental decision making. It's on the ground by then.

The second on will only fly for a couple minutes then go into a low power situation and land on its own. Any insight as to why it does that would be helpful. Any thoughts on that?

      The problem with FPV helicopter that flies just like a quad and handles just like a quad is that you can't tell whether you are flying a quad or flying a heli. All you can feel is that a computer flies the craft for you.

    • @chrisbee5481
      @chrisbee5481 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@johncgibson4720 is that meant ironically or you really mean its a problem to fpv a heli and mistake it for a quad? Or you just saying it is easy to fly a computerized device?
      It is expensive and a pain in the ass to repair a heli if you crash. So many mechanical moving parts compared fixed pitch quad. Collective pitch has more manuverability. I know you fpv Helis.

    Hi Justin. Could you please tell me if I could fit the H1 system from this helicopter into my Trex 800E ? I am DESPERATE for a system like this for my 800E because I'm just one HUGE bag of nerves when flying my 800E due to the sheer size and power and DANGER it poses to me and anyone near it during flight! I would describe myself as a below average Heli pilot, I've owned and flown 4 Heli's from 500 size right up to the 800. Been "flying" for over 3 years now. Thanks, Wes Liverpool UK.

    My FW 450 V2 won’t fly in the GPS mode, it only hovers and goes up and down. This may be easy to fly once it is set correctly, but that set up process is hardly for beginners. I bought the RTF version so it should have been set up correctly, but since it won’t fly in the GPS mode, it obviously was not. Beginners need to realize that TH-cam videos like this are overly optimistic because they make money and receive free products in return. This is not the first product recommended by this channel that was not close to described in the video. The problems I am having as a beginner would probably almost be unthinkingly fixed by experts who produce these videos. Also, Banggood’s customer service response to my difficulties has been terrible. They wanted a video showing the problem. It is problematic to show a video of something the heli can’t do. I had to risk a crash to finally get them the video, but still no response. They should have offered an immediate exchange. While slow, Flywing has been responsive. They are telling me settings to try, but I have no idea why they would work, or so far, not work so I still have a $500+ door stop.

    You recommend autorotation landings in this video. Can you please briefly explain how to achieve autorotation landings with this particular heli. I assume you need to be in 3D mode, and then what?

    Wow! Thats pretty much all I can really say. This is what I had hoped was around 15 years ago when I first got a heli and completely destroyed it pretty much every time I flew it. hahaha. That thing is pretty sick. FPV IT!

      I quit even trying to learn how to fly a heli years back it just wasn't fun to crash every time I got a few ft off the ground to trim it up. This looks like so much more fun, looks like something that affords more real flight time instead of repair time.

    A beginner would learn BAD habits with this thing like inverted and up is up and down is down which is opposite of what a regular heli would do. I just think if a beginner gets used to this heli , he would have a hard time with a normal one. Just my opinion.

    Hey Justin. Nice Review. I've been watching some of the RC Heli Reviews around because I'm pretty interested in Helis these days. I enjoy Whoop flying indoors as much as anything there days. I really hate being accosted by folks out there who hate drones for silly, stupid, and downright false reasons. So, this rig is really interesting to me because I came from DJI quads into FPV, and long ago, I flew RC aircraft so maybe it's time for me to move more towards an LOS part of the hobby again and put the outdoor (like 5"+ monsters) FPV part on hold and exercise some old skills. So, hey, given what you know about these Fly Wing rigs and what you know about the M1/M2 environment, which one would you choose for a start? I'm tempted by the Fly Wing approach, but I also want to have reasonable expectations about the customer service experience with the companies as well as their health (longevity) in RC. So much good stuff out there. And to think that not that long ago, it felt like we were all living in the 'desert', as far as new product development. Thanks for these reviews, man. I always look for your content first. It's nice to trust the guy doing the review.

      Wassa,
      I like the fly wing hell is a lot. Especially the V2 version. It just takes the anxiety out of flying hell is for me. The 3-D how are used to give me some anxiety. Mostly over the cost and having to fix it if it really hits the ground. With the smaller ones it’s less to fix. And the fly wing helicopters have the H1 flight controller which I really like a lot and the GPS works great. I would get the V2 version and really have fun with it.

      @@dronecamps Thanks brother, I appreciate the extra words. The M1/M2 guys were trying to steal my attention. I love all of the support there is out there for M1/M2 universe, all the reviewers seem to love them (including you), and the performance is obviously awesome. BUT… I caught a note of caution in your review of them, and then I got that same feeling from several other reviewers about their suitability for beginners. The impression I got was that if a beginner left either of them in stability mode and were super careful to pay close attention to them and to their flying at all times from liftoff to touchdown, a beginner would probably be ok; and that if the new pilot doesn’t, that either of the M1 or M2 could get into big, big trouble in a fraction of a heartbeat. Yeah, I’ve known a couple of planes that were like that. So, probably better for a 2nd heli than a first. Thanks a ton, Justin.
