Watching your cat groom the dog reminds me when I used to bring my late dog home from the groomer my cat would inspect and lick down any flyaway hairs. My late cat wasn't too crazy about his bed being stolen. LOL! Both my dog and her cat brother are buried beside each other. I love seeing dog and cat siblings. Brings back good memories.
You don't mean you took your dead dog to the groomers and when you came home, your cat would inspect and groom you, do you?

Oscar taught the puppy manners and that’s what he was doing the whole time… It’s not unusual for cats to rule the house… All my cat has to do is walk in the room and the dog stand at attention

Ha, same in my house. When my cat was walking between my bed and dresser and there wasn't enough room for him to walk by my lounging dog, the dog sat up to let the cat pass. She loves the cat, and is five times the size of the cat, but she knows who the boss is. XD
yea….that doesn’t apply in my house..nor to real dogs..👀 no shots to anyone but my Northern Inuit,akita inu mix is highly intelligent quiet to himself an is reserved BUT energetic my 3 cats kno better than to bother him too much or come around him too much… he can be a tad bit Unpredictable.. so they stay out of his way. give him wide berth for the most part. you’d like at a akita an think cutieee But yeah even as a pup they’re too smart for there own good… it’s a challenge

I got my dog a kitten for Christmas. Best decision ever. They bonded hard. Like you mention, if Travis, the kitten is in my lap and Domonic the Chihuahua isn't feeling it, 9 out of 10 times he will come get her off my lap. Jelly jelly lil man he is. 😅

You could just see the "dialog" between Oskar and Rylee throughout the video. Near the end, Rylee jumping at Oskar and Oskar be like, "STAHHP! You're not a 2 lb puppy anymore..."😆One of the cutest parts was @0:52 when Rylee was asleep and Oskar was gently cleaning her. Then immediately after Rylee was biting Oskar, Oskar bit back and commenced cleaning.😆An adorable kitty & dog.
Oskar is a very gentle soul and a great big brother, and I wish them many years of happiness together

It's only humans that see the difference cause animals don't, they just see a friend . Cats being friends with birds ,dog and cats being best mates horse and cows running together. We have alot to learn as a race the first thing should be to stop looking for a difference between us and start looking for what makes us all the same the love for our children .
To start, we are all The same species as opposed to these animals, and even then, they created a loving bond.

Oooh ..I'm melting with joy...and remembering my sweet street duo Leo doggie and Bosky cat..best friends. Leo was about 14 when my mom & I rescued stray Bosky...and when Leo brought his choicest bone and laid it at Bosky's feet...we cried from joy and being so touched!
There are some days which are dark & my brain goes to places that are not healthy.
Then I see a video like this and it shines a light on something good. Maybe I'll stay.
My mother's boss had a cat that had kittens, and one day she brought them to work and announced that if no one took them, she'd dump them at the shelter the next morning. They had only just opened their eyes and really had no business being taken away from their mother, but she didn't care. My mother brought me home a kitten. I already had a Shar-Pei -- Maggie -- that was fully grown and a brand new Ori-Pei puppy -- Snapdragon -- (a hybrid breed that was intended to try to breed the health problems out of Shar-Pei and Pugs). Maggie was happy with the puppy, but she did not want the kitten. She was like, "NOPE. Return to sender on that thing, because that baby cannot stay here." After about 2-3 days, she realized we weren't returning him, and she decided to adopt both the puppy (who was supposed to be three months old and turned out to be about six weeks old) and the kitten, who we named Puddly. She was a Shar-Pei though and not a cat, so she raised him to be a Shar-Pei. One thing Shar-Pei mothers do when their puppies are acting up is that they grab one of their wrinkles on their face or neck and shake it, which is completely harmless, as it is floppy skin, but Puddly did not have wrinkles, so we'd have to say, "Maggie! That's his cheek! Stop shaking it!" Other than that, she was an amazing mother, especially for a dog that never had puppies of her own.
Puddly never understood other cats though, as he hadn't seen any since he was taken from his mother and had boned with the dogs. Many things like grooming escaped him, and we'd have to wash him, like the other dogs (though I'd do it with a wash cloth, rather than in the tub); and he ate in a big sloppy way, like a dog. He eventually met a neighbor's cat and wanted no part of it. He was okay with it, until the cat meowed at him in a very friendly way, and then he jumped in my lap and hid his face from her. They had such a great dynamic.
My current cat's mother or grandmother (not sure which, since the man that owned them was a little confused) apparently was a big adopter of babies as well. She raised puppies as well as squirrels at one point!

I agree 100% with your post. I think that it has kept me healthier, happier and just better off to have my dog (even though he can also be a big pain in the butt sometimes. LOL!) We walk twice a day, sometimes we jog. And all those things you said about having to keep regular habits is a very true statement.
